I like going to auto manufacturer sites and "build my own". Maserati and Ferrari have a pretty cool layout for it.

^I tried to register (in order to display the forums) but it says,
"The board administrator is no longer accepting any new registrations at the moment."

What the hell!

Another site (and in my opinion, better - definately the original of the two) is pixelcars.com

Fair bit of elitism there and mod-veteran user buddy-buddy, so check out what's what before posting questions, etc.

AND. The NO1 RULE. ALWAYS credit the artist whos work you are using. Everything you yse that you didn't create 100% yourself needs credits.

A lot of the work is pretty amazing, and you can pretty much crate anything you can think of.

I don't recommend this forum at all. The moderators are horrible, especially that one "Jack" guy. :sly:

The place has changed over the last few years, as all the veteran "artists" have either left the forum or given up on the art so there's not as much enthusiasm and excitement as there once was. I guess it's partially why I don't post as much as I used to. But don't worry about the elitists or idiots there, most of the time they're just looking for some attention. There are definitely a lot of nice, down-to-earth guys there which outweigh the idiots.

Anyway, if you're just looking for a website where you can create and customise a car in a relatively short amount of time then the pixelcar scene probably isn't your thing. It takes time and a lot of effort to finish a decent "base" or "tune".

I'm not sure why, I just looked and one of the mods said new registration was temporarily turned off for 2 weeks, but that was in January.

I know the site was on the brink of closing, maybe they are.

There's a site where you can find a lot of bases pretty easily if you want to get into pixel car tuning. I don't think there are any tutorials there, but I'm sure that other site mentioned probably does... I'm too lazy to click :yuck:

Thought the avatar and sig ladies matching was a bit strange! Small world.

To be honest, the guys on PC.com are just brutally honest. Lots of new guys post up boring, samey work, with not much time invested and not much attention to detail.

They then expect to pretty much be told what to add - something that veterans hate (inspiration can be hard to find after pixeling for a few years - any ideas you do have tend to stay hidden away for future tunes).

If you really try, do your own research (reference other artists work, trial and error, check real car pics to get ideas, etc) then you're much more likely to get constructive criticism and tips on where you went wrong and what to improve on.
