I'll take leather anytime.

It lasts forever, is very forgiving with burns and spills and such...

And, if you are racing naked, talk about grip!

Deliverator-if you say cloth is sticky, you probably were an idiot and spilled something on it, or don't know how to wash it. Leather can get sticky...

It really does depend on the quality of the leather.

I had a Thunderbird SuperCoupe that had horrible leather in it. The upside to it was, they had bolstering that had air bladders in 'em so you could pinch 'em right down on your sides to the point where you wouldn't move laterally.

<sigh> I miss that car.

saw this in a newsletter:

SAFETY CUTS
Ford is to modify seat trim on 16,500 of its 2002 model Thunderbirds. Tests by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed that the driver's seat belt could be partially cut after in a 35mph collision.

Cut it out, Mazkid, we do not want trouble here. And besides, leather is NOT sticky :p

...which is exactly why I don't like it. My wife's Neon has leather, and I have cloth. Hers is comfortable, yes, but if I were to drive her car the way I drive mine (let alone autocross) my butt would slide around so much I'd lose time just holding myself in the seat.

And woddgrain - especially FAKE woodgrain - must be destroyed.

Give this man a GTP award! Exactly right my friend. Leather for comfort, cloth (or Alcantara!!) for grip.
