Can't Save Anything Off the Net

Like the title says I'm having trouble being able to save things, mostly pictures, from the internet.

It goes through the normal routine of saving it, but when I look on the desktop or my pen-drive for the file, it's never there. I'm pretty sure I haven't changed any settings. Is there something I should check to make sure it hasn't been messed with?
 
Try using the search feature, search with the name of the picture you want to find, and if you don't find it, I'd suggest checking the default folder settings (FF), and if that fails, reinstall.

I normally save files onto my desktop, and then move them to the appropriate folder, or I'll save them on the main file of my pen-drive.

Check your browser tools. It might, for some reason, be saving to a different location.

In Firefox it's Tools, Main and halfway down it gives you the path to which files are saved.
 
The downloads window of Firefox actually tells you where files are being saved.

I looked, it says it's set for the desktop. Just be sure I changed it to My Documents, and then put it back on desktop. Still nothing.

Here's the weird thing. When I bring that up, down in the bottom right hand corner it says: All files download to: blank

I've got a download status bar for it on FF, it doesn't come up anymore either.
 
I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! I have firefox and it saves to a folder called temp (temporary) Check there!! Sorry for basically shouting but i just remembered...
 
If you right click a picture though...you press save as and normally goes to "my pictures"
 
I'm using IE right now and its working fine. So FF is the problem, what should I do then? Delete it and redownload it?
 
There's no need to reinstall Firefox.

  1. Exit Firefox completely
  2. Enable the viewing of hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer
  3. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data
  4. Delete the file named downloads.rdf (don't worry, FF will create a new one)
