Thing is, I'm not really sure what other publisher would be interested in funding an open world driving game right now with Horizon 6 just around the corner. Even Tencent is starting to get more stingy with tossing money around, from what's being said.

Horizon is a huge cashcow. I think a huge reason why this project and the one from Lighthouse got greenlit was because they could point to Horizon's success, so in theory, finding a new publisher chasing that Horizon money shouldn't be difficult. It would be tragic if this didn't make it to the finish line, the screenshot looks incredible

Game sounds a lot further on than I was expecting. They are working on the announcement trailer & getting licensing approved/paid, so maybe a reveal in the next few months depending on what happens with a new publishing deal.

It's still very worrisome that their publisher dropped out at this stage of development... Do they feel that there is no business case for this game if it releases after Forza Horizon 6 and within the launch window of GTA 6?

I think it's more Amazon getting out of the gaming business apart from Tomb Raider, which links with their upcoming TV series.

Did you see that BlackPanthaa not only went to Maverick's headquarters, but also played the game? That means the game is now truly playable...

Games starts to be playable even with 2 years left of development, doesn't mean anything, also why they don't show the game then?

Calm down, I'm sorry. I just wanted to bring new information to the topic. And according to the podcast that was already posted here, they are preparing the game's trailer and we will have more information later this year.

Why would they show anything now? Only if they wanted less media coverage. After all, everyone is talking about Forza Horizon 6.

Hopefully they'll be providing some concrete info on what kind of game this is going to be, and not just pre-rendered footage and a title logo. Is it a glamorous TDU-style game about living the lifestyle like the Porsches and possible location suggest? Or is it a more quirky kind of game that checks out the more obscure and unique cars of its setting, like Horizon (cause using a Fiat Multipla as their social media setpiece kind of implies that)?

Give us some actual talking points, so we don't end up forgetting this exists until the day it gets released.

2nd June is the date of the next State of Play for PS5.
The countdown ends several hours before the SoP, but any trailer might show up there as well.

Has a Multipla been in any racing games?

Lol.

«shows Col de Turini, La Turbie, race series called R1K Riviera, all the cars on French plates»

"... the world-exclusive premiere of the Clutch trailer, and that will reveal the location the game is set in..."

HMM. I WONDER WHERE.

You know, I'm glad the premise of the game diverts everyone's expectations from being a festival-racer. Though, how the organized racing and street-side of the racing is presented reminds me of TDUSC. Then the 'twist' of how the organized racing works almost feels like NFS Heat.

But I'm glad that there seems to be a plot, where we have to follow along.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Maverick Games Reveals “Clutch”, Its New Open-World Racer

The studio a lot of us have been quietly keeping tabs on since 2022 finally has something to show.
mmm, it's way too early to discuss about this game, but i was hoping for something more tdu like (the orginal one, not tdusc), like a real successor of tdu2, i'm still really looking forward to further updates about this game tho.

The fact that they've incorporated car chases into the game means that some of our favorite brands are unlikely to appear. (For example, Toy...cough)

But who cares? That car chase scene looked the most fun in this trailer. And a non-indie open-world racing game with car chases where the player is a criminal being chased by the police is probably not going to happen until this game is released, unless EA reverses its ridiculous decision to continue sacrificing other studios and IPs for Battlefield.

FH6 seems to be trying to address the shortcomings and feedback of previous installments in the series, and it looks like it's doing a good job. And Clutch also seems to be a game that tries to address the shortcomings and feedback of FH in a different way than FH6.

I hope this game is successful and not only revitalizes the racing game genre but also changes the era of FH's dominance. Having rivals makes the industry and each title better than having just one franchise that's too strong.
