Macau, Gauia (sp) track would make for some phenomenol bumper to bumper racing. Go on PD, you know you want to!

JohnBM01 I'm sure they'll be able to do it with Playstation 3 and Gran Turismo 5 so no worries.

You got my vote for a macau guia circuit... all the greats raced there (schumi, mika and of course, senna)... it should be a no-brainer... I wonder if the folks at PD actually read stuff from this forum...

Have to agree with you. Loved to see Senna blazing through that track.

I'm new here. i have been reading up though. The city+track I'd love to see is Cayalami in South Africa. :D

It would be cool if they did the Targa Tasmania roads...

or

Lang Park Super stage in Rally Australia

Being young to these forums, thank you for my first hot-topic (over 1,000 views). Much respect to everyone here.

With cities being in Gran Turismo whether real or fictional courses (although I'd like to think the Seattle course might have been a race track in the muscle car days), I'm sure everyone who lives in a considerably large city would come up with their own race track ideas. Part of what makes any racing game special is creativity and careful construction of courses, especially in fictional courses. For example, Tokyo is fast with somewhat slow corners (not to say it is high-speed), Special Stage R11 has slow corners and is generally the Complex String of street courses, and Seattle is a bit too bumpy.

I live in Houston, Texas. The home of this year's Super Bowl (yeah, I need to get away from football in a racing Chat, but I'm just sharing interests). And when I seen CART hold its first race on the streets of downtown Houston (did you see how WET that race was?), it was rather tricky, a big "H" layout. The reason why I am not loading up any images or such is because I'd have to get permission to use other's maps to make track ideas. I can trace makeshift track ideas, but I'd need a scanner.

So if you live in such a big city even if NOT in America, then imagine a race track. But before thinking about how it would look, imagine how the GT racers would race it, and then imagine if YOU had the chance to race it.

By the way, my vote for "GT2 RACE TRACK WITH NO EXPOSURE" Rome's Night circuit. Yeah, who remembers THIS track? Only time you could race it was in the Super License test with the Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car. If there is a track that is in the game, at least have a professional race with it. Anyhow, next reply, please?

I like ht idea of long distance races. How about the Silver State Classic? It's a long race on a closed highway in Nevada in which cars reach obscene speeds.

As for California roads, It'd be awesome to race on Muholland drive, the mother of all US mountain backroads.

What happened to Pikes Peak Hill Climb races?

I thought they were quite cool....

You know, I thought of a certain special consideration for this topic. Have any of you thought about rally races on tarmac, dirt, or whatever? While the boys and girls (yes, girls can race too) are tearing things up in the Dakar Rally, I imagined if it would be interesting to see such cars rally race (or road race (maybe)) in these cities and towns. Now I know GT4 has some Italian course that I keep forgetting the name for, but I was thinking about more different courses.

Now, this is a HUGE deterrent from what I normally brought up for this topic. Normally, this was all about big and small cities that make great tracks for the racers that range from grassroots to Le Mans masters. But this diversion is interesting. I was thinking about if you could be able to race a small desert town, snowy village, or wherever. If you have any ideas to justify what I'm talking about here, then reply away right away. ;-)

Hill climb races were cool!

And i would like to see a Rio de Janeiro street course and Rio de Janeiro racetrack (a.k.a Nelson Piquet International racetrack)

I just hope it doesn't become PGR2. Can they have a gumball style race. Maybe GT5/6. I doubt on GT4

GT4 on one hand, then PGR2.

In one case, the use of fantasy tracks from real cities makes it like PGR2. Only thing is, you're not racing tracks for silly kudos points and stuff. I mean, the GT series was about real racing, not style points and stuff like that. Normally, I'm not the "style points" kind of gamer. While I have a feeling that GT4's New York will likely be an endurace as long as Tokyo R246 (approx. 2 hours, 45 minutes), I think the street courses will give gamers a chance to get away from pure road courses and have some fun on city streets. And after three GTs, most of us have done just that.

Speaking of New York, I'd have to imagine what it must be like when GT4 comes out, New York is selected, and you're on that LONG road until the hairpin turn. Sure, the track has a few slow sectons on that "straight," but it could be a drag racing course for GT racers. New York will be more of a speed track, making Tokyo R246 more technical with great speed.

