Announcing the sixth (already!) of the weekly series of CAR OF THE WEEK!

A chance for everyone on GTPlanet to get behind the wheel of the same car, give it a thorough going over. The aim is to get people driving what they wouldn't usually drive, or have been overlooked. They may be great, they may be terrible, but as part of GT5 they deserve discussion right here.

People can show off their amazing photos, trade tuning tips, race one another and review that weeks nominated car. Lap times can be posted, top speeds and acceleration times compared and tips on handling discussed.

This is an experimental idea and the format is subject to change or development. The picking of the cars is still under discussion and any offers of help with this from anyone who has more GTPlanet experience than me (which is pretty much everyone!) would be very much appreciated.

So, without further ado, this weeks star car of the week.

This week, unlike previous weeks where I have given some of the best posters the chance to pick (I will return to that format next week, promise!) I have asked someone whose opinion I value dearly. I do the majority of my racing in split screen with a real person - a mate of mine and after much discussion I have agreed to let him pick the car of the week for this week. If it wasn't for the fact he is the most computer illiterate person on the planet he would be on here all the time and I am sure you would respect him as much as I do.

So without further ado, this weeks superstar car is...

The BMW 2002 Turbo 73'.

So get testing, get snapping, get discussing and most importantly...
GET RACING!

Fun choice!👍👍

Just hope everyone can find it.:O

Excellent(doing best Mr.Burns impression)

I still have a 0.0 miler from when it was in the OCD, and an already broken in one I think.

Baby bimmer! Das ist gut, ja?

Great choice. Your mate has good taste.

What's that? I think I hear The Ring calling....

Expect my review sometime this weekend, as usual.

I absolutely love the 2002 Turbo, I have one tuned to vintage racing specs, its an excellent little car. Nice choice.

Great choice. I love this car. I use it quite often. (This week's seasonal, most recently). This is another car which can be undertuned, and still dominate the PP range.

ugg... I'd love to love this car but in my efforts to "tune" the car I have made it into a bi-polar axe murderer...

This is the perfect excuse for me to redouble my efforts and make it what it should be.

You skipped the 5th week?

Last week was mislabeled. I have a corrected list at the end of my reviews each week.

Give the man a break, he just learned to count yesterday.

I have a Praiano tuned version of this. It's a purpose built slider. I will go to 'Sheet B' and try to make a gripper. :scared:

That is indeed the case, there have already been sackings in the quality control department. Most likely a slight oversight in the cut and copying...

Seems like this is not such an undiscovered pearl as was first thought. Still, it is so much fun...

Keep the reviews rolling in and next week, it could be your choice!

Make me.

.....
....well okay, but not till later.

...jerk

j/k

I'm actually really, really looking forward to this car.

...however....

I've also commited myself to another GTPlanet project this week, and have challenged some new team, so who knows when. It will be this weekend, even if you don't see it till early Monday morning.

Just have to finish watching a Barbie movie. Then I can take one out for a spin. Oh that Barbie.

@McClarenDesign - I would make you if I could, you routinely produce some of the best reviews and comedy I have the opportunity to lay my eyes upon. However the Atlantic Ocean stops me from being able to call around and beat a review out of you (well, that and the fact that I have to stay up until silly O'clock in the morning to watch qualifying). Still, I appreciate other committments may prevent you from bringing your A-game.

I am not a born reviewer, merely a man who had a dream. And a man who, after sending the other half away for a night with the girlies, has discussed this subject at length with his mate and many cans of Guiness. Conclusion? This car should be made president of the world. And it is more fun than an olive oil bath with Keira Knightly and Natalie Portman, but not as much fun as a pillow fight with the girl who lives next-door-but-one. We may have digressed. But still, it rules.

Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button would rock das bimmer! Can't wait till qualifying!

Cool, another great choice for COTW! This one is a fun driving car, no complaints about this one. I might have to break in my 0\0\0 version this time round while experimenting with a different tune. :)

Have a good one

Who called it? That's right!

Also, I noticed something and would like to bring it up before it gets out of hand.

The Car of the Week's description (according to PD in the game) states that the turbo was "a KKK-made turbocharger..".

The AUP forbids hate speech. The opportunity for plenty of jokes are there, and they do write themselves, but this forum is not the place for social debate or politcal beliefs.

We're here to race and have fun. WE. All of us.

I understand KKK bashing is also easy, but I do live in a country that's allegedly free, and thus must defend someone's right to say something I don't like. However, that being said, this forum is neither the time, nor the place.

I have faith in most everyone here, but felt I should address the issue before it's brought up in my upcoming review (as I add all PD car descriptions in my review, right or wrong). I'm not asking for "censorship", I'm asking for restraint. Please, pretty please, don't use this unfortunate name as a basis for a joke or debate.

Just drive the damn thing and have some fun... with the rest of us.

Excellent choice again, another one I've had for ages since winning it and not driven much.

Looking forward to the reviews.

On the start of the new year, my tuning garage, Clueless Tunes hosted a Classic Car Shootout. My entry in the shootout was theBMW 2002 Turbo '73 "zucken" tune.

A 500pp ride on sport soft tires. Very fun. But for the Car Of The Week, I may see what this car has with only a tuned suspention and tuned drivetrain. This could be very FUN :dopey:

Where do we find these weekly cars ?
Most of them have been in the then current OCD. If you don't have them from there you'll have to either find them in the UCD or have them sent to you either as a gift or a trade.

The week 4 Audi TT is available in the NCD.

This weeks car you'll have to look for in the UCD although it has been in past OCDs.

Thank you, I will go have a look

My birthday ticket car!!! (Gives my age away), anyhoo Iv'e two of these little tail wagging things in various tunes and they are good fun. I must give one a mad paint colour though

Off we go again then, another week another car.

I have the BMW in my garage with only 1.4 miles on the clock since winning it in the Extreme Series A-spec DTC Championship, but off we go for an oil change which bumps the bhp up to about 170.

A spin round the Nurburgring first with the stock comfort soft tyres.

It drives nicely enough, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed. I expected greater acceleration with the 2.0l turbo and fairly light weight. I complete the lap in 9:46.599.

I think the black paint is too dark and sombre so off to GT Auto to look for some authentic BMW colours. I settle on Darkagelb and then add a sports air filter and exhaust as well as some sport soft tyres. PP is now 402 with 188bhp.

Back to Nurburgring, but the GP/F course this time. More grip obviously from the tyres and I get round in 2:36.453, could have gone for more laps as I was getting to enjoy it more, but I stopped to get some photos.

Looks much better in the yellow I think.

Watching the replay the suspension is pretty soft and I guess it would respond well to a bit of tuning.
