It allowed AI cars that far exceed the PP limits that you (the player ) are forced to play by and the AI starts over 20-30 seconds ahead on some seasonals ...how are you supposed to win? i have played GT since GT1 first came out...i am very sad to see the series go in this direction and if GT6 is like Gt5..then count me Out

Cat and mouse chases were a foolish move, IMO, from PD. I don't think I've heard a positive comment about them to-date.

However, they're definitely not impossible - I'm a not-brilliant racer, but I still manage to beat the AI.

Perseverance and patience will help you. ;)

Well, one seasonal involved me in some Japanese car, trying to reel in the AI on the 'Ring.
I closed the gap by seconds every 3 or 4 corners. Eventually I (thought) I was in 1st place, so I calmed down and cruised to the finish. Then I realized...hang on...I'm '2/xx'! :scared:

So, I put my foot down and chased this R34, until I passed him at the end of the straight. :p

Long story short, most of the time the AI are beyond hopeless.

then explain how no car i have ,even the Race Modded cars can win the Historic 500pp?

If it's anything similar to the career event; then it's because the career event is notoriously the most difficult race on GT5.

If you're using recommended cars and setups which are listed in the thread I linked and not winning, then it comes down to driver ability, I'm afraid. Nothing personal, just something which practice over time will address. Some of these events require skills which are only developed over much playing time in the full variety of the game's events and scenarios.

Some Seasonals may seem a bit hard but I'm 65 (played since GT1) & still manage to get Gold :) I've found that if you use a heavier car with more BHP, your chances of winning are better. For example: in the 90's Japanese Seasonal I used a Nissan Stagea with no weight reduction & 200 kilos added & PP just under limit & won easily. You CAN win. 👍

I think is a way to compensate the Artificial Deficiency of Bobs (sometimes -sadly like in S.Vettel challenge- overcompensating is also a issue)

they start 20- 30 seconds ahead, that is not right PERIOD
No, but that's how it's always been. Running the same PP level as an average human driver, the AI is 5% slower - so they get a headstart of about 5% and the challenge is to run the race in 5% less time while passing them.

Otherwise it'd be green light, pass them all by turn 1, 10 minutes of hotlapping. Or they'd have cars with a much higher PP to compensate.

GT5's been like this since November 2010. GT4's mission hall was like this...

In real life, most Touring Car championships do and in GT5, I can think of at least one. Motorsports have always tried to make things even by banning certain cars or upgrades, Polyphony found a way they liked to do it and they're sticking with it. It may get dull, but at least it means not all of the events are easy.

Lets not forget the super-unrealistic course maker tracks we have to drive on to win the seasonal event. Bad tire selection + track that is bending at 45 degree angles and feels like its made of black ice = bad event.

It's like a fast team or driver getting a ballast penalty. The way the game views it is that a human is automatically faster than the AI whether this is actually the case or not. Until Polyphony work out how to make a truly fast AI system with adaptive programming to gauge it's opposition, this problem will remain.

Wait, I just asked a video game developer to make Skynet... :dunce:

the AI cheats by using cars that are ow over the PP limit...
Not that I've seen. It uses cars that would be over the PP limit if stock, but they are tuned to meet it. There may be occasions where a car suits the field and is included despite being slightly over, but I'm not familiar with them.

Incidentally, I note your shift key works perfectly well, so can you start to use it at the start of sentences and for the personal "I", as you agreed when you joined this site?

finally decided to jsut cheat and use one of Piarano's tunes

How is enhancing the handling characteristics of a car cheating?
Even Piarano will say that his tunes are only for a starting reference. Each racer tunes cars to suit their driving style. Part of the beauty of the game is to tune the cars for maximum performance, then reduce the HP and PP to make the races as competitive as each player likes. A well tuned lower PP car raced against higher PP AI makes seasonals interesting and challenging.

I do not know how to make my own tunes and I lack the math skills to learn how.

Then it is fine to use Piarano or Adrena Tunes to set your cars up to race well. Most race teams have chassis, engine, and transmission specialists to set the cars up for the driver. Let these guys be your pit team. GTPlanet is here to help all of us enjoy the game we love more.

Keep Racin' Mate -- I'm 66 years old and still loving it.

I think he wants to use bone stock cars ?? It can be done but much harder to accomplish without some tuning. Gearing is very important for decent lap times & to chase down the rabbits.
