Colour obsession - do you have one?

well last night i spent about an hour looking for the right color combination for my McLaren F1.
I wanted the "original" orange that you see on most press photos from it's time, but the orange color it comes with is looking no where near the "real one".
I also wanted to paint the rims a color that would match the orange, but alas, I ended up leaving the rims completely stock, as the original ones simply look better. and well, they're the original ones.
I ended up using Premium Passionate Orange (3P) that the Fairlady Z '07 comes with. If anyone's got a better suggestion, let me know :)

Also, winning the Gran Turismo All Stars and Like The Wind with that car is awesome. A road going car competing, and winning, against race cars. Amazing :D

I try to make all my cars pink with black wings and wheels. If I run out of pink I try mat blue/aqua and black.

I've even bought a cheap car just to get the pink paint. It all started with PGR and the color trick. I used to make every car bright pink and beat people.

Lol, that's gotta leave a stain in their self esteem :P

That's funny, I painted an LM Camaro pearl pink and it turned out nice.

I believe it was Earnhardt Sr.'s Father told him once, "if you gonna' drive a pink car Son, you better be fast"...

I haven't painted a car yet....I must have soooo many great paints sitting in my items list.

And horns.... I've painted 2 cars so far, my ZR1 RM (Rosso Corsa from my 458 Italia) and my Veyron (It was awful, light blue with dark blue highlights - Rescued it now and its white!) but want to keep all of my paints... Just in case

Anything but black, I hate black, most of the cheats, rammers and cutters who thought they were 'bad boys' on GT5 prologue drove black cars (maybe they're just David Hasselhoff Knight Rider wannabe's?).

I'll always try and respray a car using a colour that isn't available as a stock colour for that car.

I really like metallic and flip paint, it suits some cars but not others, every now and then when you stumble upon a good combination of car and paint it definately has the wow factor. I just love playing around, painting cars and seeing what looks different but still looks cool without being over the top.

Sometimes I'll use a colour / car combination that has meaning, like what Daan mentioned above, British Racing Green and some British cars just has to be the way.

Haven't used matte or chrome on anything, they're all still sitting in the items list.

Hmm I am pretty sure that you are not very happy with the way PD handled the colour issue then. I personally don´t paint my cars that much. Just all black for me, but if I would ... well then I wouldn´t like it.

Why can´t they implement a paint shop, where you could at least buy a paint. Instead of buying a whole car that you don´t want / need to get the paint you desire.

This is propably the worst and most illogical (as it has nothing to do with reality) decision in GT5.

Everything black.

Except where I've bought multiples so that I can have the same car with different tunes. Then it's white for ovals; silver for technicals; keep it black for high-speed; and purple for Nordschleife.

Yep. It's one of the many ways PD has put false longevity to the game.
That's one of the things I dislike the most about GT5, the way they made way too little content, but then made lot's of stupid features, to make it "last longer".
Simply adding more a-spec races would be fine with me. Not super special one's where you have to drive some super rare car, simply more races to keep me going - to make me feel I get somewhere in the game.
I also don't get how they completely reused the racing menus from GT4.
That, and the fact that there's WAY too many menu clicks. Just tuning a car takes forever with all the dumb "are you sure you want to buy this part?/are you sure you want to install this part?/part has been installed: OK" -clicks.

Some times i wonder if they intentionally want to stay in the same old, slow, uninspired, frustrating, prehistoric menus. Or if they simply can't make a better job with the menus.

I don't reallyhave that much of an obsession, but I find myself often painting cars in a dark-sih grey metallic, of sorts. I liek dark colours on my cars, most of the time, but I think that black often covers some of the details of the car's body, which I dislike. Colours liek Titanium Grey really take my fancy.

Aside from that, I like Midnight Pearl a lot. Awesome colour. Lastly, white can be pretty classy if a car can actually wear it. Which doesn't happen that often, I think.

As for the Wheels, I usually go for some sort of bronze or white.

White or silver - i find there is something very pure about those that lets me see the cars lines and their full beauty. Colours tend to distract me.

I alway pay the cars like they "feel right"

so my furai got a dark black and my lambo got a yellow paint and my elise got a racing green. it just have to feel right on that car :/

👍 same here

Black black black, with gold wheels. Over 300 black cars and counting (I have all my friends sending me their black paints too)

My fav is silver & I buy too many cars that colour, so now I force myself to try out different & unusual ones aswell so my collection doesn't look too samey.

👍

I paint them what I think looks cool. My RGT is bright yellow, 300ZX is Champion Blue, I reapinted my California that I won Rossa Corsa because it was an ugly maroon when I got it. I also have a Mysterious Violet Evo IV RM and matching Z06 and ZR1 RM's painted Refelx Purple. I have painted about half of my cars and still have almost 600 paint chips.

Considering I'm in the process of creating a database of every colour chip available in the game, and I'm currently at about 1600... yes, I'd say so.

(No, I don't own that many in-game, though... yet!)
