in america you guys have alot of dimutive series like we do in europe but they dont realy get recorded. We can only count major comps to be honest as the amount of smaller competitions in which 911s and 3 series win races is too great.

So, how would GM entering in the LMP1 category make them MORE winners? Does that mean that the class winners aren't realy winners? So, since Porsche didn't win the LMP1 category, and therefore the race, their wins count for nothing? Don't you think they'd just race them separately in that case, if the separate classes didn't have individual winners?

well, look at it this way. for each GM win in each category of each race, there is another competitor (porsche most likely) winning its own class and therefore tying chevy for wins.

if corvette wins GT, porsche wins GT2 as they invariably seem to always do. in which case, doesnt porsche have more victories in "head to head" events? that was my point.

Are you talking to me? Im just saying that there are plenty of comps going on everydayy with privately entered cars which win but it doesnt get televised on TV so no one records it as a win for the respective manufacturer.

but ye if we were to stick to major televised comepetitions such as dakar wrc jgt alms lemans super gt super touring cars F1 nascar and cart and any other major comepetiotn ive missed out then its pretty fair to say Chewvy dont even come close.

Ah. THAT is a VERY good point.

Off topic--I hope BMW comes back to GT2 in ALMS, now that they have a V8 in the new M3.

you failed to mention the NHRA, Trans Am series, & Grand Prix series--but a good list
all are televised frequently

by the way, only races the Manufacture itself supports, or is involved in would count..hence me saying you had a good list

i couldnt sleep last night and ended up watching some sorry modifier program (tuner transformation) on speed channel where they made a guys 330Ci look like the M3 GTRs.

except for the paint job.

but yeah BMWs for GT2 👍 👍

So, if GM's not the best auto maker - who is? does anybody sells more autos? aren't there more foreign cars on the American market than vice versa?

There is not 'best' auto maker. It's subjective.
The best automaker could be the most performance-oriented, the highest quality, hightest sales, lowest prices (etc.), or a blend of everything. There is no set definition [that I know of] of what the "Best auto maker" is.

Also, use that "Edit" button. It's useful, instead of making 2 or 3 posts.

Well then, according to their own site, the only ones that currently count are NASCAR, Craftsman Trucks, ALMS, and NHRA. Those are the only series that GM directly compete the Chevy brand in. So, thats not much these days. Now, GM obviously used race the Chevy brand in TransAm back in the day as well. And I'm sure there have been some other few series here and there. But, like I said in my earlier post, and you just said there, if we only count the series that they directly compete the Chevy name in, that isn't much in a worldwide look. In America, and in those series they mention on their site, I'm sure they are close. But, with only a handfull of series a year they race in, they have no chance worldwide.
