He (or another individual) kept re-gifting the same chip over and over again to multiple other PSN accounts he/she has, and then gifted THOSE back to his main/master account, after deleting the save game data from the other accounts. It's what the GT community refers to as 'duping'.

Oh okay... but doesn't the game save right after you gift something? I was going to try the duping trick after saving enough credits to get the FGT, but as soon as I bought it, the game saved, so no way to go back to before spending those credits...

Also, do you lose the paint chip for the car you've gifted, since you get one when you're gifted a car?

Sorry for noobish questions, but haven't found an answer to this...
