CLK-GTR changed name to CLK-LM?

I was really sure this car was named CLK-GTR Race Car '98 when I won it many moons ago from the AMG academy. Now it popped up in my UCD and is called CLK-LM Race Car '98 I thought it was a different car but it is checked marked. Also it is called CLK-GTR on mygranturismo.net I did a search but found no articles about either of those names (on the GTP iphone app right now tho, seems like it gives no or bad search results sometimes). Anybody know if I'm mistaken, or when it changed names??

Think you'll find their is such a car as CLK LM, ignore that list. GT always had it wrong calling it the CLK GTR, the car that's shown in the game is the CLK LM but for some reason has the CLK GTR's wheels. GTR had different bodywork features and a 6 litre V12 engine. LM has the bodywork shown in GT's 4 and 5 which was revised for high speed stability (though Peter Dumbreck will quite possibly disagree with the 'stability' of a CLK LM!) and has a 5 litre V8 engine. If they've finaly corrected it then it means they've realised their error.

ok, i was wrong, i have the CLK touring car (was CKL-GTR when i bought it) and CLK-LM. completely different beasts.

Yes, it has been changed to the correct name in the game now.

CLK GTR Coupe - The road going version (homologation model for the race car)

CLK LM - The FIA GT/Le Mans race car. This is the car that's in GT.

That's the one! Now head to YouTube and key in Peter Dumbreck Le Mans crash to watch that car really 'fly' ! Predictably, the people who post the videos get the cars name wrong.

^Nope sir it is you that is wrong, the car that Peter Dumbreck 'flew' as you say is the CLR not the CLK-LM

For extra clarification:
CLK GTR - The original 1997 Race Car that Mercedes produced with the V12 engine for the FIA GT series
CLK LM - The 1998 Race Car that was built with a V8 engine to run at Le Mans but was also used in the FIA GT series after Le Mans
CLR - The 1999 Car which famously flipped whilst going down the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans and was only raced once and never raced again after the event.

The CLK-GTR road car was a homologation special. Of the CLK-GTR race car. The CLK-GTR competed in FIA GT in 1997. The CLK-LM was designed to compete at Le Mans in 1998 (and after it performed well, they replaced the CLK-GTRs with the newer LM). The car in GT4/GT5 was still wrong, though.

This is still great news, though.

The car is correct, it's now called the CLK-LM which is the correct name and the correct car

I stand corrected. 👍

In my garage it says clk-gtr, when my b-spec is driving, it says clk lm

That is because the garage overview in GT5 apparently is not able to refresh the names of cars. The name of the GTR/LM was changed in an update, so if you had it before, it will stay the "GTR" in the overview, but everywhere else you will see "LM".

The same effect shows with the Race Modifications. They do not show the additional "RM" in the name in the garage overview.

However, there is one way to change the name in the overview. You can trade it to another account and back. Because you had no prior "wrong" name on the other account, it will get the correct one right away.

Really underrated car.

Can catch a lot of people by surprise due to it's speed and the heavier weight it carries around.

Easiest to differentiate, just look at the headlights....the GTR headlights are on the same level horizontally.
The LM has slightly different orientation.
The one in GT5 is the LM.

In 1997 it was called the CLK-GTR. In 1998 the car was upgraded and became the CLK-LM. It was always wrong in the GT series until it was recently corrected.
