Well I'm really having a big problem lately. For some reason GTP (and a few several websites) are being slow and I keep getting the "The connection has timed out" error on Firefox. Not sure if its either my internet being slow (checked on Speedtest and the everything seems fine) or that my computer is slow (did a virus scan and I got nothing) but it has been bugging me a lot since I have to refresh a lot (like 5-6 times) before the page even loads, and that sometimes means the page looks awfully blank.......

Yeah, just wanted to say this to let anyone know if they are having the same problem as me right now. Hopefully it will be okay by tomorrow, or that this laptop is getting crappier everyday until I feel like throwing in at the wall. :grumpy: Wish I can get my damn freaking PC repaired before I do something to my father's laptop which would makes things worse....... :indiff:

Just moved this to its own thread... Anyway, no indications of a problem here. Have things improved for you? It sounds like your issue is at a lower level of your local network or internet connection, and has nothing to do with your computer. My hunch is that something is randomly interfering with your wireless connection (phone, microwave, etc.).

Well sorry if I did posted it in that thread, but I thought it was GTP that was slowing down or something. :guilty: But yeah, like you said it could very well be the internet connection that is causing the problem. Although right now GTP is loading just fine right now, but there are times when loading GTP is crawling especially at night......

I'm really not using a wireless connection on my fathers laptop, I'm using the LAN connection straight from the modem. So I'm not sure if anything is interrupting the line or that the laptop is getting slower each and every time I used it....... :ill:

It's no problem, I'm just trying to encourage more thread creation and it's much easier for me to keep track of separate issues if they are in their own topic. Anyway, if you (or anyone) regularly experiences trouble or sluggishness at a particular time of the day, it's most likely an ISP issue. I say this because from a server point of view, there is no one single time when it is stressed. Yes, traffic peaks in the early afternoon on the eastern coast of the United States, but it's not taxing on the infrastructure and should have no universal impact on the site's speed.

In your case, I'd bet your ISP's connection isn't the strongest to some of the U.S. backbones GTPlanet is hosted on. That wouldn't explain your all-or-nothing connection issues, though, especially if you're plugged directly into the modem.
