Name a car in which you would buy PURELY for the exhaust note alone.

For me, the RX8. If it didn't have such lousy gas mileage there would be a big chance I'd take it over the Evo just because of its sound. (There are also other reasons why I would but that's off topic)

WRX, and i did :) But not JUST for the exhaust note, for many other reasons as well. But i when I FIRST heard the boxer tone when i was a lad, I said. "Id buy one of those cars for the exhaust note" Other honerable mentions, a 350Z/ G35 Coupe or almost any BMW

Porsche 911 Turbo. That thing sounds glorious. Gotta love the flat 6. Vanquish would be up at the top, too.

Anything with a Hemi :D (and I mean a real, hot cammed, 426 Hemi)

I've hear some trule awesome roller-cammed Mopar 383s too.

Either a VW R32 or the TT 3.2 V6. Both have the same engine, and very similar exhaust notes. Not sure what it is, but it just sounds aces to me. Not usually a V6 guy, but hey. A friend of mine has an R32. Not the fastest thing out there, but hot damn if it doesn't sound sweet. And, if it sounds as good as it did in a few vids I've seen, the new V10 M5 will be a winner as well. A V10 ripping up to 8500 is choice too.

Lamborghini Diablo GT with Kreissieg F1 Exhausts, 6.0l V12.

In an alternate reality, where I'm not an awfully rich person, who'll never even be close to being able to afford a Lambo, most likely an Audi S4, the new one with the V8.
That thing screams.

You mean something like Tim "The Toolman" Taylors 1100Bhp Ford F-100 ? :trouble:

Hmm what would I buy based on sound? I really like the Joe Gibbs Silverado, it sounds sweet with the supercharger and the exhaust. Either that or a F-150 Lighting.

Here are my 5 picks:

1. Subaru WRX STi- Love that Boxer 4

2. Porsche 911 [996] Turbo- That Boxer 6 is scary.

3. Chevrolet Corvette ZO6- I like the V8 rumble in that thing.

4. Honda NSX-R- Pure VTEC at its finest.

5. 1992 Acura Integra GS-R- The car I already own, which has already a great engine sound, pure VTEC joy.

awwww....shucks I almost forgot my other favorite. The Ferarri 360 Modena Challenge Stradale. That car is so sexy..... :trouble:

Firts time that baby snarl in its staccato symphony of sound I bowed down and praised God I was alive to hear it. :D

^ Ferrari's are too high pitched for my taste, and most American V8'S are too low.

I also love the way the Mercedes V8 sounded. Although its kind of muffled, there's a muscular ruble underneath. Or the whine of the Kompressor engines.

 I loved the Diablo too, I was :drool:ing

You've not heard anything until you've heard a TVR Griffith 500

Gotta love that reject GM V8, I mean Rover V8. No, in all seriousness I agree with you. Oh and that diablo was beautiful. I also have a soft spot for the 4A-GE in the AW11 MR-2, if you want me to throw engine/chassis codes around like a stupid fanboy.

RX-8 no contest, redlining at 9000RPM damn....
Also the mazda 787b that 4 rotor.

From all the cars I've heard for real (videos excluded), I'd have to say the TVR Griffith.

Don't know if all Rover V8's sound like that, though. I don't recall having heard another, and it's known that TVR tweaks them to sound that way.

Any Nissan Skyline, excluding the new G35/R35 ones.
Nothing sounds better than an RB engine. Ferrari's F50 is my second favourite.
