I think there should be a clutch in GT5. God knows what Sony has in mind for the PS3 controller, but I certainly would love to heal-toe into a tight turn. By the by, how was the stick on the new steering wheel going to be? (alot of play, little play?)(My first post!!!)

Hey,
they could always use a R3 or L3 i guess?! wouldn't be very good though!

P.S. hint- talking about GT5 when GT4 hasn't come out yet doesn't usually go down well in this forum (a lot of shouting and very messy), so my advice if you can is maybe not quite mention it quite yet ;) .

i dunno, a clutch might be too advanced for most ppl when racing. but aside from that, would a clutch in the game mean having a possibility of stalling the car?

Damm strait there should be a clutch it would be awsome

also if anyones played V8 super cars on ps2 you will know how the affect of torque is used when u hit the acclerator the car twists and turns under the stress of torque and when u go in reverse flat out and then hit 1st and accelerate it rights a j shape with boths wheels these are both realistic affects and i think they should be put in the game also have smoke from the tyre if u sit there and do a line locker the screen should become white from the burning rubber

i totally agree with you
when i am in my car in real life and i floor it off the line (it has an LSD) the car steps out under wheelspin, i was dissapointed in GT3 when ya floor it and get some serious wheelspin it just goes totally straight doesnt step out at all (unless ya turn a little)

i also would like some more smoke and rubber laid on the ground(i think this will have some performance issues though)

i think when making games u dont worrie bout that u make it fun and make people want to play for the excitment of doing line lockers and burnouts and stuff
But although we speculate i wonder if all this gets back to the makers of GT4

The reason there was no rubber laid down was the lack of memory the ps2 has on board (32mb). So physics modules+Vehicle renders+particle effects+track=No memory what so ever.

As far as car behavior, the GT3/(4?) engine does not support it. Your car does not change shape in that game because 1.)Programming time 2.)Console resources.

And finally, what I really really want, the clutch. I think that they could have the basic control implemented in a week or less. But once again, alot of trouble goes into that one. New samples just for one. New engine noises, starter sounds, grinding sounds for synchro killing misshifts. They have deadlines.

Particle effects need to be enhanced desperatly. I am (another ;) ) drift enthusiast with the craving for big clouds coming from my car, but the PS2 is to underpowered to handle it.

This is why I spoke of GT5. The PS3 (BETTER:) ) be able to handle all of this stuff. And more. Hopefully that cell chip stuff will be able to help us GTers out.:D

I agree with toleman19, You Haven't Even played Gran Turismo 4 yet. So we can't think about Gran Turismo 5 yet. Who Know's maybe Gran Turismo 4 Will Have a Clutch in it?:)

I understand what you are saying, someone already said it. I thought I had already pointed out that this console (ps2) can not handle some of the things people want. GT4 is on this console. Furthermore, I would gladly be called "Mrs. hymen" for the next four years if there were a clutch in gt4. I do not understand what the problem is with me speaking of GT5. Look at movie sequels. By the time the first matrix was in theaters, they had already put together the ending credits for re-loaded. Now I am not saying that it is the same way with Gran Turismo, I know better. What I am saying is although I will miss sleep and have puddles of drool on me after playing GT4, I am still humanly greedy enough to want more mehoohahahahahaha!

PS:Who wants to slow down? :D

lets just stop this, i'm in a bad mood because of a newbie who start AGAIN with this GT5 stuff, for the LOVE of GOD man let it go, get a few hours of sleep, oooh...but wait, i'm sorry, you already have GT4 and you spoke to the PD team and you have inside infromation on GT5, and thats why you're talking about it right??? correct me if i'm wrong, you have no live whatsoever. GT5...come on...:banghead:

Most racecars only use the clutch for getting off the line so why bother

Why don't you calm down a bit. He can talk about GT5, GT6 and GT43 if he wants to.

Back to the topic, I'm with georgemoney. A clutch should be in, but should also be optional. I personally love arcade games with a clutch pedal option, but most of them don't really care if you press it or not. I want a game that does.

It's a driving simulator after all, right?

Yep.
I'd love to get the perfect start and control my wheelspin from the starting line, with a clutch rather than just using the throttle all the time  .

Simulation vs. Arcade, my friend.

That's why I said it should be optional. I'm sorry you don't know how to control a clutch.

This is a very good point. Never really thought about that.

But, it does take a bit of skill to do, especially in a street car.
