Forget the plates.
It's all about the car, the scene, the idea behind…
Changing the plates by using external images was allowed since I can remember.
This competition never was established by an official authority, so imho there shall be a wider spread of interpretation acceptable.

Exactly - it's all about the shot and composition, guys. 👍

No, he can't, because it violates the rule saying that 'no more than one image can be allowed' in entries, which is the license plate.
This has been discussed before, and I will find you the link to that. ;)
Edit: There you go.

ok - fixed the picture by brushing everyting. Just to clear any speculation.👍 Also changed the texts of the plate frame (like one could read it ;)) and smudged off the side stripes as i originally plannet - doesnt look better, but its more accurate to my original vision. Checking the rules again i figured that it is allowed atleast by using nothing but the smudge tool.

Anyways the picture is very lightly edited - just adjusting highlights / color balance and some noise. went with just a little of noise - looks less impressive in preview but better in the big picture.

end off story - dont stop the press :sly:

I don't want to be mean but you cleaned out the black stripe in the side of the car... Just noticed it now.

Add/erase something to the original body of the car is not allowed. :)

I wanted to clean that stripe too as well as paint the back of the trunk in black...but isn't allowed. :S

"Alter the geometry of the car. No stickers, or body modifications not available in game"

Correct me if im wrong, but doesnt that mean the actual geometry or adding stickers? cleaning that stripe (with smudge) is like adding dirt to the car - just opposite. If not i will have to post the striped version with the brushed plate..:ouch: These rules are painfull - think ill stick to the photomode competition after this..:dunce:

ok the stripe is back. Now it should be "by the book" and i wont touch it. Ill propably be disqualifed for editing the entry too many times - or just for being an ass.. 👎:guilty:

Sorry for coming in on the discussion a little late, I've not been at my computer.
License plate mods are allowed with limited options - the idea behind it was to allow you to cleanup the ugly standard plates and as a creative spot to put a signature. What you can't do is cut a plate from another image and paste it in to your entry. You technically can build one from scratch using the standard tools, but as mentioned already it's more about the creativity of the overall shot, the car and composition etc... Better to focus on those than building an elaborate plate. ;)

As to removing stripes, that definitely falls outside the rules. Also I think the entries with the old film look may also be dodgy in that adding the scratches is adding objects not originally present in the image and I believe falls under the artist filter rule.
May have to double check that with SlipZ but I'd be prepared to have to change them ffjjbb and Sinfour.

So "antique filters" are not alloud? I will change if its not, but hopefully its ok :)
I thought it would pass under this:

* Add noise and/or diffuse glow.

Thanks for the answer. so fabricated plates are accepted but not adding value to the picture. Thats nice since these details are more for me myself liking the picture. :)👍 And good to hear a more detailed line on rules what comes to using smudge/noise. Good thing I had a version with the stripes. ;)

I was thinking of changing my entry...then I ask my girlfriend an opinion (she's a designer/photographer)...and she told me not to...

"the composition, the black/white balance and the angle are better in this one. It's like a detail shot but we can see the surroundings too."

Guess I won't change it... Sometimes I feel so dumb -.-' lol

Thanks Chris. :D

I have confirmation regarding the "antique photos". It is as I said, the use of antique filters, scratches and stains is outside the scope of the 2.0 rule set.
Sorry ffjjbb and Sinfour, you will have to change your entries.

wont be entering this week photobucket wont fully load my stuff

something wrong with the photobucket at the moment - you are not the only one. I can recommend flicker. fast and easy sign up if you have yahoo or google account (gmail) 👍

FINAL ENTRY

There's a Pontiac GTO hidden behind the Mach 1, but you can't see it in this photo.
