Cars with almost fully functional gauges?

I'm not trying to nitpick, but PD should've got every premium car's gauge cluster/dashboard to have working gauges. I know that some have either working fuel gauges, others have oil pressure, boost pressure, clock... but never all. I can't find a place anywhere that lists these things. I've started wanting these things ever since I started the endurance races. Below I'll list what cars I discovered to have these things (only road going production cars because I've read somewhere that GT500 cars have fuel gauges and the Mazda 787B have other readouts.) Feel free to add any I missed, as I am going off of memory of what cars have these thing:

The new VW GTI and scirocco have working fuel guages.
I'll help you with finding other cars with working fuel guages :).

I actually think all the new GT-R's have working fuel guages, except of course the prototype.

Ohh, and the Nissan Leaf also have working fuel/battery guages.
The Lamborghini Aventador also has a working fuel guage, aswell as a clock.

Found some interesting info on the fuel guage in the Mazda 787B.

"I found that every "50" ticks ended up being 7 liters. After my first lap I stopped for a pit and needed 10 liters @ a reading of 75, same on my next lap. Finding the number odd, I used up exactly 50 ticks and needed 7 liters. Then 100 ticks (50 to 0, 99 to 50) and needed 14 liters. After 150 ticks needing 21 liters. So it appears every 50 ticks is 7 liters and if my math is right on the 6 1/2 cycle you might wanna think about fuel having less than 10 liters left."

In other words. You can drive through 7 sets of "99" in the 787B, before needing to refuel.

Very interesting. Especially considering I started racing with the 787b recently.
 
Based on the info that are coming in, I think that cars that get released post 2.00 have working fuel gauges, hoping they implement this to the rest of the premium cars.

Not entirely. The new Aston, and the new Mini's do not have working guages. Don't know about the Bettle, as it takes an absurd amount of time to use up gasoline in the low powered cars. I went a full lap on X-Route with the Bettle, and could only refill it with 4 liters :D.
 
True, I tried to do the same thing with my favorite car (Honda S2000) around daytona and after 4 or 5 laps i ended up using less than 10 liters and gave up after that.

The two new VW’s (Golf VI R & Scirocco R) also having working clocks in the center but you need a magnifying glass to see it. The Golf also has what appears to be a working MPG or L/100km readout but that’s even smaller but does change. When coasting looks like it says "99.9" then on the throttle it bounces high and low. The Scirocco’s does NOT seem to have the same feature.

I’ve been slowly working on finding what cars having working gauges, but didn't think it was important to anyone else. I haven’t been taking notes of the Tachometers, Speedometers or Gear Indicator since most cars have these features. Just to mention a few:

*The 787b has digital fuel readout as Jawehawk quoted, and it also has a L/100km readout not MPG as I initially thought amongst other things.
*The GT-R N24’s fuel gauge in the cluster also works and the digital readout has the previous laptime.
* I didn’t think the fuel gauge worked on the Toyota 86 GT ’12 but I could be wrong. It does have a working clock which can only be seen in replay mode using one of the other two interior cam views.
*The Maserati GranTurismo S ‘08 has a clock (digital & analog) odometer/trip odometer (in 10x) and fuel gauge.
*GT500 cars have a mix of different info. On the Hondas I’m not sure what the number on the wheel is. It goes from 12.6 at idle to 13.2 to 13.7 when moving. My guess is oil pressure but I have that under “other” for now.
*The two F1 cars have nothing outside of RPM, Speed & Gear Indicator. Even the F2007 with all those numbers, nothing changes.
*As many people know the Chrysler Prowler, even though it’s standard, does have working gauges but I forgot what worked so I need to recheck. The Tachometer & Speedometer are what I remember, but the fuel gauge would be a guess.

Incase it was missed in future post here are some neat (to me at least) things I’d like to point out…..

*The Chevrolet Camaro SS ’10 has a working digital speedometer. The interesting part is that it stops at 180 mph. I know the analog gauge stops at 180 but the electronic one also??:dunce:

*The Chevrolet Camaro SS ’10 RM has what appears to be a launch indicator or wheel spin indicator. Reason being… when moving forward and only forward, the number above the lap time changes from “10” to “00” When I had wheel spin that number stayed at 10 till I had grip and dropped to 0. If I had no wheel spin it dropped to 0 immediately and I never saw 10 again till I was at a full stop. Coasting from a stop with no input would cause it to drop to 0 as soon as I had 1 mph. Any clarification on what exactly it is would be cool. I admit I’m pretty much guessing.

*The Infiniti Coupe Concept ’06 has NO wipers or side mirrors even though it’s a premium car. I guess it truly is a “Concept”.

*The Jaguar XKR Coupe ’10 has an indicator for when either you go into reverse or the reverse lights are on. It’s next to the high beam indicator and is yellow.

*The Nissan Leaf G ’11 has engine timer or total time readout. Not sure if it is indeed an engine timer since I haven’t driven it in a race, finished that race and started a new race to see if the time is carried over like an odometer reading.

*Finally the Volkswagen Golf IV GTI RM ’01 has an odd way of letting you know when the high beams are on. In the center of the dash, there is a strip of lights that are dim when the high beams are off and will get brighter when the high beams are on.

Awesome list Bman. I can tell you that the fuel guage in the F40 does not work, which is a real shame too, as it's such a great drive.

