It's about friggin' time that we said something. I love GTPlanet, but this is still a fansite and Sony, as big as they are, won't pay too much attention from here.

So, let's contact them.
Flood them with emails over our concerns. We are the ones who make these companies, after all.
Here is my letter and you can send your letter of disappointment, concern, and or suggestion to them via this link:
http://www.us.playstation.com/contactus.aspx

At least we can go to sleep at night knowing that we've made a concious effort in changing the game for the better.

Dear Sony/Polyphony Digital,

Gran Turismo is officially the most anticipated game for the PS2. Period, no questions about it.

We've already dealt with and have accepted the delay of the online mode. That's not a real problem anymore. However, what we will NOT stand for is certain very simple and crucial elements that make the game what it is--being omitted.

There should be absolutely NO excuse as to why memory card/garage battles aren't included for this title. Not only are they not included for the single screen 2 player modes, but we've waited 4 years and they STILL aren't included in LAN battles either.

If we cannot use the cars that we spend so many countless hours tuning to perfection; till the wee hours of the morning, against a fellow HUMAN competitor...then what the hell is the point of even playing this game?!

How long have we waited? 3, 4 years now? And you still have not included LAN garage battle options yet? Then to make matters worse, you've deleted the option to use them in single screen multiplayer as well?

So what exactly are you going to do in order to keep your audience from converting to Forza as a result of this extremely powerful mishap. Seriously, this is a severe flaw of the game that MOST of us are expressing extreme dissappointment with on GTPlanet.net and on the Playstation boards as well (Most on GTPlanet).

Unfortunately, since Polyphony ceases to reveal any form of contact with them for us players (y'know, the ones that have supported them for so many years), I and many others are subjected to contacting you all through this channel alone.

Take note: if these detrimental flaws are not fixed, you will lose myself and countless others to the competition that is on Xbox. Whether it is an inferior game technically or not, at least it takes into account the players and our interaction with one another. The most IMPORTANT thing about Gran Turismo, if any of you have noticed as of yet via our hundreds of tournaments and get-togethers.

Please, someone relay this message to Polyphony Digital before releasing the American version. Fix the lack of garage battles in single screen multiplayer and LAN multiplayer alike.

I think we've shown our loyalty and have waited LONG ENOUGH for such a simple "common sense" feature to be implemented by now. 4 years is enough time to get that right.

Don't you think?

Sincerely,
Kahleem Poole

Don't just stand idly by b1tching and moaning about GT4's flaws. SAY SOMETHING. Make a change, make a difference now!! :grumpy:

Well ... in my opinion telling a company what you think of their product is an important thing. You don't know how much attention they pay to critics in a forum like this. If they ignore it, it's their problem. But until today I've always got a positive response on critics of a product. In some cases, the company even was thankful for it. Shen Yin was absolutely right in saying that they'll keep on doing things like they do if you don't tell them what you don't like about their product. There's no need to yell at them, some fair critic will do. Thell them what you like and what you don't like, it can only improve the product.

Unfortunately, most of the companies don't invest a lot of work in gathering information like this. But if you send them your opinion, you'll mostly be welcomed with open arms. If you do nothing, only luck will make the next generation of GT better. But if you (politely !!!) tell them what you think about GT4, there's at least a chance that the things that worry you will be improved. Think about it!

Cheers,
the Interceptor

If none of you make an effort to say anything in order to make change, then don't say anything at all. The last thing that I or any of us need right about now is some sort of ignorant-ass, negative feedback.

Thank you

True.

I've pointed out that PD isn't going to look this way, hence why using the link contact to their site is what is needed. Hopefully you'll do your part in helping out this cause.

Well Done Shen Yin, a good idea and I hope it works. :)

Please tell me if I can do anything to support you.

I will, but unfortunately I won't be able to do so for some more time. I've only seen and played GT4 for a few minutes, cause it doesn't run on my PS2 yet. That makes any review of the game useless, cause it would only be a part of my opinion. As soon as I have full access to the game though, you can be sure that I will contact them. Interestingly, by the little time I have played the game, I've already found a lot of things I like / don't like. I guess they'll be getting a loooooong list from me. :)

Cheers,
the Interceptor

why don't somebody tell them about some of the errors like ford GT not having a dricetrain ,or the other thing about the ford lightining .

I would send one but some of you may have better e-mails to send (in structure )than the one I will

Most poeple will bye and play gt4 because it's still the best driving sim out there,
even with all of it's little disappointments, they will say ''hope pd fixes this in gt5''
but is'int that what was said about gt3 a spec ? 💡

Most stupid thing ever. If you don't like GT4 get the hell out of here ;)

You're not getting it the right way. The most stupid thing is your post. Any company is interested in getting feedback about their product. 👎

Thao does not mean that Shen Yin does not like the game. I simply would be interesting to help PD improve GT.

