Probably. Don't get me wrong, I'm rather upset about the North American delay (especially considering it's already sitting right there on my hard drive) but I just don't understand the other complaints. It works just like the store, you buy a 6-pack of beer and you get 6 beers. You don't get to take a whole case just because you want to share it with your friends and family. But I'm sure there's another side I'm not seeing.

Just frustrating, I've been scouring the boards trying to find out if there's any info about why we are delayed and all I see is this vile hatred spewing from every other thread.

Yeah, I don't understand the reason for the delay either, nor could I find a reason... I was all set to go with my $20 PSN card in hand.

I keep eyeballing that COD Elite pack. Hmmm wish I was rich.

Brandon DLC I have spent prob 200-400 in map packs, games, add ons, etc all available to use on my sub accounts.

As a parent this really hurts and takes some control away from us by allowing kids to purchase items. Once my kids get a taste. I will be hounded.

I don't think I should be charged to allow my kids to watch a movie I purchased. Do you?

Im super fired up for tonights race, me and brandon have had two practice races that were seperated by less than .010, so Im hoping tonight will be close as long as I dont end up on the beach. As far as the DLC goes, they can do whatever they want with thier product its the consumers choice to buy it or not.

I think a better analogy would be burning copies of said movie and giving them to 3 of your friends free of charge. That's called piracy and that's what they're trying to avoid. But they don't know the difference between your boys' pS3 and Joe Schmo's PS3 down the street. I think they need to figure out a way to let you register your machines and decide your DLC privileges based on that.

The GT5 community has proven that they will dupe, steal or glitch anything they can so I don't blame them for covering their butts when real moolah is on the line. ;)

I'm okay with you being charged for that, as long as you are aware of it when you're buying the movie.

Man, those were some of the best battles I've ever had! I think there were multiple times where we drove 2-wide for a whole lap (or more) with nothing more than incidental rubbing. My heart stopped several times! Lol I know I wouldn't have been able to do that pre-Spec 2, I probably would have crashed us both. :)

I'm going to go shoot a video of one of our battles and post it for everyone to enjoy. In the meantime, feast your eyes on this nonsense. I think the loonies got out of the loony bin and took over our Capp's!!

That's the most logical thing I've heard all day. 👍

This whole mess is PD's fault to begin with.First they create the ability to trade cars, then they decide that people are taking advantage of the poor virtual cars and put a cap on trading. So now we have a game with limited trading and along come this pack of cars that require real money to buy and im not allowed to trade them.

Either allow trading of everything or shut the damn thing off.In typical Sony/PD even this concept is half done and doesnt work properly.:yuck:

If you allow trading DLC cars - might as well give'em away for free. Which, of course, would mean no DLC would ever see a light of day.

I sense this thread is getting off the topic of Capps a little ;)

Looking forward to getting back into the Cap after a week off.

I'm ready to go... Let's do the damn thing!!! 👍

The Race Lounge is OPEN! Reminder, 1 mandatory pitstop tonight on any lap but the final one.

Goofy connection issues. I was fine as for frame rates and drivability. Had problems seeing Brosif and below him. Then left and returned, everyone was loaded and fine on my end.

However I get blamed for the issue. If indeed that is the case then I am baffled. I get A / B+ Ping Rating 20+Mb down and 4Mb up. Cable. With hard wired PS3.

I am hoping it is PSN. cause that stinks. Over an hour invested to not race. :( can't believe we didn't try open lobby before kicking me out.

What a day.

Edit: and the only items sucking on the net are, idle PC, idle iPhone, and my PS3. Kids is off and no other devices on. As well our wifi is secure.

^ I was hoping that it would get better for you guys when I bailed from a second attempt.

When I logged on right before the race, it took two tries and said PSN was down for maintenance.

Would all the people on mic have somthing to do with the lag? Everything was fine on my end but alot of people seemed to be having trouble, and there was a whole lot of jibber jabber.