I'll love to help you complete the list. That way, we could get a complete list of cars with working guages on the forum. I'll continue tommorow with testing some of the Ferrari's. If anyone else is up for testing, then please post wha cars you're focusing on, so we don't have two or more people, testing the same cars.

btw. howcome you haven't added the Mazda 787b to the list Bman?
 
Besides the fuel gauge on the Gallardo, does anyone know what the number in the center of the cluster mean (not the gear indicator)? It seems to me like it's for fuel economy. Everytime the car idles the #s are in double digits, but when under full throttle or crusing, the number lowers.

Thanks for the complement. I will mark the F40 for a working fuel gauge. I’ll check out the Lamborghinis and the rest of the cars in the “USA” category. I missed marking the 787b. Thanks for catching it. I don’t have the chrome cars, 787b Stealth, SLS Stealth, or R10 Stealth so I can’t confirm they have the same results as their counterparts.

Also, since you were able to view the spreadsheet, does it seem user friendly or do you have a suggestion to improve it? I know all the “Y’s” and “N’s” look cluttered, but that makes it easier for me to know what cars and functions I haven’t checked and also having a “Y” or “N” there is a definitive Yes or No. No guessing required. Plus the color difference hopefully helps separates them.

When I run the Lamborghinis, I’ll check it out. It sure sound like fuel economy by your description, but a second opinion won’t hurt.

Thanks for the tip. The fuel gauge did work when I check it oh so long ago, but didn’t notice the odometer. I mean I saw it there, but I didn’t think those numbers would roll or change since it’s not digital but it’s good to know.

No, I said the F40 does NOT have a working fuel guage :).

I think the list is very comprehensible 👍.

I have the chromeline cars, so I can do some testing with those. Though I'm fairly certain the results would be the same as their normal counterparts.

About the file. Can't you just edit your previous post, and then manage attachments? Then delete the current one, and upload the new one.

Edit: The Enzo only has a working oil guage. Nothing else ):
Ferrari 599 and California have nothing. That's it for the Ferrari's. All the F430 variants have working oil guages, along with the 512 and F40.

I corrected the F40. My fault... I misread your post. I will give the attachment management thing a try in the edit menu. Saw your edits of the Enzo, 599 and California. I'll put them in. Thanks for the help.
 
Nissan leaf's battery gauge works with both a progress bar and how much distance you have until the battery goes dry.

It's the Air/Fuel Ratio.
 
This is an interesting thread, well some of the functional gauges that should appear or are expected to be seen in the cockpit could be omittable for want of investigation to find out further details of such small gauges originally equipped in the interior of a detailed car.

R33 Skyline GT-R V-spec has working odometer, trip meter, oil pressure, boost pressure and clock. (not sure about fuel)

McLaren MP4-12C working odometer, trip meter, clock.

Lamborghini LP640-4 and LP670-4 working odometer, trip meter.

Lancia Delta Integrale working oil pressure gauge.

Maserati Gran Turismo S working odometer (I think trip meter also), clock.

Majority of cars have some working indications besides speed and revs.

I'm curious, the odometer is the thing that keeps track on how many miles the car has driven in total, right? So when you all say that a car has a working odometer, you have checked tht it's not just some random number, rather than the actual milage of the car?

If I remember correctly, it's not 1:1 meaning if the display reads "2" it acutally means "20". Reason I say this is because I did a lap around the Nurburgring (before Route X) and it read "2". Well the 'ring is much longer than 2 miles or kilometers. Unless this is normal, it may have been fixed since. I remember doing this particular car before Spec 2.0 so things could have changed.

I didn't check every car for this, but the first few I did compare the number on the dash to the number in the car menu (with the wins, switches, etc). The numbers matched, even if i had to convert from km's to miles on some cars. Most if not all the cars I'm doing this with have 0 miles on them. So when I complete a lap I'm looking for the odometer to read 18.8 (or 18 on Route X) or 15.7 (or 15 miles on the 24hr Nurburgring layout). If I think I need to convert km to miles I do so like I did with the Maserati.

Also, I saw the rest of the Ferrari's you tested and filled them in.👍

The cars that I listed as working odometer (and trip) start at zero when you buy them and log and save the correct milage after that, only the trip meter resets as it should each time you start a event.

Yeah I remember that now on the Maserati, it misses the single digits and only logs every 10 kilometers, so after a lap of Nurb it would say 2.

All premium cars have working speedo and rev counters :).

And that's pretty damn cool that some cars have working odometers.

The Mazda Roadster limited edition '91 and the BMW Concept 1 series '07 do not have working fuel gauges.
The Lotus Espirit sadly does not have a working fuel gauge. It might have either a working odometer or clock. Not sure exactly what it is, but there's a small LCD display in the middle of the speedometer.

I checked the Lotus Espirit and that looks to be the odometer. The number "72.1" stayed like that after two laps at Route X. So I'm gonna say that's not working.

The RM Golf does not have a working fuel guage. I'll get to test the RM Subaru '05 over the next weeks, as I'm in an endurance with it. Perhaps I can get one of the other participants to tell me whether the RM Evo Lancer '05 has a working fuel guage too.
 
I just ran a B-Spec 4hr Nurburgring with the Merc SLS AMG and it does have a fixed fuel gauge at half empty (or as some people call it half-full.) Weirdly, when I ran the GT-86 at Laguna Seca Induro, the gauge works but doesn't reset upon refueling and stays stuck there for the rest of the race?

Wow. I wonder if that's why the GT-86 was free. Where is the recall notice? Just kidding of course. I wonder if update 2.04 caused it or if it was like that from the get go?
