Car to defeat Formula GT

Hi all,
Basically I need a setup that will win me the Formula GT Chamionship, using a non-Formula GT car. Because although I love GT 4, I do not love the idea of a 24hr Endurance PS2 session to win one. :yuck:

The only three cars I have that I think stand any real sort of chance are:
Toyota Minolta
Pesceralo (sp?)
CLK GTR

Personally the Pesceralo is the one that does it for me - with Soft/Qualifying tires I can destroy the other racers, but obviously frequent pit stops are a major problem. Does anyone think it's worth trying to win the championship with one of these three, and if so, which one and what settings should I use (I realise I will probably have to change them more than once, so maybe just give the settings for Tokyo)?
Thanks for the help guys.

hmm, for formula gt, I just set b-spec Bob at the wheel. my ps2 is diehard. i've left it on for 10 days straight. but, i won f1 gt with a f1 car. as for the 88c-v, you need to seriously modify it for it to be even a challenge to a f1. I have no experience with a clk-gtr.and for the Pescarolo, are you using the playstation one? But yes. Either way, the pit stops will be a problem.

Hah, my B-spec guy is useless, never hits top speed and is scared of overtaking. :)
Yeah I'm using the Playstation Pescarolo. Like I said, it can make mincemeat of the F1 car for a few laps, but trying to use super hard tires is a no-no and they only seem to pit once every 7 or so laps, I just can't compete with that!

The CLK is very fast, but no match overall for the Pesci, and the Minolta is good for the test course, and not much else (mine anyway hah).

Cheers.

Formula GT...not an easy series to win without a Formula GT car but it is possible. Im sure it has been answered before...but anyway...

Ok some suggestions and have proven to be done....

A stock Playstation Pescarolo Judd 04 Race Car can win the championship..link below

A stock Audi R8 has done it and is possible to win without adding power mods...link below for proof:

Sauber C9 Mercedes is possible to win via stock, but its tyrelife is something to question...link below for proof:

Another car that can do it and I have done it but did not make a race report yet as I do not have time is a stock Mazda 787B. It is a good car to have, one of the most easiest Group C cars to drive and if tuned can beat the Formula GT Cars. All for 200 A-Spec points.

Be wary that the car's performance in terms of HP goes down as you drive it through the series even if you oil change after every race and do remember if doing the series championship in full to claim the Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car, you cannot do a chassis refresh and it goes after two races...so be careful on handling the car. You will need to run the cars using max downforce and most times you can run longer than the Formula GT.

So for cars I would recommend the Playstation Pescarolo Judd 04 Race Car, the Audi R8 or the Mazda 787B. But be careful as the performance of the cars will go down for every race especially if you take the full 15 races.

It is key you practice with the car and tune it right...Team666 has some good settings by clicking the links below...

LMP/GTP Team 666 settings

Group C Team 666 Settings

A general guide to tuning the LMP/Group C cars using Team666 settings guidelines as follows:

GEARBOX: Tune the gearbox so you get the rev limiter to the end but without it bouncing. But make sure you give it an extra 1000 or so revs so you can slipstream in the Formula GT cars without it bouncing right at the end. The tranny trick is very useful as you can get the best acceleration and adjust the final to get the limiter right at the end of the longest straight with some room in case if you get a tow/slipstreaming to pass.

SUSPENSION...a little tricky but Team 666 has some good settings. For smoother faster tracks...you can stiffen the suspension and lower the right height. For twisty and bumpy tracks...soften the suspension and raise the ride height. This is really trial and error and you got to be used to the suspension settings so practice before you race. I cannot give you a definate good settings...as it varies from driver to driver.

DOWNFORCE: You need to keep it on the max 63/88 downforce for all circuits even if it the faster ones....for every car.

LSD: Up to you...but Team666's settings as above goes for trailbraking...if you do not like trailbraking...then lower the LSD settings down a bit...again trail and error.

TYRELIFE AND TYRES: Relies on suspension settings, LSD, downforce, brakes and driving style. Keep toe angle 0, 0 for tyrelife. Depending on the circuit...you will need to judge whether going for a harder tyre compound will gain you more time then going with a slightly softer compound. Go for a softer compound like all mediums when qualifying/practice to get pole position which is important. Except in the Ring you will need to go at least hard tyres to get around two laps.

As a rule of thumb go for hard tyres all round or Super Hard rears and Hard fronts. Do not go lower than medium for long runs as well you will need to time your pit stops. So you will need to work out how long your tyres can survive for and when you need to it.

NOS: You can buy NOS if you wish as a back up. But if you do then keep it at the lowest figure and only if you need it as it has limited quantity. But use it if you want it as a backup to keep ahead.

PIT STOPS: Only go for as long as you need and work out how much fuel you will need to last until the next stop. So only fuel as much as you can get to get to the next round of stops. Do come in when your tyres are worn..and depending on the car's tyrelife will vary.

DRIVING AIDS: Traction control you will need only and at most need at least a couple of clicks to preserve tyrelife, do not use ASM as it slows it down.

Finally...practice and practice...it is hard but not possible. As well it is trial and error so do not give up.

Anyway that is my two cents worth and just wondering...you should really move this thread to the general Gran Turismo 4 rather than the settings thread....and I am sure it has been answered before.
