I need help with this championship race in professional hall. I have used a lot of different cars, including the superbird and the buick special, and I can't seem to get past second place in any of the races after the first 2. What is the best car for these races?

I think there have been previous threads on this subject, but it really depends whether you get the Cobra or Buick Special as your opposition. I recall that I went into this series with a tuned-up Cougar XR-7 and neither of them were there, so had a rather easy time.

If the A/C Cobra won't go away, get your own Cobra and destroy them.

I'd imagine it wouldn't be too hard to beat the Buick Special, although the three times I tried that championship the A/C Cobra was always there.

Do the Lotus championships and win the Lotus Elan '62. That's one sweet ride, fast to boot if you soup it up due to its tiny weight (~600kg)

Alternatively win the Laguna Seca Enduro for that 60s Ford Race-Car, but that's if you wanna do it the boring way.

That champs almost imposible if the Cobra turns up.
I used the Chevy I won on one of the American races, tryed it stock, got my ass kicked by the cobra. Went and did some mild tuning (Exhaust flywheel, breaks & suspension), still got beat, did well in the corners, but on anything resembaleing a straight, the Cobra just puled away. I then went mad with full lightening, lots of the NA tuning options, I even added the supercharger. I then entered and the Cobra didn't turn up. Did the rest of the Champs without the supercharger and still won.

buick special, and if you find it harder give it some medium race tyres and youll just breeze, (can you enter with race tyres, i cant remember).

i used stock buick special and it was alot of fun. especially the ring...

I just won the Laguna Seca Race in this championship AGAINST the Cobra with my tiny Ginneta G4!!! After all the weight reduction the Ginetta weighs 413 kgs!!!!
And with a horsepower of 226 I believe that anything is possible....
BUT I believe you have to qualify first in these races.
I started 1st in Laguna Seca and finished 1st but with the Cobra only a sec or so behind me.
Came 2nd in every other race though WITHOUT qualifying.
Maybe the key is indeed qualifying?
Gonna test it right away!

That race beautifully illustrates some of GT4's many weak points... Very ill-matched opponents, those races are hilarious, you have all the old cars in there with their 120-180hp motors, then you get the Cobra, rediculous. Reintroduction of the HP limitaiton is what GT5 needs...

GT4 is wearing thin with the arrival of GTR I am affraid, it just feels like a toy now, despite the gourmet DFP wheel. :(

Agreed...

btw I've probably missed something.. but what is GTR? People keep referring to it but I havent actually seen anything about it. Cheers!

I actually used the 70 Skyline HT 2000GT-R and just murdered everyone. Of course i didn't have the Cobra or Buick to worry about oddly. I only went in there once. I had to race against the Cougar XR-7. I actually took off the turbos and ran it with just the other mods.

I won this series with the Ginetta G4 against the Cobra and the Buick Special.
The key is to qualify and get P1. After that, the races were still challenging but I won all of them except Nurburgring if I recall correctly.

I crave a horsepower limit, or atleast a ballpark figure instead of the ambigious a-spec points. I also hate how I tried that champion ship for ages and then after over-modding my Comaro SS the shelby isnt there and the races were boring as.

I to used the Cobra. Cost me 700,000 cr's but it was worth it. I raced a couple of the races but I just couldn't keep up with the stupid Cobra and that Buick. My Cobra (fully tuned) killed it with ease. Also you need the Cobra for the one make race, or the Series 1.

chinny
I put a supercharger on the Buick Special and wiped the floor with them. No other mods needed.

why o why, you didnt need that, it was perfect on standard for me. its flipping powerful enough, you dont need anymore.

If I remember right, the Cobra didnt show up! (I had entered several time) So I could win, but I dont remember with which car.

I only was against the Buick I believe, not the Cobra. Had some nice races with my Jaguar E-Type Coupe. But won quite easily though.

The first time I tried this cup was with my Fiat 500, thought that would be fun, but with a Cobra against me... Nah, that's not a good idea, to use a Fiat 500 there with a Cobra against you.:p

You could also try the Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray '69. I bought that car for the 1000 miles, won the 1000 miles with it on B-spec.:)

I had to race both the Buick Special and the A/C Cobra, and after wasting about 200k on my Chevy Chevil (sp?) SS and still losing, I bougt a Buick Special and about $20,000 worth of mods and easily killed both of those cars.

Quattro20v
I used my supercharged&fully modded Buick Special. Unfair? Maybe. SFW? :trouble:

what the point, youre trying to create a challenge for your self, not breeze through it. no offence but you sound like youre trying to breeze through the game not enjoy it.

He payed for it, he can play it the way he likes. Maybe he enjoys breezing through the game?

On-topic: I used a lightly modded Mercury Cougar against the Buick Special (no Cobra when I raced it -phew!) and beat him everywhere except the 'Ring. I had to go back and clean that up later...

No offence, but the person who started this topic asked for car suggestions to beat the Classic Car Competition. He didn't ask what is the right car to get tight battle. Oh, and I DO like challenge, but every now and then I like to use my modded monsters to wipe the floor with my rivals. I just finished the Ice Arena Hard yesterday. Now there's challenge but I surely didn't enjoy it.
