For all of you people out there getting bored... (like me) ...new thread. What do you think of coffee breaks in GT5? Like in GT4 in the license tests. I kinda liked 'em. Actually made you think about how to drive the car. That one in IA I think, It was a field of cones. That was the only weird one. Anyone else like the idea of Coffee Breaks in GT5? (Note: I'm bored out of my mind.... )

I think they're interesting. I still think we need to have a huge open parking lot (with light poles and everything) that we get to place cones on.

Sounds like a good idea. The cones need to be like cement poles though. Gymkhana in GT4 for example, you hit the cones and then you have to restart.

Random: My house seems to have a problem with flies. On the front porch, you open the door, and a swarm of flies tries to get in! We don't know why...they seem to love our windowsill though.....:yuck:

Ok, back to the main topic.....

You need to get some frogs and/or spiders (: Perhaps a Venus Fly Trap would be simpler.

Gymkhana would be fun in GT5 if there were penalties for cone fouls. Like .5 second for touching, 2 seconds for knocking over.

Yes it would and good idea.

It'll be a great idea for more coffee breaks. I think it'll be cool if it was set up as a real parking lot too. And they should have a wet/dirt/snow parking lot too.

While everyone was finding every excuse to hate GT4, I actually thought the Coffee Breaks were quite welcome. I don't know if I'd call them "coffee breaks," since I'm obviously not going to have a coffee mug with my name on it or the GT Logo (I don't have one, by the way) and drink some coffee after some hard racing. Of course, coffee breaks don't count towards your Gold/Silver/Bronze count, so don't be afraid if you don't do well. The good thing is that you can completely miss out on Silver and Gold, but still be able to advance to the rest of the License Tests.

No doubt they should return. I'd probably want to see all sorts of interesting cone challenges as well as maybe bring back one of GT1's license tests, in which you had a Subaru Impreza and you had to race around a specially-designed 100m oval, and you had to clear five laps. Perhaps a nice test would be about taking the front straight of Special Stage Route 11 (granted it will be in the game) and converting the straight into a slalom. The more you're able to get the car between the tall cones, the more you'll continue the test. For each cone gate you fail to cross, 5 seconds will be added to your time. Of course, whack a wall and it's over.

I'm sorry. I don't have any real ideas for any interesting Coffee Breaks, but they need to return. They can actually be quite fun and interesting.

Total rubbish. Sorry to all you coffe break fans, but they didn't add anything new to the game. They were just a waste of time and space.

I'd like to see them ditched, but I'll give PD their due, at least they tried something a bit different. That if nothing else is worthy of note.

kikie
Coffee breaks?? No, no, tea time
For all the British out there.....:) . You know that one coffee break with the red 350Z convertible (<-spelling?), that one was cool, it was like a race through the slalom, around the curve, around the block and then drive fast, slow down for curve, then get the car through a very tight space of cones and stop in the checkered area. That one was COOL. :sly:

Try to get rid of that poo lying around everywhere. Flies love poo.:sly:

Just kidding, just open a honey glass and put it on a desk. After a while the glass is full of drowned flies.:yuck:

They were alright, kind of gave you a short challenge, but I wont be missing them if they're not in GT5, and I bet no-one will really cares if it's in GT5 or not.

i liked the coffee breaks. Its all cool. License tests and coffee breaks are awesome challeges and i hope they stay. They are a trademark of GT and i enjoy them. :D

I think that coffee break could be a new mode. In this mode you get the tests that PD makes for you and an option to make your own and send to a friend or put on the internet for other people to download. The possibilities in this mode are limitless, this mode would be just like the one in Live For Speed.

Exactly. They should implement a feature of layout-sharing: One guy does the layout, his buddy can race it. This'd add possibilities for OLR - something like an Autocross series, where the admin makes a course every week, and everyone runs it and submits the time...

Mmm... Cappuccino. Funny, I'm drinking one right now.

I still think the coffee breaks are fun...By the way, I started this thread back in June of '05. Wow that was a long time ago... I just happened to get on today and thought, "Coffee Break"? And it was started by me. lol

Again, if you don't want to race them, don't buy it. I'm not going to get GTHD, so I'm not bothered. I still stand by my claim that this mode offers great fun away from license tests. The best thing about them? You don't have a minimal time to complete it. You can start it, take a shower, play some basketball on your driveway for about 10 minutes, then come back and clear the Coffee Break. No sweat (no pun intended). They are about as much of love-it-or-hate-it as the concept cars in GT4. No real problem. Don't want to take Coffee Breaks? Don't have to.

So fear not.

Yeah, they're actually quite fun. I like the control and planning needed for a fast time in them, just like I love to just explore different ways of completing the 1st and 5th coffee brake. While drinking coffee, of course...

However, they could be expanded into more of a "for-fun challenge". You get a course plotted by the PS3, or download one from the net, with different objectives - from the Ghymkhana-like 4th test, to things like "knock over the cones" and path-finding. It could be really fun...

Maybe ployphony should have a downloadable coffee break game for ps3 (if sony has a game download system similer to xbox live arcade.)

the game could have regular updates added. (like new tests and stuff)

I hated the coffee breaks. Which means they will definately be in GT5/HD.
