Codemasters to Develop Official WRC Titles from 2023

Pfft, I'm preordering as soon as it's available to preorder. DR2s monetisation was fine, some didn't like it, that's fine, but I didn't mind. Generous season passes with a glut of content, hard to complain really. I know the complaints focussed on the return of the previous games rallies but given the work that was done to the majority of them, it got a pass from me. The GOTY is the best rally game that's ever been released.

True. I would love to see WRC as packed with content as DR2.0.
One thing is worring though… i doubt we will see RallyCross co tent this time :(

We almost certainly will. The WRC Promoter own the rights to WRC, ERC, and WRX. How much content there is, however, remains to be seen. DR2 still has RX content, so even then, you can still go back to that.

Just noticed, bottom right of the game cover it says Dirt Rally. I wonder if it's part of the branding or if it's a "from the creators of" type thing.
You can also see the game in the video:

Trailer is about to premier.

Not a whole lot to go on from the trailer, very much an action trailer, but it looks decent so far, if the sounds are from in-game then that is one big plus point already.

Look forward to seeing more.

It better have my Colin Mcrae Ford Focus!!

Central European Rally won't make it for launch, disappointing but given that rally was a late addition and spans 3 countries, I can understand that being tricky. They have teased long and more detailed stages which is a positive, hopefully they can match the scale of some of KT's efforts.

"The advanced Dynamic Handling System refines Codemasters’ original model and gives players our most realistic off-road experience to date.

Taking feedback from drivers, including Jon Armstrong, our very own game designer and current European Rally Championship 3 Champion, players can choose the same professional driver set-up mirroring the experience drivers encounter every race week.

New players can personalise the handling, making adjustments to help them master the ultimate player versus environment off-road challenge. The realism extends to audio, with each car intricately replicated, and new pace notes, including simplified commands for rookie drivers, give much-needed information to the player as they battle through each stage."

The introduction of Builder fulfils the dream of those longing to create their very own modern-era rally car. Select the chassis, body shells, and all-important mechanical parts before customising the interior and exterior, finally personalising with the livery editor. Put the car through its paces and make any necessary adjustments before competing for the World Championship against the best competition WRC has to offer."

No mention about VR even for PC. I hope they will give us more info soon.
Check this thread. PC only for VR.

Running on Unreal, RIP EGO. How this an improvement and not for the sake of EA.
Improvement will be aplenty. EGO was outdated and had it's limitations for rally games. Unreal should let them add more detail and length to the stages without compromising how the game runs. Especially if it is UE5.

Current car list and classes.

Post Launch.:
18. Central European Rally (Round 12 of the WRC 2023 season).

From the few screenshots and trailer so far, I'm sure I have seen Spain, so that could be one of the 5. Wales, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, USA and Argentina are the other rallies from DR2 that aren't on the WRC calendar, so if Spain is one then potentially 4 of these will follow?

With historic WRC moments featuring, I reckon it will be Wales, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia alongside Spain.

Great news on the pricing. I sure hope they've recorded the co-drivers in the same way as DR2.0 by strapping them into a motion rig and scaring the living **** out of them. I want to hear the fear and panic in their voices.

I loved that in DR2, really gave the pace notes some life, the switch from chilled to frantic was awesome.

Obviously that's your prerogative but I think we as consumers aren't helped by people pre ordering for a variety of reasons, and there really isn't any need for anyhow.

Anyway, on topic. Trailer looks nice but can't really tell much about the game other than it looks very pretty :)

I was theorizing about this months ago, because of how much they've delayed the launch of the game.

The WRC 2023 calendar ends in Japan on November 19th. They really can't launch the game as a 2023 game, because they'd need a quick turnaround for the 2024 season, which is usually in January.

Given that they launched this game without a year in the title, I assume the 2024 season will come as DLC. Then in 2025, they'll begin a yearly cycle

So when do we see the standard practice of EA monetization that will inevitably run this into the ground?

Could see that happening, based on what is currently known about the 2024 calendar, Latvia would the only rally needing to be added. All the cars are the same I believe for 2024. Not too far fetched.

Damn it... I am starting to believe that PSVR2 is forgotten hardware just like VITA was.

eh I am annoyed right now.

Whilst I doubt it will run the game into the ground, I'm expecting it to follow the F1/PGA Tour method of having some form of premium pass for cosmetics/boosts etc to go with the 5 seasons we know about. Didn't arrive in PGA Tour until a few months after launch and all additional content has been free.

Okay I'm not getting into a discussion but I'll touch this very quickly. The game is ready for release on the first day of "early access". They just decided to DELAY it for people not preordering. Hence, depending on your perspective, you're not really gaining anything but other people are losing something (access to the game in october). I'll shut up now. I'm not here to argue and I'm just as happy about this game releasing in the near future as most others I'm just not pre ordering ;)
