Ok, this car has been sitting in my driveway for 1.5 years, just need it to get out of park, so that the car can be jumped and taken away.

Car : 1991 Mazda 626 Sedan.

2.2 L I-4.

Thats about all I can tell from this POS

sometimes tranny gets stuck within the synchros...start it, and get a couple of buddies to shake the crap out of it from the outside, pushing the car back and forth. had this same issue with a 1990 dodge shadow...once you get it out of park, and you need it to stay put, leave it in neutral and use the parking brake. btw the 1991 626 is a great car, i had one with a manual though...450'000 kms on her before she died...

i experienced this problem with my crappy 05 corolla. If its parked on a hill(even the slightest slope) and the parking brake isnt used, the gears might jam up. I had to force the lever really hard to get it into gear

Ok, thanks much will do!

My mom is giving it to a friend of hers for free.

Mods can close the thread if deemed necesary.

When in park there is a pin in the gearbox that locks up the output of the transmission with the housing, this is what can get jammed, to get it out you'll need to do something like TwinTurboJay said, get some friends to rock the car back and forth (with the parking brake off) while someone trys to pull it out of park. (make sure they are ready on he brake)
