GTPlanet, hi.
I'm playing Gran Turismo 3 right now. In the Car Dealer section. Going to check out some cars that can't be bought. Machines for show, not for sale. The majority of them are concept cars. Like I'm looking at the RX-8 before its production release. Mitsubishi and their Lancer VII Rally Prototype before its release. Then you think about non-America's Gran Turismo Concept. Often times, I keep seeing "why are concept cars even in Gran Turismo?" So let me see if I can defend concept cars. You may also use this thread to talk about other concept cars, even concept cars of the past that were either too good to be true, or looked better than what the production model looked like. Anyhow, here goes.
Allow me to defend concept cars. Now, there are concept machines, and while they may be ugly to some people, I think regardless that it's not about the looks, but it's what it offers and what cues will be offered in future models. I mean, look at the Cadillac Cien. Perhaps the Cadillac XLR is proof of part of its looks. The Isuzu Vehicross looked almost like its concept. And also the Honda Element gave a view as to how the Element would look. Some think the Element is ugly, but it's actually pretty interesting to me. GT Concept featured a Civic Type-R that we have in America as the Si, I think it is. But the Civic in the game resembles the one I seen at the Houston Auto Show. I like the rally-style shifter on the dashboard. I mean, I may think that concept cars can look whimsical, ugly, or some even beautiful, that's not the point. You're not going to have concept cars at the auto dealer. So, don't feel bad that a concept is ugly. I mean, I can sincerely tell you that a concept will be some indication of what a future car will be like. I mean, it's like an upcoming game. You get an idea as to how an upcoming game will be like with a concept in the form of a demo. But with a concept car, you get an idea as to how a future car will look, or if a car that will be in production that you can buy off the lot, or whatever.
I'm speaking in a calm, caring voice when I say this. But, I don't think concept cars are crap. Concepts can actually be entertaining. They can give you an idea of what the future shows for either a new car or some concepts. Concept cars are the focus of this topic, so come on in and talk concepts. Attack or defend them. Share past concepts of interest. Go ahead...