👍 I Agree with both

you know, i can picture Dakar in a later GT game. The track would be done in sections (obviously) in a series race. In terms of file size, since a lot of parts are really just desert, bushes, and dunes, it could be done. But I don't think they would put 4 ton trucks in ANY gt game.

safari rally racing in africa and rally racing on icy tracks.

and Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. I'm from Montreal if ne1 cares...

I'll welcome you to the best GranTurismo forum on the net if you welcome me to my beautiful new city. :)

I am constantly amazed at the aesthetics of our wonderful city. Certainly, a Houston track would have to include the huge Belt to 59 interchanges, and a tour through Downtown via 45 South. It's hard to believe I'm not living out a videogame fantasy when I pass the Aquarium by at two in the morning, windows down, engine singing, and friends smiling. :)

Would be cool to meet up for some GT someday... I'll let you know when the sixth semi-annual Houston Texas GranTurismo Party rolls around during Spring Break. :)

HondaKid, thanks for representing H-town. ;-)

No prob.

You're a student here in America's Intercontinental City... do you go to UH? I'm a freshman Communication and English major. I autocross every month at Gulf Greyhound... it helps tide me over until GT4 finally gets here.

There is a Dakar rally game and I unfortunately got the play it, and it wasn't pretty. PD's version would be pretty cool if they did make it.

I'm trying to get into UH. Go Coogs (Cougars)!

I may be a nut for not mentioning this, but, what about Queensland (Surfer's Paradise)? I mean, these street course isn't really tough, it is basically tricky. I mean, you have a straight line of road, then a small chicane. A bit more road... and then a chicane. Then with all the different turns, it is more of an exercise in straight-line speed, and fancy footwork.

The Gilles Villeneuve F-1 circuit, aka Montreal.

Or the CART Toronto Indy. I think it would be pretty swell burning it up in a 787b around the good 'ole Exhibition. :)

Ladies and gentlemen, if you want an INCREDIBLE encyclopedia of race tracks around the world, look no further than:

http://www.etracksonline.co.uk/

This isn't my website, it is the website of an incredible person. You won't get full pictoral coverage of each track, but you will learn of all the tracks of the world and who races them. I'm sure here, you'll find tracks you might imagine would make great GT street and road course ideas.

Nice find, it's ok to post links to an informational site but not to promote a site.

Sorry about that. I like expressing credit. Ther was another site that wasn't like the one I mentioned, but is also good. Has info on even old circuits, including ice racing tracks.

I normally don't talk about Canada, but if there is a good enough configuration on the streets of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, then I think Toronto would be a good choice. Maybe if they wanted to jazz things up, you can have the center of the Torono Raptors, Vince Carter, waving the green flag. If you'll excuse me, I have some more topics to take a look at.

If one's to consider Toronto (Ontario, Canada), then here's another one that would actually be a little better. Trois-Rivières (Québec, Canada). There's a Grand Prix held there (not Formula 1) every year along with other races (at the same week-end). Scenery is really nice and diverse out there, though we'd not see the CN tower ........ humm ....... oh well!! :)

If the game wants some Japanese influence, it would be interesting if GT added more Japanese cities. You know, a mini championship with Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Kyoto, Niigata... you know?

I think to impress the muscle car and pony car and hot rod fans alike, why not add Detroit? I don't know about Belle Isle, but I mean like, on the streets of Detroit, where you can show your American metal (even if it is a Neon SRT-4) and cruise the streets of Motown. Or if you dare, bring some JGTC muscle to look for a classic rivalry. You know, GT500 Skyline versus a Shelby GT500.

And I am still thinking about what a race track in Houston would be like. We got the Super Bowl coming up here, and we introduced our Light Rail system here going from the Astrodome area to about maybe the Texas Medical Center and downtown. Not sure what routes the Light rail goes to, but it works. Continue your city talk, folks!

The Light Rail system goes from South Fannin all the way to UH Downtown. It looks deceptively short on a map... it takes 45 minutes to ride the rail from one end to the other. A few friends of mine and I took it all the way up and all the way down its entire route. It was really exciting! Driving alongside it is scary at first, but actually pretty inspiring once it becomes a familiar occurence.

The horn is amusingly soft though. :p
