does anyone here build car models? and i'm not talking about those snap together kind, but the full out high detail ones that cost like 50 bucks in the stores, anyway i'm just starting one and just thought I might post some pics on my progress, feel free to post any of your work as well! :D

here is one of the rims, notice the brake dust, nice realism eh?:D

and here is the body of the car.....I still have a lot to do!!! but little by little it will get done!:D, its not painted yet, so it will look better, plus the lights, mirrors and carbon fibre doo-dads etc.

I think it looks great for being unpainted. That's pretty realistic looking. Post pictures of it when you're all finished. Or post pictures of it as it progresses. What other kind of car models have you seen?

I like them, but I never buy them. I don't have the patience to build stuff. I'd much rather tear something apart.

BTW- I took care of the other thread.

Oooh. Is a WRC WRX or a Prodrive 1 WRX (if they're not one in the same). I'm certain Prodrive offers those wheels. Very nice looking.

I have a Nissan Skyline GTR 34 just laying in a box, halfway unfinished. Also a GTR 33 that I've never even touched. I was a big GTR fan a while ago, if you could tell.

Looks like it will be a nice model, wish I had the patience and time for plastic models. I'd just break them after a while.

Its the WRC, so it has alot of decals but I dont know If I should put them on...do you think I should or just have it like a street car?

Nice. Just for your information, I put in the bid to Jordan for a new Forum with Hobbies in mind. This is what I was referring to, and it seems as though the interest is high.

I think the model is looking pretty sweet.

I have a few current projects, two at home, one here at college.

Home:
1932 Ford 2 door Coupe convertible with trailer. 50% done.
1992 Nissan Skyline Nismo tune. Shipped in from Japan. In box
1970's Dodge Charger. 10% done
1994 Acura Integra. In box.

Here:
1980's Toyota Soarer. In box. Starting this weekend. :D

I typically don't follow the instructions fully, and make my own bodykits and altered parts. For instance, the '32 ford has all the doors opening and the trunks and the front hood. as well as, I lowered it and got Pegasus rims for it. The '80's Soarer has new Fujimi wheels for it as well.

Good luck on the project.

looking nice, too bad its a curbside kit, and $50 for a model?:odd:
Most I ever pay is $30, but then again im cheap. Im currently working on a supra, gt40, and Tommy Ivos four engine dragster progress so far kinda sucks, Im trying to fix that though. Thouse brakes are amazing.

yeah! I think the hobbies forum is a great idea, you sound like a real pro when it comes to building models, i'm actually kinda new at this, so any tips or hints would help:D but I have built a few plane models in the past, anyway post some pics if you can and good luck! :)

thanks for the comments :D , but what is a curbside kit? and the price I listed was in Canadian $$ so it would be less in US $$

curbside kit= kit with no engine
and im sure you would rather see one of toyo's kits more than mine, but here is a raybrig nsx i just recently finished:

I don't think it's a curbside there Dark Skyline. The wheels look like they are from a Tamiya kit, and they don't have any curbside's. Anyway, when I can get my palm working, I'll get some pics up for you. :D I don't have any of the work at home, because that's Wisconsin. I'm in Iowa at college. Over summer, you'll see a ton of photos getting pumped out of me. :D I have a lot of projects and a lot of time to finish them. :D

If you need any help, I pick up some of my tips from http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=108152

uhh...most of tamyas kits are curbside, actually all of their rally kits are curbside they are just highly detailed on the bottom and the interior and exterior. the raybrig nsx I did wasnt curbside though but was tamiya. You can get detail kits from people like studio 27 to put and engine in one of tamiyas kits, but most of them are curbside.

Hmm... the Tamiya rally cars I have put together have engines. That's really odd that you didn't get them. I made a similar WRX and a Focus and a Peugot 206. They all had engines, which is odd that you didn't get one. Maybe just different model series.

Looks really good so far. I also build models ,i have since i was 9 or 10 i am now 34. I have around 75 unbuilt and around 35 built in my collection. I like to find vintage unbuilt kits or repros in original style box .i really have no pref in what style of cars i get if i like the looks i get it. But i only build cars and a couple of trucks ,1 air plane .

It's hard to say. I'm not a big fan of anything that has a lot of stickers, even if they are truely sponsers. However it could look sort of weird without the stickers because of the hood and roof scoop. *shrugs* I don't think it would look bad either way. The detail your putting into it is amazing. Plus, since the wheels and brakes look dirty, a WRC car would look normal. Maybe you can make the whole car have a sort of dirt look on it? Maybe make a little base for it with it going through a large mud puddle? That would me awsome!

that would be awsome!! but sooooo hard! lol, I'm thinking of putting some dust on the tires and then whiping it off so its just in the treds, because the tires and rims make it look like its used for racing on the pavement, the dust on the rims and brakes are brake dust from heavy breaking, so i might keep the car itself pretty clean, maby some dust and dirt just on the bottom, because i'm not good enough to have too much dirt and make it look real...but anyway here is the box if anyone wants to know, and yes sadly it is a curbside:( did someone say you could get kits to change that?

Damn, that is some pretty amazing work!

I've stopped buying those Tamiya kits (too damn expensive) :grumpy: and my last 2 kits got destroyed when my fan's blades fell off and hit em'.

RIP Sogo Keibi Porsche 911 GT2 & Jagermeister Alfa Romeo 155. :(

I might consider buying another one now though.. you've lifted my spirits to try again. :D

Yeah. What you've done so far looks like your putting a good deal of work into it and your pretty good at it. It'll look awsome none the less.

Except for one thing......

You got the "cute" WRX. You need the aggressive one, like this style:

Haha, I just love showing off this picture.
