I am thinking about upgrading from G923 + h-shifter to the RS50 + rs h-shifter. Has any one had experience with this upgrade? Is it worth the price tag? Or is it better to go all out for the G PRO?

I went from the g27,g29 and g923 to the rs50 with pro pedals and it's a world of difference. GT7 and ACC feel like new games

Haven't had a go on ACC just yet. Hoping to get on it this weekend over Easter.

Biggest adjustment for me so far is the button layout.

Just got rs 50 pedals. The brake is very hard when connected to PC - I set at 100%. But when I connect to g923 via the g racing adapter it’s very soft - same as my g923 pedals! Also the knob on the g racing adaptor doesn’t do anything. Any ideas? /edit - turns out I just had to update the adaptor.

Anyway - what kg setting are you running for the brake? Also any mapping of input curves for throttle/brakes?

Good to hear; looks like you did the firmware update.

I did the same earlier this year - got the RS50 pedals along w/ the clutch and used the adaptor to connect to my G923.

  • Brake Force. After setting the brakes to 100% in the computer, I found the adaptor dial determines what percentage of force (percentage of 75kg) determines 100% brake force. It and still is an adjustment, but it's going well so far. I've stayed with the default soft elastomer setup as that is a personal preference on.y.
  • In-Game Adjustments: Go into the game and make sure to set the calibration under "controllers." For me, having a bit of a dead spot (3% or so) for gas and brake were good to have if you rest your foot there. Clutch I have as engaging at about 35% if I recall correctly.

I don't change the curve on the brakes for the following reason - it's best for me to adjust my driving style and skills rather than change the brake curve. I can be more consistent that way.

A bit to add to this: I just got the RS50 Wheel to go with my setup. I still rock the G-Shifter and use my adaptor for that. The sensitivity difference with the pedals is noticable.

For me, it was worth it. I also saw there was a massive sale on it that began on Monday on Amazon in my area.

Hopefully this helps,

Yes I set the brake force to 100% via PC (standard linear curve) and then I have set it to about 4/10 on the wheel which is about 30kg. I also bought the MOZA CRP (?) Brake kit and have changed the elastomers to springs. This made the brake pedal stiffer and more importantly it doesn't get mushy after a long session which is what I found with the elastomers. FYI the MOZA kit has much stiffer springs but then my office chair flexes back (I have the Next Level Racing Stand 2.0). So until I get a full cockpit I am happy with this amount of force and sensitivity.

If I recall I have a non-linear curve for the accelerator. But like you said: rather than endlessly tweak it, I have set it once and now am training my muscle memory. I still have the issue that the last couple of mm/degrees of the accelerator are not picked up by GT7. You can try it: put it the floor in neutral and then every so slightly lift and quickly press it back down - there will be no change in game.

How is the RS 50 wheel as an upgrade? Are you able to feel the weight transfer easier to be able to catch the tail end of the car from stepping out? I guess there's smoother/stronger force and reduced noise but I'm wondering if you actually get more nuanced feedback with the RS 50 or is just an amplification of the G923.

I had the hardest time getting used to the RS50 after my G29, almost sent it back. I turned down all the settings and worked my way up. If you start the 8lbs and have to push like hell on the pedal it's going to fell very, very different. Makes you respect the fast guys even more for their ability to adapt to anything, and do so almost instantly.

Overall, it's definitely worth the investment. As many have said before, RS50 is a tool, G29/923 is a toy

Hi there! Sorry I didn't see what you wrote earlier. Since you didn't reply directly to my post, I never got a notification.

Without further adoo . . . here's my response!

Good settings to begin with. I'm up to 65% at the moment and test my brake strength using the calibration in GT7 (I get into that later in my reply)

I've used the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand (1.0) and loved it. Used it on the couch! I did get the GT Racer (1.0) and love it. Feel free to drop hints if you can for a birthday present.

Good call! :)

If I understand what you're doing, consider going into the in-game settings and select calibration. I've done that and have put a 1.5% dead spot at the start of my brake (my foot rests there during a race) as well as adjusted the clutch and a slight tweak on the accelerator. It helped me; it may help you. That said, I could be wrong.

FULL ON ACES. I really love the thing and I'm still getting up to speed with it. That said, I think I'm actually quicker around the track now. I've had the brakes for a while (about 2 months) but the wheel I worked on for a week.

I'm able to catch slides sooooo much easier than before. I drive exclusively in VR and have haptics attached to my rig (Buttkicker & a couple of pucks) but I can tell the sound is far less than it was before. There's more detail in the feel and more detailed communication than before.

Don't get me wrong; the G923 is a great wheel for where it is! It communicates information as well . . . but it's more limited than with the RS50. Because the G923 has about 2.3NM of torque to play with, it has to fit all the information it can in that space. The RS50 not set at peak torque has three times the room for that information. It's why slides are easier to catch in my view.

As an example, I drive for BMW. This past week was Fuji in the Group 4 M4 machine. I already knew I was close to the slowest car in the field, but a week of practice definitely helped quite a bit.

Here's my live stream of the event:

As always, I hope this helps!
