Hi to all i just want to ask a question hope some body can help me
i have a BMW 328ia E36 1997 i want To modify the ECU so i can get better performance
any one can help with with the codes ???

Thanks any way

what would be the point you wouldnt get much more power out of it

i know max from 20 till 30 HP i don't want to much Hp i just want to do somthing special with it

try more like 8-12hp. BMW engines are finely tuned machines and BMW will have gotten most the power out of that engine as possible.

You'd be better off going on a specialised site and seeing want people with experience of the car say.

exactly if youve heard about 20-30bhp you must have been looking up turbo cars or something

Just depends on the car, and its set up. If your car is stock, a chip may only add 5-10hp, but if you had the standard i/h/e, or your car was absurdly detuned by the manufacturer, then it could gain as much as 15-30hp, depending on the car/engine.

The size of the engine, and type matter as well. Diesels have the most to gain from what i've learned, with most newer trucks being able to jump over 100lbs of torque from just a couple of changes to the ECU.

Your best bet would be to visit a couple dedicated BMW boards, and search, or ask what the best chip or programmer for your ECU would be. With a stock set up, I doubt you would be able to add 20-30hp at the crank, but it would definitly help to make your driving experience better for you.

repeating above...

The best place would be a BMW dedicated messageboard... I would suggest starting at www.bimmerforums.org first, and then branch out.

I have an E30, which is an M20 engine, and I only know about chips for M20's and M10's.

Your M50/M52 is unfamiliar to me. :)

And my chip (MarkD, if you speak the E30 language) did give me a dyno proven 18 horsepower, and 20 lb/ft more than when it did not have the chip... but then again... I have a 325e, and they are intentionally restricted from the factory for efficiency over power.... not anymore. :)

325i's (M20 engine still) gain on average about 7-11 horsepower, depending on what you've already done to the car. A good combination would be: No catalytic converter, aftermarket exhaust (Ansa :)), and Cold-Air intake, chip, shorter differential.

Best site to find chip power upgrades IMO is www.powerchip.com.au

While this is only one manufacturer, the power output will not be greatly different across the whole range.
