Im sitting on the fence for this one what would you think if it was added someone calling a race

Tough One, Not really Necessary Unless for Spectating.

All the game commentary I have heard is repetitive and pretty awful but if someone was good at it I would offer them a job commentating on my online racing series' :D

Yeah it is a tough one thats why im sitting on the fence for this just wanted your opinions

I wouldn't mind it. :)

no thanks....

They need to get the Cars sounding right first.

It would be a great addition for replays, but PD shouldn't force it down our throats. There should be an option to turn it off ;)

👍

I'm punching Jeff Gordon the next time I see him. Commentary would be cool the first couple of times, but considering how much I play, it'd likely get on my nerves after the first week.

Hi guys thanks for your responses I think it would get annoying without a toggle

I wouldn't mind doing commentating myself. I could pull a few Murray Walker quotes into the race.

Murray walker the legend

It's something really hard to implement in a way that's not hilarious memebase fodder. Specially given PDs "expertise" with things with four limbs rather than four wheels.

I'd say, absolutely pointless. Work on car sounds, that'd be time well invested!

It would be nice, but only for a saved replay race, with an on-off toggle.

Im not saying they should just thinking about what it would be like

I'm not really against it, but last time i heard commentary was in F1 CE, and that was pretty poor.
I don't think it would work with GT, and frankly would be a waste of time.

I suppose if a few games have had it and it wasnt implemented well then I would want it either

I'd rather have a spotter.

Im sorry I dont understand

I'd rather have real life rally tracks first.

So would I, but I doubt we'll ever get either anyway.

I didnt want this to be a wish list I wanted the pros and cons of having commentary

I think that it would be quite annoying and you would never get the person you want too hear aswell.

Commentary in racing games is always terrible and probably always will be. As wide-open and varied as GT is it would probably be completely ridiculous. It's generally poor in any game, but tends to work a little better for more "standard" sports. Still usually too repetitive, late and often random. It's really only best for the silly and or completely inappropriate things they say, and/or goofy memes.

"Just a bit of a knock on the wall there, I think." "You're right there, Murray."

"Jarno is running much faster than you. Maybe you should have a look at his setup." [Ok, that one wasn't technically commentary.]

"Boom! He's on his back."

"Quarterback can't hold the ball that long!"

"Where'd that truck come from?"

"No one catches the lob pass."

"It's a beautiful day, here in Green Bay." [As it snows in Philadelphia]

et cetera.

Damn, I thought I had a couple of good hockey lines too, but they've slipped my mind. Showing my age with most of those. And I'm sure there's a million more.

Hire me, I'm a Radio Presenter. :D

I'd rather have a spotter for letting me know if I'm clear of another vehicle and a crew chief to tell me when to pit. The crew chief could also yell at the driver who may be driving backwards.

Crew chief: "What do you think you're doing? You going to get kicked!"

I dont see why Americans have spotters, you should be in control of the car and you should be using your mirrors at all times to see your opponents, not have someone do it for you.

Spotters make perfect sense to me for oval racing, where it's constantly side-by-side(and relies on that for the show). One misjudgment of an inch or two can easily end half a dozen people's races, and possibly injure several of them. Mirrors just aren't quite that accurate so it's good to have help.

Your point is very valid for road course racing however, but even in American road course racing there are not always spotters, and if there are they may not be able to cover the whole track. With the prominence of oval racing here, it's probably just something people are accustomed to. Like safety car periods for invisible Frenchmen running across the track.
