Box built but not completed:

Still have to smooth everything out, get it properly sealed and carpeted. I still also need to run another set of RCA cables and the required speaker wire in order to connect my components to my amplifier 👍

Looks good !... And about the finishing thing.. Do it NOW.. Immediatly.. I made my setup (see earlier posts in this thread) a year ago, and never got around to "finishing" it.. Carpet etc...

But then again, it's probably just me being a slack bastard ;)

well, I thought I might post a pic of my new purchase, now all I need is a box and amp...

Two Clif Designs, 1200 watts max each, 12 inch, sound quality sub woofers:

ok, say if those subs I posted were in a volvo wagon, would it be best in a box that is a perfect square, or angled up a bit?
That really would not effect anything besides the amount of air space in the box. More than likely you would not notice any difference in sound at all.

I need to pick some of the more audio intelligent member's brains, as I have no clue what to do next:

Ok, so last night I took All 6 Bose speakers out of my dad's Old Decrepit (but the speakers work!) '97 I30. I kept a couple inches of wire for all of them. I believe the two tiny ones are tweeters, the two back ones are the bass tones, and the ones from the doors are the midtones.

Here's the thing. I want to buy an Aftermarket Head unit to put in my '60 Biscayne (it's been converted to alternator, If that makes a difference), and every head unit I've seen says 4 channels. What does that mean? 4 speakers? And does dual 50W x 4 Channel mean (up to) 8 speakers?

Basically, I'm wondering what head unit would let me plug in all 6 bose speakers and not be too expensive. Any suggestions?

Yes 50x4 means 50watts to each one of the 4 channels. Front right, front left, rear right, rear left.

There is no such thing as "dual" 50w x 4. No not up to 8 speakers. However there is a company that makes stereo components and they are called DUAL. Their name brand might have confused you. They make cheap electronics. :sly:

Thanks Camaroboy,

So... how would I hook up all 6 speakers?
Your welcome. As for the 6 speakers it is very easy and will still sound great even if you dont have amps. Since you have 2 extra speakers we will call them A and B.

Take your A speaker and hook it to the front or rear speakers. Either one will work depending on where in the car you want the extra 2 speakers. If you put it the A and B speakers in the rear then hook to the rear speakers.
To do this just hook your positive wire from speaker A to the positve wire on your left rear speaker. Same with the negative wire. Hook it from A to your left rear negative wire. Very easy.
Now do the opposite with speaker B. Hook it to the left speaker if B will be on the left side of the car. That way if you fade your deck to the right your front right speaker, B, and your right rear speaker will all be on. This way when sounds from music do the left / right effect, your car will sound balanced.
Hope that helps. If you have any more questions I will be back on here tomorrow some time. I could make you a drawing if this is too confusing. ALways easier to see a visual than to try and type it out to someone.

Thanks camaroboy, I think a drawing would help, if you could please whip one up. If the head unit ?I'm planning to get is 60 watts with 4 channels,(a Lanzar VBD 1400) would that split the wattage to 30 for each of the doulbled up speakers?

Sorry I took so long for this shot. Life has been, well busy. Anyhow, here's some of it:

I'm running a 5.1 surround system, with Infinity 6.1c in the front, Boston Rally Series in the back doors, each pair being powered by each Kenwood amp. Then I have a Pioneer center channel mounted on the dash for the center channel powered off of the deck, and a Rockford amp powering the 10" rockford sub in a side panel box. The bass is definitely lacking, but space was too necessary to give up the back for dual 18". ;)

No it wont necessarily split it up but it would hurt it any at all. Each speaker will actually receive almost an equal amout close to 60watts. Many cars come from the factory with more than 4 speakers hooked up to the deck. My 1996 firebird formula had 10 speakers from the factory and that was without an amp. As long as the speakers arent too big or draw too much power you could wire several together.
Here is the simple dwg you requested. If you click it and its still small, just hit the refresh button. Imageshack has been rough lately.

PAKO, keep in mind he has NEVER installed a stereo before. Do you really think he is going to understand a 5.1 surround sound system with amps??? Lets keep it simple for him.

Actually, he was just posting pics of his system, whixch he said he's post on the 2nd or third page.

Thanks for the Diagram, it helped out alot. 👍:)

If I get subs I'd get an amp, but I listened to the Infiniti's system before I pulled out the speakers, and there was enough bass to keep me happy. :)

:) Yep. That post where I said I'd post was November of 2004. What a slacker, eh?

Better late than never. I guess. :)

menglan, im glad my diagram helped you. Stereos are fairly easy to install but can be a little intimidating to someone that has never done it before. The deck will give you a wiring diagram and my diagram will help you with the rest. It should be very easy for you.
Hard to believe the other post from Pako was almost 1 year ago. I guess its easy to loose track of what someone said what its been so long. Where did the year go already??!!
