Children, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

Earlier on my GT4 game I tried many times to beat the All Japan GT Championship and failed... turns out that I had misread the requirements and thought the car had to be Japanese and have GT in the game. And of course, I did not have an appropriate car of that type at the time.

So, today I was cleaning up some old races I missed and decided to tackle it. As I was about to start I noticed "All cars allowed". In an instant of weakness and mischievousness I got in my Playstation Pescarolo C40 and got into the race.

What gore! What bloodshed! I feel so ashamed!!! :guilty: I should never have done this... I was 3/4 of a lap ahead after the 5 laps. I couldn't even stomach looking at the results knowing I had abused a race to badly. The only thing left to do was to abandon the Championship in shame :yuck: and come back here to confess of my misdeed.

There, what a relief... I feel a little cleaner. Now I must find a car that is a bit more balanced for the race. Off to the "search" button I go.

I repeat... CHILDREN, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

 :D

What? Who cares about abusing a race? Just win win win!!! Money is all that matters! Muwahahahaha!!!

Mine is probably that when I entered my freshly-won Gran Turismo Skyline (500+ bhp) in Sunday cup... :guilty: Never used that car since.

Yes i did that on my first few goes through.... now im trying to race each race with a minimum of 100 A-Spec points on my other memory card. not too far through though...

this is exactly what I've been doing on my latest race game restart. For the most part I've been managing between 100 and 150pts/race and a couple of 200pt races so far at 14% completion. But I've been guilty of totally overwhelming the competition on a few of the rally events. I took the rally raid vehicle in against all takers in the first few dirt rallies just to get them done and over with.

I hate rallies......

I remember a thread that had reccomendations for each race, and it listed the Audi R8 to win the Sunday Cup. :dunce:

And I'm guilty of doing it too, using the Minolta against normal JGTC racers in several enduros. :guilty:

I entered the Type R-cup with the NSX-R LM Race Car-thing. The Civics never had time to react before I passed them. :$

Ok ok.. i made the rallies an exeption. I think most of us hate them. Even more so for that damn 5 second penalty. I just want to get them out of the way as well so i can get onto my favourite bit (the endurance events!!!)

Most of the time I try to use a car that is a challenge to win with , considering the opposition, excepting the odd race in which I'll take out my lovely Speed 12:)

Well, I do actually try and get a fair race in enduro's, it's what I do when i'm not racing that's the problem. I...I tune up inappropriate cars to insane levels and then force them to drive quickly round the 'Ring. *breaks down in tears* :(

:p ;)

i do that all the time. the ring is my home track. i love picking random odd cars and going there after spending way to much on them...

The hardest thing in GT4 is to find a balanced race.
Many races feature one fast AI and four slow AI. You then enter the race with your fast car
(how many GT players enter a race knowing they will not win) only to find the fast car has been replaced by a slow AI entrant and a resulting walkover.
Or vice versa.
You enter a race with a competitive car to the four slower AI and then find that the fast AI entrant is back to totally overwelm the entire field.

.Duck.

very true, one of this things i hope they tweak in gt5.. judging by the 12 or more car lineup on the trailer, i'd say [hope] they have...

Ya, the fuller grid of cars will hopefully keep the level of difficulty of a race (as deemed by the game) more or less constant every time it is entered. I look forward to it

this thread is kinda funny to look at...

it seems there are a lot of people like me:
We trash the rallies, even though we know exactly what the competition will be. Then we turn around and more or less guess at what a fair match will be going into a race where the field is an unknown...

i dunno, i find it a bit humorous.

Hmm, I tried to thrash the rallies with a horribly overtuned Skyline GT-R, But I sucked so bad that I had to learn how drive on gravel and ice... :dunce: Once you learn it´s actually fun!

And letting B-spec drive the DTM series for creds in a hyperpowered CLK DTM is my (and alot of others I guess) great shame :indiff:

yeah thats how i got a bazillion b spec miles. using bob in the dtm series to drive my 900hp+ audi a4 for money.

my A-spec only file is coming along nice now though so i'm slowly redeeming myself...

Maybe I'm a weirdo then, I have also raced DTM for money (very many times) but I have never done it in B-Spec. Maybe I just like driving.

I clearly remember on my first save (couple of days after buying GT4) I won the Peugeot 206 Cup and won the 205 Turbo 16 Car.
U can imagine I was glad to win a good ralley car (remembering to realy need one in any GT game) so I dared the challenge of the special events, and entered the first race. "Hmmmmmm, only 1 point, why the 🤬 do I only get 1 point for a race against a Delta Integrale" few seconds after the start (doing 50 for 5 seconds) it hit me (after hitting him), my car was so fast, it felt like I could lap the opponent on this 2 lap race!

i've only done it myself a few times. its a fun series...

how about cutting the chicanes on sarth 2... and the last few corners... and the first corner... hell i cut the whole damn track

Hehe cutting? Who? Me?
Noooooooooo.....
Only...
only on (i think it is) Fuji 90's the corners right-left-right just before the last long fast bend to the long straight. Going straight over the grass without lifting and than breaking hard the second you tough the tarmac, it'll save you about 8 seconds, and when driving a Lupo 1.4 against Lupo Cup cars you'll need those seconds !!!!

yeah i do that do. i dont like cutting though. the only time i cut is when nothing else works. i hate redoing races.

I think that trashing the rallies is more of a sign about PD than about the players... Rallies used to be my absolute favorite in GT3, but with the poorly designed GT4 penalty I just want to get over them and never see them again.

So, against a rally... anything goes... and if it turns out that I need it, I won't feel bad even using a filthy Gameshark.
