This Week's Theme
Allow me the opportunity to get personal this week: I love a good artistic theme. This week's judge, @FerrellJ, has provided just that with "Deliberate Focus". Read on:

"The locations in GT Sport contain a lot of details besides just the cars on track. Photo mode provides an incredibly accurate simulation of real camera controls, allowing you to adjust focal length, shutter speed and aperture as you would on a real camera. Time to leverage those elements and compose a shot in which something besides a car is your primary subject. Here's the catch though- a car (or some part of it) still has to be somewhere in the frame."

CARS: Any
LIVERIES: Any
LOCATIONS: Any
SCAPES: Yes
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: The subject of the photo can not be a car but a car must still be somewhere in the frame

Competition Rules

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, start a convo with me.
  • The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here.
  • It is recommended you host your image either here on GTPlanet (via the Media section), or on Flickr.
  • Not sure how to submit your image? Here's a guide for both methods mentioned above.
  • Preview images can not exceed 640 pixels in either direction.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following:
    Code:
    [COLOR=red][B]FINAL ENTRY[/B][/COLOR]
  • No post-game editing, besides proportional resizing and rotating, is allowed.
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
  • Do not ask other users to choose your entry.
  • Absolutely no entries which utilize edited/hacked file saves.
  • You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
  • Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme.
  • Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
  • The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.

Damn, @FerrellJ, awesome theme. Definitely worth the wait! :D

Once again, props to @SlipZtrEm for keeping this going without any help whatsoever. I’d totally lend a hand if I had the time, but that’s the one thing I lack at the moment.

Im just not creative enough for themes like this :boggled:
You don't have to go completely off the rails. For what it's worth, that shot is pretty similar to shots I was going through and taking while coming up with this theme. The intent was to simply compel people to consciously play around with the camera controls and get a feel for what effect they have on the message your photo conveys (or give people that already have a grasp of that concept a chance to show off a little).

It was really hard coming up with the wording for this theme- I was originally going to restrict it to just using motion blur or just using depth of field but I could not come up with a way to convey the intent without allowing both tools- and then I had a super wide shot of Willow Springs with cars off in the distance and realized that even framing had a role to play...

Nice theme! :)

And once again, thanks to @SlipZtrEm for all the extra effort!
I'm glad theres a new theme now, as PD ruined daily races over the last weeks, I have now finally time to do more shoots :embarrassed:

I think scapes take all the fun to this week's theme. It's basically cropping a photograph taken by someone else (because the car is supposed to be secondary).

Props to the entries that were shot on track. 👍

Get what you're saying but there are some beautiful scapes and I for one wanted to try and capture something that stood out to me. There are better photos from the on track submissions no doubt.

Yeah, I think scapes actually make this theme harder in certain respects because there is only so much depth and range of movement to work with on most of them. That said, scapes allow you to adjust the shutter speed far beyond the 1/60th of a second race mode allows, which is the main reason I left them in.
