For those with a rig without the mount . These are availiable in Australia as a "door stop" from our major hardware retailer . Retail around $10
There is a small 4mm hole inside the tube at the base for a fixing screw

If only I could find somewhere to buy a Buttkicker (Gamer) without breaking the bank. Would love to see a pic of how you mounted your Buttkicker with this little improvisation.

No problem , have used this on an office type chair as an additional mounting point . I found clamping the buttkicker to the original lift shaft caused me to raise the chair higher than I wanted . The extra point has allowed me to drop the chair to its lowest point lining me up perfectly with the wheel stand (next level v2) it has also increased the effect as it sits closer to the base of the chair

If you don't mind telling, did you have to pay a lot to get the BKG? I always wanted one but the only place that sells it have an unreasonable markup.

I was able to find one (amp + transducer) on gumtree in WA for $150.00 which was a great deal until the original amp caught on fire. I sourced the upgraded (amp only) through Pagnian at a small loss $150.00. These guys are now doing the package for $249 http://www.pagnianimports.com.au/buttkicker-products/buttkicker-gamer-2/buttkicker-gamer-2.html .

Would highly recommend but if you find a used unit PLEEEEASE AVOID THE ORIGINAL AMP its a 🤬 fire hazard http://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-s...holy-smoke-my-buttkicker-amp-caught-fire.html

... the immersion is fantastic especially if you connect the buttkicker amp to a sumwoofer output from a theater amp, this captures the low signal perfectly.

Using this has brought back my love of Dirt 2 and 3... you can feel the individual planks on the wooden bridges, the road changing from gravel to bitumen and making a jump on the rally tracks feels great especially on the landing .

I play Roland electronic drums and as an added bonus I attatch this to my throne to "feel" the kick that I miss from not using an acoustic kit anymore

These are great on the shooters also .. BF4 on the PS4 using a machine gun nearly shakes you of the chair.... Its a classic not telling guests its under the chair until it kicks in :eek::eek:

Thanks. Just as I thought. $250 is still a bit out of my price range. Used to see them on US Amazon for around USD$150 2–3 years ago. Now they're always out of stock.

I don't know if you can get these in Australia, but if you can, the Aura AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shakers are excellent. They are 50W RMS 4 Ohm so you can power 1 or 2 with a small subwoofer amp like a Dayton SA 100.

I posted a comparison review of these with Simus Live Bass Pump 3's which are another low cost alternative to Buttkicker products.

As has already been said the Buttkicker Gamer amps should be avoided as they overheat - this is why the amp was redesigned for the Gamer 2.

I also have a Buttkicker Advance which is a much bigger, more powerful unit than Gamer - you might be able to find one of those secondhand, but beware with secondhand Buttkickers that the shaker unit will be fine, but the amp is probably fried.

Added by edit - I forgot to mention, don't forget to isolate the chair or rig from the floor (even if it is carpet) with rubber isolators - these will at least double the effectiveness of the unit - the Penn Elcom 9106 rubber feet are a fraction of the cost of original Buttkicker isolators. For an office chair you could replace the wheels with rubber isolators or put the chair on a rubber mat - this will also stop the vibration transmitting into the floor below and thus annoying other members of the household.
