I was playing last nite and the 2D came up up the dealership! I had the money to buy it, so I did and was very happy to have it until I drove it! The "baby" will not stay on the ground. The wheels leave the ground and needless to say that is no help. Has anyone else had any dealing with this car?:grumpy:

Do you have a problem keeping the wheels on the ground in a curve or a bump?:dunce:
It would not let me watch your video!!!

It's only like 700kg in weight so yes, anytime you hit the strips it is going to get loose on you. The other issue I've had is throttle control...only having 3 gears it accelerates very when getting back on the gas.

It is fun to throw it around corners but it is very light so it leaves the ground a lot.

With a couple small tunings, it should be good to go.

Chaparrals have better downforce than most race cars of that era, they were among the first companies to ephasise the importance of downforce! In fact, many '60s race cars had negative downforce (AKA lift)

My brother gifted me the 2D early in my GT5 tenure, and at the time it was my only race car of the era. I spent a whole day between the garage and the track, teaching myself this car.( plenty longer than with any other car) but I emerged with a ride that I am very pleased with. I tuned out alot of its flight charactoristics, and got it to turn quick enough to where the 2J is guaranteed a seat in my dust cloud. I dont use it often anymore, but for races of the era, it cant be beat if you treat it right.

ok thanks... is their a tune you recommend?:sly:

This is a better balanced car then the 2j because it's much more stable and the grip is incredible, almost no understeer.i love it

I have to laugh at your tuning comment. Better balanced that the 2J? Are you kidding me? Apparently you're missing something.

Hmmmmm... Better balanced indeed. Maybe the 75 ballast gets it closer to 50/50 than the 2J? :)

I'm not talking about balanced spec wise, more about handling. And stable, I'll take my 2J over this car anyday and twice on Sundays.

It understeers less then the 2j and it much more stable around the fast corners around the nurburgring

Really? Like I said, I'll take my 2J. I think you're confused, lol. I have tuned both of these cars myself and my 2J is much more stable and way quicker around corners than the 2D. Don't get me wrong, the 2D is a good car, but the 2J is a far better handling car.

If your still struggling to keep it stable just put 200kg worth of ballast on it and max out the downforce.

It definitely handles much better but as they are saying it understeers on the exit of a corner unless you are very smooth entering it, it is still quick around a corner with the understeer but it's a little bit unpredictable at times. Look at my Autumn Ring replay I'm only pressing the brake half way down into turn 1 because if I have it all the way down I'll get a ridiculous amount of understeer and that's with a balance of 40:60.

Don't you use a DS3. I use a wheel and don't have that problem. Don't know if its the use of a wheel, my driving style, or how I have the car tuned, but I'm just not seeing said problem. It is what it is I guess, but for me, I'll stick with my 2J over my 2D.

EDIT: Nevermind about the DS3, just noticed your sig.

The 2J in terms of lap times seems much better, for me it's just easier to be consistent with the 2D because there is more room for error. Either you have a very well balanced setup or you are like Jenson Button in terms of smoothness. :)

Wonderful car for me. It may be very expensive but it's definitely worth it. I think it handles beautifully with a very nice balance and high cornering speeds. It is probably the 3rd fastest historic car after the 2J and Toyota 7 around a lap. Not to mention it looks great and has IMO the best sound of any car in the game. Also very good tyre wear make it very useful for tougher races. I used it in the Nurburgring 4 hour race and it was a joy to behold, flowing sweetly through the fast bends and having plenty of life left in the racing hards after 3 laps.

Yea, my setup is really balanced on my 2J plus I am pretty smooth on the throttle.

You don't have to be smooth if you get rid of most of the understeer in the 2j unless your at the nurburgring

Ok I PM'd ya and told you I'd give you my track tune cause it was different then the other tune on here, but I figure I'd just post it for anyone to try.. The transmission will be up to you as most tracks vary in size and longest straight away.. Just KEEP THOSE GEARS WIDE!! I know first gear will bog at launch but it will be well worth it once you get moving!!

Suspension

Ride height: 3 front, 7 rear
Springs: 13.5 Front, 15.0 rear
Extension: 7 front, 8 rear
Compression: 7 front, 9 rear
Anti-roll: 5 front, 6 rear
Camber: 1.8 front, 0.9 rear
Toe: -0.15 front, +0.15 rear

Brake ballast: 5 front, 6 Rear

Downforce: 50 front, 70 rear

NO WEIGHT ADDED

Limited slip: I run two settings one for Nur and tracks similar (bumpy) 9,17,14
And another for city tracks: 23,23,13

Try this and let me know!

send me it and ill trade for it. TkBreezy96

They cannot be traded, both Chapparal's are around 14,000,000 Cr.

The weight doesn't matter, and the downforce is more than enough to overcome bumps. The 2D has LMP level downforce in GT5.
