GTP has now got quite a few members. (Understatement. :scared:)
I thought it'd be interesting to know what sort of GT5 players we all are.

So why do you play GT5?

Do you enjoy to race flat out? only wanting the fastest cars?
Do you like to collect rare classics and desirable cars. Are you a drifter?
Or do you just like to run different cars to see what times you can set.

1. Flat-out racer. Fastest is best.
2. Collector. The thrill is driving the rare and desirable.
3. Drifter. Tail-out sliding all the way.
4. All round driver.

I am a little bit of all of those so 4 most likely. I like to try everything out, but I spend a lot of time doing TT trying to set fast laps.

I'm not really a racer, more technical-minded in trying to get one flat-out fast lap. I'm a collector at heart though, I have many cars in my garage that I've bought but haven't gotten around to doing anything with yet - I'll see something I find interesting in the used car lot and buy it!

To me, racing the appealing feature of Gran Turismo. Things that get in the way of that are real fun spoilers.

Also, I don't think your poll option is accurate. Racing isn't just about speed. I'll race anything as long as it's fun to drive. Needing to collect cars make them all, fast or slow, hard to get.

Collector for me. I've been trying to save up some GT5 cash, but temptation was too great when I saw a Jenson Interceptor in the used car lot. I don't even think it's particularly great to drive, just had to have it.

I am more of a collector guy. I love to buy cars that I like such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc so that I can take them out for a spin for pleasure. It's fun. When I challenge myself with time trial, I'll be using the cars I love.

I'll drive anything... once. So I suppose I am an all round driver, but I do collect as many cars (for now) that interest me. After getting those I'll start filling in the gaps.

I've got several like that. I don't think the Interceptor is any good either, but still had to have it. Though I love the VW Karmann Ghia. Great fun. Got several modern desirables too like the Spoon Integra. Awesome car.

Collecting at least 2 or 3 of each premium. 1 left stock, 1 slightly and realisticly modded with soft sports tyres and perhaps level 2 shocks and a new intake and muffler then a 3rd version modded to the max.

Got all the muscle cars, Corvettes and Vipers covered already. I honestly only use the standard cars to complete challenges to get the credits to get at the premium content.

This is after all, a driving sim - not really a racing sim

I guess im all round to be honest.
I do like driving fast cars but some of the best races are in slower cars. I kinda like stuff around Touring Car class. Recently though Ive been getting into Oval driving. Im English and before thought it was pointless. However Ive joined some online rooms for Nascar driving and had a lot of fun racing against real people with similar cars. The races are pretty interesting when you get the hang of the tactics.
Im Useless at drifting however. I find it very hard to drift standard set up cars. I can do it if I wash out the rear but it doesnt seem natural. After all the driving Ive done for real and on GT since day one, if my back end gets that far out I panic...LOL

Im not saying drifting isnt a good part of motor sport. When I see someone who can do it well I find myself grinning and it does look good. I guess its a bit like racing horses and gymkhana. Well theyre calling the stuff Ken Block does Gymkhana now so I dont think I can offend anyone with that statement!

EDIT: Oh and it is nice to have some classics ill never be able to afford in the GT garage!

how the hell can the majority be collector-drivers... thats just madness... or is it SPARTA? :P

I think the majority incarnations of GT (GT2, GT4, GTPSP, GT5) have very much been aimed at the collector/car enthusiast. Why else have such a high car count. To offer some choice I suppose, but many of the cars are hardly racing bred.

I like racing flat out in all kinds of cars, rare or not. Something enjoyable to drive, comparable to the rest of the field, or underpowered for the extra challenge. Sideways is fun in certain cars too :D

I will also be collecting every car in the game, lol. Can I check all of them? :P

Mostly a collector.

Can't just sell any car I've won...unless it's ugly/horrible performance :P.

Just goes to show how badly Kaz missed the ball with the crazy Xp count vs poor credit earnings model he implimented for GT5.

The majority of GT fans like the cars and want to enjoy them, the racing is simply a means to that end.

If we just wanted to have realistic racing we would fire up GTR, GTR2, GTL of rFactor on the PC ;)

Now you see why we want the shadows fixed??

Perfectionist. I spend more time doing time trials than anything else. I love it when I take a corner perfectly and at that moment just know I took at least a second off my fastest lap. I love racing endurance races.

collector first racer second. just starting to learn drifting. my goal is to get every car in the game fully modded and painted in skyline midnight purple
