Carlist WITH pictures??

Is there a carlist with pictures? So not links to pictures, but just a page with all cars presented as thumbs?
That would be sweet!


If there is not, I will give 10 cars to the first one who makes it ;)
 
A full list with thumbs is excessive. Why is a list with links to pics not good enough? A full list with EVERY car having a thumb means you have to load over 1030 images on one page.

Milouse has a very nice list compiled here.

Links suck, cause I want a list with thumb for a better overview. I don't know each car by name, but I do so by looks.
And 1030 images shoudln't be a problem, as long as they are just small images.
 
Because loading over 1000 images on one page is ridiculous for bandwidth and accessing (especially on mobile devices). Does this even make sense to you?

I suggest getting to know your cars better then. Knowing cars by looks should be able to atleast tell you what manufacturer makes the car you are looking at. If not, well, tough luck. Learn the hard way.

Well, as a webexpert I can tell you if you do it right, there is absolutely no problem in putting over a 1000 images in one page. For mobile phones it's another story. But I'm not using GTP on my mobile, and neither will one be forced to watch it on his mobile.

As I stated earlier...I don't plead for a replacement of the current car list, but for a new list with thumbs.

So I don't really understand your objection :odd:

As a webexpert you should obviously be aware that it is considered extremely bad practice to use so many separate resources in a single web page. On any kind of browser or device.

What happened to that car image thing that was on some demo stands of the game, had all the cars in one massive zoomable image. I guess that was another feature that never made it into the game

I wanted to make it look like the garage in game, but I would need all the thumbs for that. I think the only way to get them, that I know of, is to 'share' your car online through the game, go to you're GT5 Home (https://us.gran-turismo.com/us/gt5/signin/), go to you're profile and copy the images themselves. This would be quite a task for one person, because you can only do 6 at a time, but with a community like this, it could be much more feasible.

Here's what some of the images look like:

Let me know what you think, maybe we can organize some sort of community help program... The nice thing is, this way they all look the same and are in the same position, ect.

It's too bad that you can't view your entire garage when accessing your "My Home" on Gran Turismo

All you can see is the cars that you have shared with your friends.

Right, which means that we would have to post 6, go save them, go back to the game, post 6 more, ect. The problem with this approach (as far as I can see) is that the community as a whole would have to have all the cars.

I have been saving them as the name of the car (in the mouse-over tip) in png format.

Another problem with this approach is that you will get the thumb from the car as you have it. It would be better to have all the thumbs from standard cars (so no fancy carpaint or mods).
 
Thats true too, the different paints wouldn't be that big of a deal, but with cars having the RM Mod, we would have to have both.

PS: Did you ever get your images to come up?
 
My "Shared" cars show up. It's just too bad we can view our entire garage or at the least our favorites.

Nice, at least it worked, although 6 at a time does suck :yuck: Could you save each thumbnail (right click -> save as) as a .png and post it here?

What I like about these thumbnail images is that they are our personal cars in the game with all the modifications that we've done to them and not just a random picture of the car.

haha...thats what I don't like so much. I rather have a standard picture of every car

"awfull"? are you ****ing kidding me? that database lists almost EVERY car with cost, specs, and even a PICTURE if you take the half a second to click on it. that took a considerable amount of time and effort just to create the database structure. what the hell is wrong with you?

my god, you guys are like spoiled kids. at least they took the time to make the database. what have you done? nothing except complain about it and ask other people to do it for you.

i think you should watch this from the 1:24 mark.
