Are Sony & PD missing out on lots of Christmas PS3 sales by not releaseing a really big GT5 Prologue update soon?

They must be a bit :dunce: if they don't have anything to announce very soon.

I for one don't think so.

Because I should think everyone who wants GT5P has already got it .
Plus theres a wider gaming market for Sony to aim for than GT5 fans alone.

No update is frustrating but hey what can you do?. Apart from enjoy what you've/we've got. 👍

Most people without the game probably care little for the updates. Infact, they may not even know they are available.

What'll sell is a nice shiny new game on a store shelf.

Christmas update???

This would be a nice gift for my birthday.

perhaps an update like last year´s stupid ahrweiler market square with xmas-lighting??

That annoyed me from mid-January until now, and will continue to be irritating until December 10 or so, when I'm more in the mood for the holidays. I hope they take it away January 1.

I don't think it will increase sales (unless it's something big), but I'd like another track to race on for Xmas, is that too much to ask?

even if they release a xmas update on the 24dec , i dont think people will buy it for xmas ,

Becourse no offense , but not all gt5p lovers are registed here or , i for one don't look at PD's site for news on updates everyday.

But sure, I wouldn't mind a update , but I wouldnt expect to much, as I'm quite happy with how the game is.

I think there are alot of people out there that haven't bothered to buy gt5p because they have been convinced by the press and other people that it is a glorified demo.

In my eyes sony could sell a few copies to these people if they included the ring and maybe 1 or 2 publicly hyped cars. For example the Bugatti Veyron. That aswell as a price cut. I think all of these would appeal to the types of people that haven't bought the game. It would give them some sort of justification. I think the addition of the veyron and the ring would interest alot of automotive journalists. I wouldn't be suprised if they even mentioned it on Top Gear. And we all know that what Clarkson says is like the word of god which would further convince the herd to cough up their cash. I for one would be horrified at the thought of paying £25 for a "Demo". I guess it is a good thing I don't see it that way.

But in my honest opinion I don't believe it is in the interest of sony to sell more copies of GT5P. It just wouldn't give them as much profit from a sale compared to a full priced game.

Then you have people like me that haven't bought any playstation games since GT5P and would love a little christmas gift to keep them going until GT5.

Prologue is estimated to have sold 2.2 million copies world-wide. Not bad! I think that is enough users to deem Prologue a success sales-wise and provide the feedback they need.

Giving away the Ring in Prologue would be a mistake. It should be saved for the full version... I believe is one of the major selling points. As much as I'd love to have a load of free updates / content for Prologue, I say save the big guns for the full version.

I agree, NUR should be for FULL game only. As well other tracks and cars.

I think PROLOGUE is good as it is. Only complain for me is the Private room racing. Kaz said that will be in for FULL game, but I think they really need PRIVATE ROOM BETA to be in Prologue so we can test how stable it is, and if it really works.

I completely agree that the Ring should be saved.

Gran Turismo is the highest selling Playstation game and the brand has reached a point will sell itself to a certain extent. Bearing in mind that is such a big success makes me believe even more that Sony and PD would not want to market GT5P even more than they are already doing. It would make much more sense to put those resources to use on a game like Resistence 2. Which unlike GT5P is a from a fairly new series and retails at a higher price.

I was only saying that I believe features like the Ring and the Bugatti and a lower RRP would be major selling points of GT5P if they were introduced and would boost sales. Not that I think they should be introduced. It is also very clear that PD will not be releasing the ring in GT5P for that very reason.

Sorry for not being clearer in my previous post.

I have been playing GT4 over the last 2 days. I am really getting fidgety for GT5 now. I am happy for them to take their time and release a perfect game though.

PS.
I also think the Top Gear test track will be a major selling point.

I would settle for one new track and a couple new cars. Maybe they should tease us and give us the Nurburgring Grand Prix track, which is still, very, very good.

I`ll second that motion and yes the GP track is pretty darn good!

I don't believe so, I think GT Is such a specific game, its wanters can wait. And its not a game people will just pick up to try. Most of the time the players have a strong interest in the series, or Car's themselvs...

I think every HARDCORE fan of GT already has a copy of GT5P. I do not think a hardcore gamers would wait for the December update. And Casual gamers would not wait as well because since they are casual gamers they do not check on NEWS as much as I do lol.