There have been issues for me since Spec 2 came out and I think it's just volume of traffic. I've had almost zero issues in the months since I hooked up with a CAT6 cable but since Spec 2 I've had a few disconnects and some rooms I couldn't connect to. Not much we can do about it but ride out the storm for a while. I don't expect it to get much better for a while with the new DLC coming out next week. There was a small amount of lag, mostly with guys doing a little shimmy back and forth. I was with Luxy for the first half of the race and his shimmy ended around lap 8.

I suggest disabling voice chat in settings for Friday and see how it goes. My car on both first laps won't accelerate and won't turn.

I don't think it was you, the problems continued after you left but got a little bit better every time somebody left the track. We finished with 11 and it still wasn't back to 100% on my end. Brosif had problems seeing yuri too, he could see him in his mirror but not on the leader board. We race with 11+ all the time and it's never been like this.

We can try it without mics. There is a thread on here somewhere where an IT guy explains why mics don't have any effect on game stability because they use a completely different bandwidth (or something like that) but I'm willing to try anything if it happens again.

Anyway, we did finally get the race in and here are the results. Congrats to IforceV8 on the win and to Brosif and Luxy on a TIE for 2nd! That's the first time we've had that happen!

What a nutty event. Can't believe there was a tie. I have never seen that happe D:

What was the pole time?

That is incredible.

1:07.2xx I think.

I don't think I've ever seen a tie before, not in an online race at least. It may not be an exact tie however, as the rankings only show 3 decimal places but I imagine that the game stores way more than that. Regardless that's the closest finish I have ever seen  We definitely need some pictures of that finish 👍

Also just a quick heads up that I won't be at Friday's race, but I'll be there for Saturday's.

What an interesting race. The very first attempt at starting the race I've never had lag/frame rate issues that bad that it effected steering, braking, everything. It was playing tricks with my mind haha. Once we started the official race things were much better, but still not perfect on my end, cars lurched a little at times.

Did anyone else have faster laps after about midway through the race/pitting?

Also, here's some things to try to assist in reducing connectivity issues (if it's actually our fault and not the networks)

-Clear cache in GT5 (and even in the web browser)
-Restart PS3
-Restart Router
-Used automatic settings on router and PS3 and different settings
-Set router to DMZ
-Set static IP on PS3 and forwarded ports (as referred to in the manual)
-Removed firewall
-Gone from wireless to wire
-Turned off all computers and other stuff
-Connected PS3 directly to router without anything else on
-Called/connected internet supplier and got the line checked

Here's some more issues on forwarding ports...

Thanks Blind, I'm gonna add that info to the OP. 👍
I did notice substantial time differences during the race. When we dropped from 13 to 12 there was an increase in frame-rate and "feel" but I didn't notice any real lap time difference (half second maybe). Then when we dropped to 11 there was a big improvement in the quality of the room (still not perfect) and in 1 lap I went from a best time of 2:12.xxx to 2:09.xxx. It wasn't necessarily a faster feeling lap, but 3 seconds! I think this shows that it was likely something with the network and the problems weren't linked to 1 person in the room.

Here are highlights from the photo finish last night between Brosif and Luxy. Watching the replay it's pretty clear that Brosif barely nipped him at the line but it must have been less than .001 second difference since it showed them as a tie. Either way, an incredible finish after 20 laps and a pit-stop! 👍 guys.

Looks like I should've tried to protect the inside into the last corner :) Great race, Brosif 👍

Great job Lux, you've really arrived with that result.

Thanks Brandon.

Yep, tying with Brosif for 2nd is something to pat yourself on the back for. Very nice racing to both of you.

I've updated the Results and Points with last night's results.

Thanks again to everybody for their patience last night while we worked through the connection issues. It wasn't ideal and really caught me off guard, but we did end up with a respectable race. Also, 👍 to everyone for the manual grid line ups, we pulled that off with relative ease (twice!) and with very little instruction from me. I don't think we would have salvaged the race if that hadn't gone so well. Gold stars for everybody. :sly:
