I was just wondering how I can show proof of my lap times if I dont have a sharkport. Can i load up digital photos?

You can do that, but it really won't prove anything. You might have been able to get that time, but no one can possibly tell if you had wall touches or off track excursions. I suggest picking up a sharkport if you can find one, it's a great investment 👍.

Sharkport/Xport devices are hard to find any more (no longer manufactured).

The Max Drive is an acceptable alternative, cheaper and from what I hear, easier to use.

but then, why should people doubt you?

If the lap time is realistic and reasonably stated, all we have to do is try for it ourselves...im sure everyone here owns GT4...

Well there have been several people who have been caught cheating in the weekly race series here at GTP. Some people just don't have any skill and are dishonest to boot, unfortunately.

I too would suggest the Max Drive, quite a nice piece of equipment.:) Better than the Sharkport/X-Port which are discontinued anyway.

Stupid question, but what's a max drive?

I've been reading this particular forum as I hone my GT4 skills and while I have no illusions at being up at the top, I love friendly competition and fully intend to throw myself into a few events. CHEATING has been something my loathe and I have been wondering how you guys can keep it to a minimum or remove it altogether.

I mean, if there's an event that says "unmodded cars on N1-3 tires", how can you prove that?

The MaxDrive and X-Port/Sharkport will help to that end.

The MaxDrive is a USB Pen Flash Drive which you can use to transfer memory files from your PS2's browser screen to, and then park them on your PC. The X-Port/Sharkport does much the same thing, but must be connected to both at the same time. The MaxDrive just adds some portability.

You can then upload the replay to the internet - ie HERE - and people can download and view them on their PS2s at their leisure.

For GT3 there was an application by a Finnish gentleman which allowed you to open any file - gamesave, replay - and view the car, parts added to it, settings adjustments and a few values outside the scope of the player to adjust. You could then check EVERYTHING to do with the car. A similar application is not yet ready for GT4, but files can be saved and checked at a later date. A by-product of this application was that you could create hybrids (cars with parts from other cars, or with settings outside the normal ranges), which was fun - check the videos daan and I made at http://www.davidanderson.org.uk/gtgenome.htm and http://www.davidanderson.org.uk/gtgenome2.htm - and us expert hybrideers could detect any level of hybriding with this programme and flush out people who used hybrids in races where they were not allowed.

That cover it? :D

As far as I'm aware... maybe.

I know that most USB pens work for GT4's photomode. As to whether they work in the PS2 browser screen... dunno.

I only bought my PS2 a few weeks ago (for GT4 :p), so I guess it's time that I familiarize myself with this screen for the first time! :p
