I wouldn't mind one.

iRiver would be great, the best in my opinion, but much too expensive. I wouldn't mind a ZenXtra. Nomad would be alright, too. iPod's are nothing special.

HP are apparantly bringing out an MP3 Player, rumoured to be quite good. My Dad is being "groomed" to take on the Head role of HP in Australia, so I get to hear these things. I hope it's good, because I'll probably get one for free.

Sony too has just entered the HDD MP3 market, it'll be interesting to see how serious they are about it with what they come up with, the potential is immense...

Yeah, potential is very big from Sony. I'd really like to see what they put out. I would generally say that most Sony products are good quality.

Wired magazine gave the sony a piss poor review. Their main complaint was in price vs features and in the software included with it... but then again they gave the iPod top honours and said the sound quality on the Zen Touch sucked so I'm not sure just how well they reviewed the units.

Archos has a cheap HD MP3 players out at the moment. It retails for $230, but I think you can get them for less than 200 bucks, which is insane for a new 20 GB MP3 player. It's got picture viewing capability, as well as a voice recorder. It looks good to me.

Hope this isn't too late... don't know how I missed this one? :dopey:

Just browsing around, I came upon a player called the Neuros. It seems like a good possibility, but I can't really find any info about it on the net besides the company site. Has anyone heard of it before?

Wow, someone has actually heard of that player here... how bout that. As much as I liked it at first I only stuck with it for a year. Enough time to find out Flash players suit me better than HD players.

Anyway, I found a better player for cheaper... Than my Muro 512mb, took em damn long enough to beat mine... It's the

Lexar LDP-600 Mp3 Player

It comes in 256 and 512mb form has USB 2.0 and comes with a built-in SD expansion slot for up to 1gb more storage!

Gets my vote if I didn't have my Muro although mine still looks better. :D

edit: Oh BTW, it comes with

Basic Contents
• Lexar Digital Music Player LDP-600
• User Guide
• Sennheiser MX-400 earbud headphones
• Carrying Case
• Lanyard / Necklace
• USB extension cable

Check prices at the site ;)

I'm waiting for this to come through my door.

Visual Land 530 Aluminium

It's a 512mb MP3 player and USB Flah Mass Storage device. My my friend bought one a while ago in the red (VL530) but the VL530A comes in a silver Aluminium casing.

I picked one up off of Ebay for £40 inc. P&P so they're not pricey for what they are either.

EDIT: It's coming in the factory sealed box with all the earphones, software etc. if you were wondering.

Icemanshooter got an MP3 player for Christmas.

Earbuds like these (Same exact shape) came with my iRiver H320 and my mom's iRiver IFP-890 and I hate them. They're waaay too big for my ears. I'll be picking up some fontopias with different size earbuds tonight.

oh ok... I figured just because they were overpriced Sennheiser they were good. That's the company I always here about anyway. :dopey:

Hate sony and hate ear buds... well ear buds unless it's practical to have them in certain situations. Like expensive clothes I can't fathom paying over $30 at most just so it can be "crystal clear". I did however buy some $40 sony headphones in High school? (with gift card) because they were cool.. actually sounded decent too. Still got em even though they are falling apart. 👍

I only want earbuds because they're discrete. I see all the the iTools in study hall with their iPoos and I want to bring in my iRiver and I can't with cans.

eh? Who the hell cares what those bandwagon yuppies think... I laugh at them for getting screwed .

But I just want to listen to music during study hall. It's so damn boring. And I can't do that with cans.

:odd: It's that damn loud?! Maybe that's a good thing you can't play it then?

No, I mean I'd look like a damn fool carrying and wearing the cans. It's not that loud. Plus, we're not supposed to bring in MP3 players. She doesn't care if we just have earbuds or the kind like yours. They can't be blatantly obvious.

Uh huh... ho k... ? I never did like "cans" either but I like bass and so those blue sony's filled the bill pretty well. Ear buds suck ass at bass unless you shove them through your ear.

These open air cans I'm returning barely had any bass at all. The earbuds will give more. Doesn't matter, though, I'm not a bass fiend.

 cans that don't even hit... ha ha
That's one reason I'm returning them. Another is the flimsy construction. What can you expect from open-air headphones, though. They weren't noise cancelling or even air-tight.

What kind of retarded headphones did you buy??

Sennheiser HD457's

lets see... so they are over priced cans that don't blow! ha ha... or do they?

They were only $36. I didn't expect much.

It's one thing to insult earbuds since they suck. But don't ever diss the earplug style headphones. They seal out the outside noise and the sound is pretty damn good. The Fontopias that EH pointed out are almost as good in quality as most phones that cost around $150. They're most definately worth it. My only complaint is that they can be a bit too bassy at times... but some minor equalizer tweaking fixes that up really nicely

Really? I just got mine and they seem too tinny. Maybe it's my rips....

they seem tinny because you didn't get them to fit into your ear canal properly. It'll take a few days till you can get that fit just right. Also, try experimenting with the plug sizes. I use the small one right now because the medium sometimes hurts my ears even though it seals better.

I'm using the small right now and they barely fit. I have small ear canals. :(

EDIT: Wow, I just tried the mediums and they fit perfectly! Much less tinny! :D Now the only gripe I have is the uneven cord thing.
