I used to climb trees when i was younger and then i never really done it much over the past few years because i had no decent trees around me. Now i was on holidays and i couldnt resist this big one.

Anybody else like climbing trees?

I do :) I also used to do it when I was younger. Had pretty good arms to pull myself up those branches.

I had a friend who could climb trees that didn't have any branches until the first 14 feet!

Ciao!

Climbing tree is

...?
Or maybe something belongs to the tree? Like Climbing Tree’s Branches. Of course, since it’s singular and lacking an article, we’d then be talking about a tree that’s been named Tree, so it must be a very important tree. Like, “Hey, Tree, how are you doing? Been climbed on lately? Hahaha!” If you have those kinds of conversations though, then you’ve got a whole slew of other problems, mostly involving psychoanalysis fees.

Straying back on-topic: I’ve never had an urge to climb a tree, although I have a friend-acquaintance who is crazy about climbing trees – he can literally hop up one. Nutty stuff.

Christ you might want to know my name is pronounced Tree

My name isn’t Christ, though. I believe you’ll find him somewhere else (“up a tree” is a lousy guess).

And why are you named after a plant? Who’s crazy enough to name their son after a plant?!

You know I've always asked that but he just changes the subject.

Anyway during my child hood I tried to climb numerous trees but sadly either:

a) I was too fat, causing the tree to break
b) The tree was already broken
c) There was something more interesting to do, like sit on the seat next to the tree.

Asian name, pronounced that way, happens to be a plant name in English.

You can imagine my childhood

Whe I was a kid I used to climb them all the time, though I did fall out of one once about 20ft high, cut my back up quite a bit on the way down.

I climbed everything when I was a kid, including trees. Japanese trees were kind of wimpy though. When I moved to Oregon, that's when I really started to climb trees. Yup, those were trees.

I used to climb trees all the time when I was younger. I just HAD to get all the way to the top then carve my initials in the bark. I hated climbing pine trees. All the sap and needles. My grandmas tree has sooo many names in it from all the parents when they were younger, then their kids, all the cousings. Everyone climbs her tree and signs it. Nothing else to do at a grandmas house.

I love it, always have always will..hard as it may be to believe, back near my other home in Peacehaven there was a 50-60 foot pine tree, yes i did make it to the top..:D Also there was small wooden platforms about 20 foot up.

Next time i am down there il nab some photos, and just maybe haul my ass up to the top and take some more photos from the top.

Shush, irony is supposed to be unspoken! Don’t you people learn anything in school?

On a slightly-on-topic note, did any of you have a climbing, uh, pole thingy in elementary school, where you had to climb up to the top and ring a bell? That was neat, but I wonder if they’re still being built in today’s sue-happy world.

I used to climb in the trees in our backyard until i was like 12-13.
The bigger i became, the less i climbed, because i didn't know if the branchess could hold my weight.

Now i think they still can support my weight, but i'm not interested in climbing into those trees anymore.
There's no challenge, they don't look that big anymore.

Way to detect it after Sage and Duck already pointed it out!

I used to love climbing anything when I was a kid, I've gotten to the top of most of the trees in my yard, along with the pole for the basketball hoop, I've grown out of it; but I wish I hadn't, it was so much fun. This past summer when I was playing disc golf, my friend got his disc stuck in a tree, and after failed attempts of throwing things at it to knock it down, and shaking the tree, I climbed up it to go get his disc for him.

I still do go rock climbing now and then, but it's nothing too serious.

I was always too fat to pull myself up to certain branches, and, by the time I was that high, I was afraid I'd break the branches. Hahahaha.

But, damn, Smallz, you're insane. That's a HUGE tree.

Yup, it's a pretty big one. It's hard to see how you managed through all those gangly things around the base.

I used to climb the trees in my front yard but a few giant grasshopper sightings really put me off. The cicadas didn't help either. As a result I haven't climbed a tree in 5 years probably.

The childhood pastime perhaps?

I remember climbing trees. But when you're my age, no one appreciates it. :grumpy:

I used to climb trees alot every day, Untill the government came along. Now there are no trees. None! none at all, they cut them down like they were in some dire need for paper. And fast.

Yeah i was smiling but apparently the picture was took when i wasnt... It was hard to communicate with the person who was taking the pic, since i had to yell and he had to yell .

The best part about climbing these trees and others, is that its hard to see from the ground, and im far above general viewing angles, so I always make weird noises when people walk past then watch as they spend 15 - 20seconds of their life trying to find out where the sound is coming from. Very funny stuff when they are looking every which way but where i am .

Im not to worried about branches breaking since im only light and small and i had a decent amount of upper body strength, i can climb up poles and vines and stuff so it makes climbing trees easy.

Sounds like I'm more highly evolved than you. I've realized that climbing is unecessary. I shoot whatever is chasing me, rather than cimbing a tree and waiting.
