You know this car is a big deal when your next door neighbour, who used to be the President of the Victorian Corvettoe Club, knows about it. Probably shouldn't be surprised but it just goes to show how concepts made for a video game can make a mark on car culture as a whole. To say that GT isn't a part of modern automotive culture is a flat out lie.
These two cars were not made just for a "video game". These are real concept cars that are part of a GM design exercise which involved multiple GM studios globally. That is why your neighbor knows about them. They are going to be in GT7 because of a collaboration between GM and PD.

Maybe I'm just being American, but I would have to assume "money" is the answer. "Money" is usually the answer to any question you may have about any product 99% of the time.
Koenigsegg appears in smartphone games, so "money" doesn’t seem to be the issue.

You say that as if mobile gaming isn't THEE most lucrative gaming platform.
Trust me, PD has the money to pretty much get the license for any particular car. But its more than that.
I'll pass. A statement like that tells me, not only do you not have an understanding of the business side of games, you don't even car to try and understand the business. You think PD doesn't want every manufacturer possible? You really think PD will leave cars out just to troll people? Grow up.

I didnt try to say that they dont add them to troll. Im saying most times isnt the money, if they agreed on a deal, PD surely has the money to get at least 1 koenigsegg car or from any brand. I wanted to say that somethimes is more than that, exclusive agreements with some games, etc. I also didnt tried to say that they had the money to get every ****ing car in the world added, i meant the money to license any individual car, not every car at the same time.

From LSR today, it's looking like another Tomahawk perhaps, If you can't see the leaderboard here, there's a 5:18 at Nordschleife, and I saw 262 mph at a glance on the speedo up the Dottinger Hohe.
Impossible to know how “good” of a lap that was, but that’s only about a second quicker than the 919 Evo ran. Considering this has a significant horsepower and top speed advantage over that car, seems like it will probably have handling mostly in line with the Gr1 stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t add it to Gr1, because of the active aero and high horsepower, but the Genesis VGT has 1500 combined horsepower and they (albeit awkwardly) stuffed it in Gr1 so it’s still hard to say.

I asked AI and

Although, to be fair, it's literally anyone's guess right now. The "real" figure will be pretty much made up anyway, as the CX is in all likelihood a static display model.

Made up yes, so why not make it super overpowered then. 2000bhp, 200kg. That would be something. But if they wanna be serious at all, the curb weight should be something between 1800-2200 kg. And even then It'd be fast as f....

I'd say that rather depends on what tech they'll say is in it. A solid-state battery, axial motors, composite chassis and body could all come in at less than 1600kg, although the blurb does say it's a 90kWh lithium-ion pack, which is going to be in the region of 650kg on its own.

3,528 pounds total as 1,433 pounds for the battery alone...yikes!

Would have loved this with a race spec V8 in Gran Turismo 7. EVs, while useful in real life, are utterly useless in video games. Due to their limited range, I can't do a single long distance race with them despite their speed and performance.

My favorite race in GT7 is at Le Mans (and Nürburgring) and most performance EVs won't do more than a lap per charge. On the other hand, Chevy should definitely use this design for the next Corvette!

The CX.R has a 900hp, two-litre V8. It isn't an EV, though it does have additional motors on the front wheels and in the gearbox for a total 2,000hp output.

The CX is an EV.

I was referring to the CX as that's the vehicle I first read about in Car and Driver (haven't read the one about the CX-R yet).

Also, GM agrees with me that EVs are useless in racing as they threw in a V8 in the race car so that it can complete a race without requiring a 2 hour charge/pitstop every 2 laps.
