Photomode Tournament Qualifying: 2.0 Side

There's times when I feel like my opinion on photos is just vastly different to most others'.

Wait, you were the one with that awesome drifting pink/purple FC RX-7 during the last tournament, right?
It's always the good ones which leave first. ;)

Indeed. I guess I just have a different taste than the common voter :p

Fingers crossed it's 32, otherwise I'll be a spectator for the rest of the competition :grumpy:

So is it the top 16 that make it to the first round? First post only says

Unless he meant 20 in roman numerals :dopey:

I think that means that he doesn't know it yet. I think 32 is the way to go since so many people are competing. I don't see why to shrink it to 16 right away. Who wouldn't like an extra round of tourney? :)

Luis talked with me last night about the poll sizes - the concern right now is a lot of newcomers submitted images for the qualifier (possibly because of the front page mention), and we're worried that people may not realize the commitment level required for the tournament. Since they'll be doing new shots each week, he's just confirming that they all know what they're getting into - I think we can all agree that while an extra round, starting with 32 instead of 16, would be sweet, it'd be very disappointing if a bunch of rounds are defaulted on because one person doesn't submit :)

Lol, right now I think I'm in 17th place. Yet that changes every few minutes.

Am I missing something in the 2nd image?

I hear ya, there are several images here that look solid in preview but blown up, its over-sharpened, out of focus, etc....little things. That's why full views are a necessity.

But would people suddenly forget to enter if the tourney is 5 instead of 4 weeks? I don't think that's such a significant difference. And with so much newcomers like you said, there probably will be a number of default matches anyways, be it 4 or 5 weeks.

Let's have a vote on this :p

There are two shots on here that have criminally low votes. I won't say though to sway any voting. I'm just shocked. I'd like a 32 entry poll, but if it sticks at 16 so be it. I'm for whatever.

Being in about 20th to 25th depending on when I look, I have to say I would love 32 :sly:

Well, statistically speaking (and it applies to 2.0 more than PMC, thanks to editing) - if the first round were 16 instead of 32, the likelihood of people who have read and understand all the rules making the cut over those who didn't (and may or may not be as reliable later in the tournament) is higher.

I'm a bit surprised by the voting, as well - that's likely to be the case though, as time and time again, it seems like the influx of votes we get from non-regulars is usually a bit different from how the usual Photomode community typically votes.

I think that threat is going to be high this time no matter what with the new entrants. Hopefully everyone sticks around an becomes regulars.

Ofcourse, when you have 32 people left, chances are more people haven't read the rules correctly because there simply are more people participating. I don't see that as a problem though, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen either way.

Me too. But then again it's unpredictable to me to a certain degree. Look at my entry in the 2.0 this week, only 1 vote! I certainly would have expected a bit more than that since it had very positive coments.

I love it when that happens.

Remember my entry in 2.0´s Rallye Cross theme? Everyone was like "Whoa, we have a winner, this one is over". In the poll I had no chance for a shot at the victory. One week later in 2.0´s "Sunny vs Cloudy", no one was giving a **** about my entry but it ended up in the final poll, missing out on only 6 votes, when exactly 100 people voted.

Yesssss. I might even have a chance to move on to the next round. :p

Now, I just need two more votes to be on the safe side.
