I'm hooked on Red Alert 2 at the moment. In the last week, I've played through the Allied and Soviet missions, and now I'm playing various skirmishes.

I've also been re-reading the manual, and learning all the keyboard shortcuts. Wow, what a difference that makes!

the original red alert series with all addons was probably the greatest of them. Red Alert 2 was good but not nearly long enough. Tiberian sun, was good but not good enough for me.

Generals...The only thing I can say about generals is that it was total fricking CRAP. They changed WAAAAY too much and the 3d graphics made the game look EXTREMELY crappy - textures had almost no detail and such. Not to mention the lack of naval vessels

Also, The original red alert series was the only one that required any real skill for offline play

Generals looked crappy? I dont think so. The graphics were awesome.

this one is barely worth disputing...yea it looked good but there wasn't ANY detail on the units. Plus the buildings also lacked in lots of detail. You'll rarely ever see those problems in 2d strat games - just look at Rise of Nations. There isn't any hope for at least 2 years for ANY strategy game to look that good if the designers decided to go pure 3d like with Generals. Generals was just nothing more than a hype-fest to show the 3d tech in a style of game where 2d looks best. Warcraft 3, though 3d, was still a good game because the game actually reminded you of the old games everywhere you looked. Generals has none of that feel or look to it - not to mention it was tooooooooo easy and far too short.

Odd I found this thread, I was just about to make on about C&C.

For christmas, one of my gifts was a pack of a few different C&C games and some expansion packs. I got Tiberian Sun and the Firestorm expansion pack, Renegade, Red Alert 2 and the Yuri's Revenge expansion pack, and a demo of Generals. I haven't tried Generals yet, I've been to caught up with RA2.

I used to play Tiberian Sun a lot, I had borrowed it from a friend, and never got it back to him. I wasn't bad. My favorite is RA2. The expansion packs are hard, man. Renegade isn't bad, but I think they should stick with the overhead veiw type game. Not go 3d.

I was going to say, who wants to play a game online?

Maybe so but it is still a good game.

I used to play Generals religiously, I was addicted to it.

I pre-ordered Zero-Hour, played it three times, and just completely lost interest.

It's still one of the best game series I've ever played.
