Right this is a ranty thread about cars that are well below par in the game.

Caterham Fireblade:

When I saw this in the used car lot I got overly excited took it to Tsubaka and what a let down! tuned it up and it's still ****e! hmmm this one disappoints me the most.

Lamborghini:

I've not driven the Miura so can't pass comment on that but the Gallardo and Murcilago are just dire you have to tune them to get them half way decent.

Jaguar E-Type:

Now this is actually quite fun but if it drove like this in real life it would kill and eat everyone who drove it.

That's it for now I'll add when I need a rant

Gallardo drives just fine for me. Maybe it is your driving style?

The Vits, yaris OFC(similar cars here) are a big let down. I expected F1 style handling :dopey:

Miura's worse.

Oh and my gripe car is Corvette ZR1. Worst driving car I have ever driven in a racing game. My new least favorite car.

I can't comment on the handling of the E-Type as I've never actually driven one, but in game it's a ton of fun. I used a stock one to beat the classics races in beginner, and they were great races.

I really like the caterham too. Depending on the track you can out maneuver some supercars and win. Though it does seem to take a long time to rev up, 0-60 is terrible even with all the flywheel, drive shaft upgrades, etc.

AWD GTRs have always been my least favorite cars to drive. For some reason I can't handle AWD cars well, except for the EVO and Audis/Lamborghinis.

It depends on your driving style, I'm really aggressive and I don't mind drifting at the cost of a few seconds off lap times so I prefer front engined RWD cars with just enough torque to slide it off corners easy.

everybody keeps saying how the lambo's are difficult. granted, the only one i've driven is the SV, but that thing owns. maybe i'll understand better once i finally get around to picking up a gallardo. i just haven't been able to rationalize that kind of a purchase for ONE RACE

.....Finish the special events and you won't be struggling for credits. I've bought like 20+ cars in the game that I haven't even driven yet.

What about that electric sportcar - the one based on, or looks like, the Lotus? iirc, in another thread someone said that in the realworld the electic sportcar can do 0 - 60mph in ~4sec but in the game it takes like ~7s?
:)

(OT...haha I just noticed all the smileys have Santa caps! cool!)

The Tesla, yeah. It's not great in real life, but it's terrible in game.

Nothing wrong with the Gallardo. That's capable some decent lap times compared to cars of a similar class. Its 4wed drive handling may seem unusal at first, but its actually suprisingly grippy

"Below Par" is actually a good thing (in golf)

Idiocy aside, a big letdown was the Enzo Ferrari. Just never felt fast in that thing.

Miura's worse.

Ehhh... what's wrong with it? (To be honest though, I wasn't very pleased with it either right out of the box, even though it's one of my favorite "dream" cars that I drive in every sim I can find.)

Although I haven't driven an actual ZR-1, I've driven plenty of similar high HP torquey cars, and it seems to handle about the way I would expect it to when TCS is turned off. It does take a little tweaking on the suspension though, due to PD apparently not setting up any of the cars with what would be factory suspension settings.

BTW - I love throwing the ZR-1 around in GT5 now. ;)

You don't need to feel fast to be fast. It's actually the other way around, you do your best lap times when you feel comfortable. Kind of like how drifting feels fast yet it's really slow.

Viper SRT10 ACR. Too much understeer even for an American car, gearing that tolerates only one specific gear for a certain speed - one higher and it bogs down even with all that torque, and to top it off an engine that throws a fuel cut almost instantly after redline.

In other words, you keep waiting for the redline to shift so the engine won't die after the shift and end up hitting the limiter. And understeer off the track in the process because you have to concentrate on the tachometer far too much to keep the car moving. I expected something far more enjoyable to drive.

I think if people start throwing the "below par" label on cars then they should at least tell us what tire type and handicaps they are running. Frustrations may be preventable through adjustments in settings.

It's the Mclaren F1 for me I love the car but it spins out way too much and even fully tuned it's acceleration is amazingly slow.

The problem I have with most Lambos is that, they just don't look that good without a spoiler. They look like they are standing with their backsides sticking out. [Sorry, Off-Topic]

[On Topic] The stock Gallardo isn't good to race with, but for drifting it is great.... only thing is... that I've sold it. Bob can have it when I have the mental strength to get him up to lvl 17.

Um....in RL you'd be crazy to drive a ZR1 with TCS off. Just an FYI from someone who has driven and owned quite a few Corvettes in his life.

What? The Caterham, no good to drive? It's great fun! As are the (well, my fully modded) Gallardo and the LP-670 SV, though I don't have an E-Type yet.

I've not found a car in the game that doesn't drive how you'd expect, you just have to make sure the brake bias is appropriate and the tyres you're running them on aren't pushing things too far. I'll admit that I was taken completely by surprise by the Murcielago LP-640 on the Grand Tour event, but then I read about their unusually high engine placement (in real life, this is). That just brought memories of the Lancia Stratos flooding back (another car with a high midship engine, with the added complication of a tiny wheelbase), then it all made sense.

Although as I said, cars do need appropriate tyres (the comforts on the 11R in the Top Gear event are an example of inappropriate tyres, I don't mean you have to put racing softs on everything) and a bit of practice to get the brake balance sorted. I don't think you'll find a single car in real life with the same braking force front and rear, there's a reason why a lot of 'cold' hatchbacks have discs up front but rear drums... That Caterham, though, how can you NOT love such a lightweight car with that screamer of an engine? It may not pull as hard as you'd expect, but let's not forget it's a motorbike engine, they're not known for their torque.

I have the Caterham, The Gallardo and the XKE and they are all superb cars, The Fireblade is a total drift beast, The Gallardo can keep up with some pure racing cars and the XKE is a joy to drive as standard

The Maserati Gran Turismo is nice to look at like but drives like a heap of toss.

What do you mean? That car handles beautifully.

Agreed. That car is just flat awesome to drive.

Yeah...unless you own your own tire company. But it sure is fun in the game if you aren't concerned about grip racing. :D

The FGT it feels amazing in the high speed corners but as soon as you get to a slow corner it seems to slide way more than it should...
