"awfull"? are you ****ing kidding me? that database lists almost EVERY car with cost, specs, and even a PICTURE if you take the half a second to click on it. that took a considerable amount of time and effort just to create the database structure. what the hell is wrong with you?

my god, you guys are like spoiled kids. at least they took the time to make the database. what have you done? nothing except complain about it and ask other people to do it for you.

Yeah, it has all the info, but that doesn't change the looks of things.
If you look at it from a user point of view, it doesn't get any worse than that.

2nd
My point is that I don't want to click, I want to browse through the thumbs (as stated earlier this topic).
I don't know every car by name, I just want to look at all the cars and think: Hey...I want that one!

3rd
I haven't done anything yet, BUT I'm going to help others collecting all thumbs (as stated earlier this topic).
BTW: where do you see me complain? I just ask if theres something out there, that's all.

Read the whole topic first instead of acting like a little **** without knowing what the **** you are talking about.

Something like this? I've been making it for my garage. But still needs alot of cars :D

Nam67 I would love something like that for my collection. How did you put it together?

Have you created one for each manufacturer?

I also like the idea of a browsable list of pictures...(dreaming here but click on it and it brings the cars details up...)

Just copy paste from all the logo's and images from the gran-turismo site and combine them in Photoshop. I don't have all the manufacturers but I'm getting there. The thing is those thumbs, it takes ages before they chance in your profile.

Yeah, thats the annoying part. Isn't there a way to make screenshots from your ps3, just like the PrtScn button on a pc?

Are you actually seeing the cars in your 'Home'? If so, just right click on them and save as. If not, you have to go in game and select your car and click 'share online' or something.

It might be possible to collect every car in every colour, too. That's been done before, and is easy for the Premium cars. That way, you can see what colour a car can come in (by name) and, if you have that colour, it's easy enough to paint it if you can't wait for it in the Used Car Dealership. Additionally, you can surf for colours and find out which cars to buy for a given colour (if you're desperate.)

I like Nam67's layout and feel, the way it mirrors the game's presentation.
Is the idea still to post to this thread as and when thumbnails are generated?

Yeah sure, I will post too as soon as I have something to post ;)

Well, it seems I can not change my thumbs anymore. I selected share with friend, they showed on my online profile, but when I go back ingame, the are not shown as shared and if I select other cars as shared, the online profile still shows the originals.

I found you sometimes have to log out and log back in for the information to be refreshed.

Here are some of my thumbs:

It seems sometimes you just need to wait for Sony's / PD's servers to process your uploads. Bit of a pain...

I started with my Standards, chronologically :p

Gah. It seems Imageshack doesn't like apostrophes. :ouch:

Its going to be hard with just pictures to quickly find the car and you say you can tell a car by looks and not by name. So many cars in small images. Goodluck finding the car.

I was under the impression that these images would contribute to some sort of "app", online or otherwise, that should allow for searching, etc.

It would be a bit pointless otherwise...

EDIT: My ImageShack gallery is here. I'll get around to adding more when "GT5 My Home" starts playing ball again

I was thinking of using these in my app, but I think it would be usefull for anyone looking to develop some sort of app for GT5.

I don't remember hearing that demo view as being a promised feature. Someone else said it was on the first page too. As far as I knew, it was just a preview, just something PD whipped together so we could see the cars. Are some people assuming it would have been in the game if we saw this before the release? If so, people need to stop making this stuff up.

Well, I haven't seen that before, but if it exists, why not put it online?

Well, ImageShack usefully removes spaces in filenames, as well as handily chopping them short. I'll have to maintain a list of cars, and their colours, and do things the hard way.

Hommell Berlinette R/S Coupe '99 - Bleu Metallise ....... Honda CIVIC SiR-II (EG) '91 - Carnival Yellow
Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC2) '99 - Milano Red ............. Jaguar E-TYPE Coupe '61 - Opalescent Bronze Metallic
Lotus Europa Special '71 - Regency Red .................. Mazda DEMIO SPORT '03 - Spicy Orange Mica
Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99 - Kilder Green Pearl ............. Nissan SKYLINE GT-R N1 (R32) '91 - Crystal White
Nissan SKYLINE GTS-t Type M (R32) '91 - Dark Blue Pearl . Peugeot 106 Rallye '03 - Gris Aluminium
Subaru SUBARU 360 '58 - Fresh Blue ...................... Suzuki WAGON R RR '98 - Silky Silver Metallic
Tommy Kaira ZZ-S '00 - Green Metallic ................... Toyota COROLLA LEVIN GT-APEX (AE86) 83 - High-Tech Two-Tone
Toyota MR2 Spyder '99 - Black ........................... Toyota PRIUS G Touring Selection (J) '03 - Blue Mica
Toyota VITZ U Euro Sport Edition '00 - Yellow Mica Metallic

I think a textual list and a link to the album will have to suffice (on my part) until it becomes clearer how and where we can begin to amass this exceptionally large resource...

playview demo was promised to be IN the game... i try to find the site again...

What you saw on video is not a Gran Turismo demo, it's a demo for a Sony tech that has nothing to do with games but with large image scalling. It used GT5 cars as an example, but the way some report about this has been written would have fooled lot of people.

Yeah, it has all the info, but that doesn't change the looks of things.

I'm glad people have different views when it comes to design, but allow me to express my own and to tell you that feedback from website users - which is highly positive and constructive - would always worth more than a specialist view, unless he's also a user himself, and have equal worth than my opinion (because i'm also a user of the website myself). Actually, i pay particular attention to criticism, but i have yet to find something useful in what you said so far. Beyond this, I must say that i'm very concerned by and interested in user interfaces in general, and that in most of the way the site is currently design is assumed as non-academic.

Still, i'm myself not happy with many things on the website, but i'm confident that it is, at least, good for what it is designed for. I'm using it every day, as thousands of other payers that browse cars and the two thousand that manage and share their garage online.
Unless many website on every subject, it doesn't use a CMS, but is made from scratch : things takes more time to be done at first, but the middle and long term potential is huge, as almost everything needed can me done (with time).

About visual way to browse cars, it's on my (too long...) todo list, but should not use in-game thumbails, and i'm not sure of the result, because 1047 images to browse in visually is a lot (and may be barely functionnal when browsing for specs). I wasn't able to work on website for several weeks, and I will still have to wait 5 more days to dive again into it.

Guyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys, umm... ever heard of the apex book? :dunce:
Its only missing like 20 cars, and it has a picture of every car.
It also has the BHP, weight, and all the other nessisary stats
Even though it was CE exclusive, a .pdf cant be that hard to find.
Ill take my ten cars please

I'm not here to give a lecture on how I think the site would be better, I just said that I think it looks awfull. That's it!
I do admire the effort which has been put into it, and I'm sure it's very usefull indeed. It's just not what I'm looking for.
