I just begun playing Shift 2 (played for about 90 mins.). At what point become the (for me) interesting GT3/GT1 cars available ?
Plus, can you pick another car than in your garage for quick races ? I remember ' loaner cars' in Shift 1, but don't think I saw that option in Shift 2.

You can buy GT1/GT3 cars anytime, both class events need you to enter your own car first, though they will reward you one once you beat the Championship. GT1 events are locked until you beat the GT3 Championship.
All the Hot Lap events provide their cars, you cannot use your own cars, so as other special events. Most classed events have requirements, for example, you cannot use a class C car for a class D event; some race events have minimum limit, e.g. you cannot use a class B car for a class A event.
Money comes quickly in this game. I have over 800k credits sitting in my account but I'm only spending a fraction of it on cheapo C and D class cars.
What I find extremely nice is that you can always sell your cars + upgrades for exactly the same as what you paid for them. So you never really lose any money! If you don't like a car? Not a single credit wasted! 👍
you only lose money spent on upgrades before the work convertion.. my mclaren f1 cost 2 mil.. work convert can be sold for 2.2 mil... so you get you work convert money back if you sell it..
you can not sell work convertion once you buy it.. you have to sell the car to get the work money back!
it's only till you reach level 20. There are huge cash rewards when you reach next level. But once you are at level 20, you won't get quick money anymore.
The good thing is that almost always you can refund money spent for cars and upgrades. Except that money you've spent for upgrades BOFORE works conversion. But honestly, most cars after works conversion behave so bad that not worth its money. So just upgrades without works conversion is much better.
