Hi,

Maybe the thread is here, but I could not find anything about it.
I saw someone show a picture of a power and torque graph in GT4 of a car, which hadnt got its power stated. (which said power: "---")

Can anyone say what the standard power, torque and weight in Gran Turismo 4 of:
Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR
Toyota GT-One

Are they the fastest cars? or what car is fastest, NOT counting the F1 car?

hope someone can help me

Sorry, without PD telling us himself, we won't know. When PD got the liscences to use cars, several of the racing companies didn't want the BHP listed for competition reasons (for balance of the game sometimes the cars REAL bhp differs from the GAMES BHP, not by much though). So we won't know.

However, I do believe that the real car's bhp can be found on the net and that will give a close estimate of what the cars have in the game.

i'm pretty sure that these specs aren't right, the can't just reduce the actual weight with around 500kg.......................remember, the CLK GTR is a treetcar "DTM version"

The CLK-gtr is a le mans raod car version
i am sure of that

never mind...........i was confusing it with the latest dtm edition that MB released a few months ago................my mistake.

I am sure you refer to the new AMG CLK DTM, with 582 PS.

The CLK-GTR is as mentioned a Le Mans car.

You'll be wanting to consult the GT4 Car Database then. Accurate in-game figures for, currently, 648 cars (with a further few coming in tonight's update), including the CLK-GTR (actually it's a CLK LM in GT4, but never mind that) and the 1999 TS020 GT-One...

Ok ill look tonight then! I just wanted to know the power of both. I know they are not given, but saw someone show a picture of a graph of ingame, of a car, which power was unknown as well... Thats why I would like to think for the power of those 2 cars, its possible too!
Thank you

Just to prewarn you, expect a bit of a surprise.

It seems PD have adjusted the power to make them competitive - in straight lines - with the 1990s Group C cars. They are about as accurate to real life as GT2's JGTC cars were.

I haven't played GT4 myself, and it's certainly possible that I may be mistaken but the following is based on the media I've seen:

The Toyota TS020 GT-One recorded a top speed of 350km/h on the Mulsanne straight in 1999. In a video posted by Egghead the Bentley Speed 8 gets to roughly 360km/h (the chicanes were there in both cases). The difference isn't significant, considering that the Bentley is a newer model.

If the Le Mans videos of the Nissan R92 C-group car and the Bentley Speed 8 are compared, there is a noticeable difference in acceleration when in high speeds, just as it would be in real life. I personally don't see anything suspicious about the newer Le Mans cars in the game, and I hardly think they're comparable to the 700+hp JGTC cars in GT2.

GT3 TS020 GT-One 1999 - 651hp, 900kg
GT4 TS020 GT-One 1999 - 765hp, 900kg

GT3 Nissan R390 GT1 LM 1998 - 641hp, 900kg
GT4 Nissan R390 GT1 LM 1998 - 749hp, 1000kg

GT3 Mazda 787B 1991 - 690hp, 830kg
GT4 Mazda 787B 1991 - 792hp, 830kg

Do you have to ask why I'm wondering if the power ratings were adjusted to keep up with:

GT4 Bentley Speed 8 EXP 2003 - 786hp, 900kg?

No further comment necessary.

That is before the Turbo upgrades. 1200+ with the C9 and TC-V can so say wheelies on any track with a straightaway. 👍

Yes - that's stock, as the cars arrive in your garage, with no user intervention of any degree at all.

With such a wide disparity in figures between the two games, KY/PD are saying that their figures for one of the games was wrong and it was never a "Real Driving Simulator" because the cars were under/overpowered.

Anyone want to guess which?

I bet the difference has to do with some of the hp and weight restrictions. Every race series has these. Take the CTS-V for SCCA, when it made it's first run the car had a perfect 50/50 balance and a 7,600 rev limit.

I can't remember the name of the race (the article I think is in Road and Track) but the cars performed too well in the eyes of the SCCA so they added 200lbs. Making the balance 52/48 and reduced the rev limit to 7,000

I bet this could explain the differance with the CLK and GT-one. The race cars where changed for the season so they could still be competive.

bah 450 is nothing, i got 485 with c9 :). i could easily go more tho, cuz the 485 was like the 1st time i changed any of the c9's settings (gear ratios etc.).

I don't know if Famine is right about the other cars being upgraded. The Sauber C9 has 720 hp, and the other group C cars are around this level. I think the C9 has the best power to weight ratio, excluding the 787B, which in a way doesn't count because it has a different type of engine which is down on torque. If the power listings Famine showed are true, it seems as if other Le Mans cars have been adjusted to make them comparable in terms of power. Not sure why, exactly. However, Famine said the Bentley in GT4 has 786 hp. The only screenshot I can find shows 632 ps, which is about 632 hp.

I'm presuming that the Sauber C9 will be the fastest of the Le Mans cars in GT4 (without upgrades). Even then, I think in sheer speed around a circuit terms, the Sauber Mercedes C11 (which isn't in GT4) would be even quicker than the C9. In the hands of youngster Michael Schumacher, it set by far the fastest lap of the 1991 race, and looked good to win, before the gearbox began to disintegrate. The C11 has about 10 more hp than the C9. I guess they included the C9 and not the C11 because the C9 won Le Mans and the C11 didn't. Good enough reason I suppose.

Yes true, however, I though the CLK-GTR was one of the fastest cars in GT4.
Yes Group C cars are faster, on the straight , but not in bends, because due time the newer cars have better downforce and lots of better new things...

But then again, I like the Sauber C9 very much, so that's cool it is the fastest Le Mans car!
