Cockpit View is long overdue for some basic common sense improvements

I only race in Cockpit view and this new update just triggered me, the Z-Tune's windshield looks like it's been smeared with Vaseline for some reason
But there's been some very basic settings other racing games have had forever that GT just refuses to implement, list in no particular order below..

Better FOV and seat positioning in general - (currently it's very limited)
Steering Wheel & Hands - Option to toggle these FFS THIS IS STANDARD IN ANY RACE GAME/SIM
Windshield Glare/Reflection - Forza 6 had this in the options menu to reduce interior reflections off the windshield
Wobble - How about Type NONE !!
Interior Opacity settings for Race cars- They already have this currently working on the SF19 Formula car with the middle Halo bar, it's already in the damn game :dopey:
Holy hell you get into some race cars and can't see a damn thing, Roll Cages and other Race car interior stuff blocking so much of your view

These are the most obvious ones, feel free to add any other below

In reality the cockpit view is pretty much what you see in that car.
The reason after years of CV i switched to bumper view and became much faster although I sometimes go to CV for 'realism'.
In real life we move our heads/eyes VERY slightly to improve our road car CV.

If you combine all of these ideas you basically get the "bumper cam" view.

I'm very sorry but you will find in some real race cars the view you will have is quite restricted, in real life...
Sure, but in real life I can move my head around to help see around some of the obstructions (much like you can do in VR I assume) and if I feel my seat height is too high or too low I can adjust that too (you can in GT7 but to such a tiny degree that it rarely makes much difference). And while your point is true, it doesn't change the reality that these types of viewpoint settings are commonplace in most racing games and don't exist in GT7 for some reason.

I use bumper cam in GT7 but I'd definitely use cockpit cam a lot more if it was more customizable.

Changing seat height position would be nice, as would removing the steering wheel and having clear cockpit instruments that can be used instead of the game add on. The other stuff, not sure, enclosed cars, particularly race cars with roll cage etc have restricted vision, surely that’s just part of the visual ‘experience’ of the game.

Sorry but in real a race car you are wearing a helmet WITH a HANS device and that restricts your head movement and seats are NOT adjustable.

The on screen display should be completely customizable like the F1 games. It's too much clutter imo, especially in cockpit view.

Yea but we're in a GAME.. and just like I said they already HAVE this feature with the halo bar removal on the SF19

Hotdamn that's the actually the most obvious thing they need to change that I totally forgot to mention.
Customizable HUD, I mean they don't have to be draggable like in some race Sims, but some level of customization other than On or Off is needed

In a real race car everything is set up ahead of time for each individual driver according to driving preferances. And restricting head movement is different from eliminating head movement. I'm fairly certain drivers still have some range of motion. All it takes is moving your eye point a couple cms to be able to quickly get a look around most of the little visual obstacles in the way.

I can't stand having the driver list and track map take up a large part of the screen, but if I turn it off then I lose the position and lap counter in the top left, the stuff I actually want.

This has been a gripe of mine since GT Sport.

Isn’t bumper, the same as cockpit, with a billboard(interior).

Honestly, i don’t get why people suffer through cockpit cam when vr exists. Kinda renders the whole, i like cockpit for ‘realism,’ moot…or at least a head scratcher.

lol...well not all of us want to drop coin on a VR headset.

Bumper cam is essentially the same height as cockpit cam, but the eyepoint is shifted to the middle of the car and moved forward a few feet to a point basically almost over the front bumper. Imagine having the TV screen sitting on the hood of your car near the bumper and that's about it. It's actually a really good viewpoint for my particular setup since I can't get my screen closer than about a meter from my wheel base. It would be perfect if it was properly positioned in terms of seat position in the given car (L/R/mid) and it showed just a bit of the hood of the car along the bottom edge of the screen.

I have the PSVR2 and I'd love to be able to use it but I get motion sickness while using it...
Although to be fair I upgraded to the PS5 Pro and it noticeably improved this issue for me.
With the Slim, in the very first turn I'd want to take the headset off immediately, now with the Pro I can actually do a few laps with very minor motion sickness.

But I just can't get over how badly the image quality is compared to an actual screen, I'm spoiled by my 4k LG oled which looks amazing, playing in VR is like going down to 720p

I think people don’t appreciate how important frame rate is when in vr. Hopefully, that’s less of an issue as things mature tech wise.

I had a reasonable expectations with the vr image. It was never going to be ‘amazing,’ with those specs. What it is though, is the min specs which vr doesn’t suck at. I have a 77” lg g3 its nice but vr is the only way ill play GT.

Not for nothing. Playstation games have grown pretty ho hum.. to the extent where i moved my ps5 to another room, relegated to a 65” samsung which is about 10yrs old. Seeing the game on that and then putting on the vr brain bucket doesn’t seem so bad anymore 😂

Race on vr and all those issues are solved