I agree with the interceptor for one thing : I'll tell PD what I think about GT4 when I'll get the game or when I'll have played it for hours.

The point of telling PD waht we think is not saying their game is a ****, but how to improve it. 👍

Yep.

This has been done before, back in September I think and look where it got us?

Unless Sony specifically ask for comments on the game or for your opinion on the matter they'll just regard this as junk mail.

"Mmmm, the Americans are complaining about GT4 again, what shall we do!?"
"Lets just forget to give them GT5:Prologue"
"Hahaha, good idea"
"Hahahha"

And that is how Sony spend their tea breaks...

Sorry folks, game is in the bag. Signed, sealed and delivered. However if you think that your voice/vote does count and you intend to bombard PD or Sony with your comments, make sure you can form complete sentences and use grammar that appears in the dictionary. ;)

Everyone on this board is not born in an english-speaking country :yuck:

What PD/ Sony should have done is put a short questionnaire within every copy of GT4. You could then send the feedback back to PD who would analyse the results and then try to implement them in the next game.

The questionnaire could consist of questions like:

(Please bear in mind i haven't thought of this until now so this isn't a fully finished templar of the questions that could be implemented - I have also only thought of 2 questions when in reality there will be much more.)

1. What would you like to see most improved in the next GT game. (Please tick appropriate)

1. Computer AI,
2. Number of cars,
3. Number of tracks,
4. Choices of cars e.g - ( Please specify what car manufactures you would like to see in the game.)
5. Other please specify.

2. How would you rate you GT4 gaming experience?

1. Excellent - Better than I thought
2. Very good - Slightly better than I thought
3. Satisfied - Met my expectations without exceeding them.
4. Poor - Expectations were not met and left dissapointed.
5. Very Poor / Dispondent - Gaming expectations were severly not met with many dissapoinment and false hopes.

These are the questions I think PD should have maybe produced to go along with -the sale of GT4. I personally would definitely take just 5 - 10 minutes of my time to answer the questionnaire as this good significantly improve the gameplay and replay value.

Anway it's just my opinion feel free to say if you think there are other alternatives. :)

👍

Last time I checked, not just American's visited this forum, therefore I fail to see how you can sit there and single Americans out! 👎

Dear Sony/Polyphony Digital
(Upon reading this if needed please forward to it’s correct destination please.)

Allow me to express my extreme dissatisfaction at the problems with GT4. I very upset that the 2 player/LAN garage cars being left out from GT4. In this one single move you’ve killed the wonderful long-term playability that the previous GT games had. Even worse, the replays that were the best, the multiplayer ones, are not saveable now.

There have also been numerous reports of bugs, unstable frame rates (which were not even evident in the playable demos released so far) and glitches.

I also do not understand why, the damage was not included, not visual, but at least simulated with an icon system. With different car sections and colours (similar to the tyre wear in previous GT games) an icon system could represent the level of damage. Would have been a fantastic idea bringing more scope and depth to the game. Instead of the penalty system which has not really done much in that aspect.

A lot of people also wanted more classics, “icon” cars. I wanted some older BMW cars for example, like BMW E30, E36, M3 etc. Of course this is not a big issue, just would be nice to listen to your customers by doing surveys and such and get an idea of the cars people wanted most in GT4.

The online may have not been achievable at this time but at least the infrastructure could have been implemented in GT4 and then in the future when you have the servers and such set up it could be used. Also online capability would have been extremely useful in patching existing GT4 problems etc.

Last but not least a major problem with GT games was the amount of memory cards one has own in order to hold all of his/hers favourite replays, car set ups, etc. I like many people was hoping for a small Hard Disk Drive incorporated in PSTwo. Not very big, so it does not hold an entire game and encourage piracy, but big enough to hold a lot of save information and things like pictures from GT4 Photo mode plus maybe patch information for problems with GT4. Again this has not happened. Not even the alternative of maybe having super high capacity memory cards. Again with the price of such media storage device dropping in price the way they are it would have really helped.

I understand and respect Sony, my TV, DVD, Portable Music Player and PS2 are possessions I am proud of. I always try to go for quality and like how Sony manages to always give me the features that I want, and others lack, in my equipment. But I feel that PSTwo could and should have been better and more importantly the biggest and best game on the PS platform, GT4, has some serious flaws.

Unfortunately since the PSTwo and GT4 have given me initial feeling of disappointment I am considering moving over to Microsoft platform. I never thought I’d say this but the way things are at the moment the XBOX Live options and the very impressive Forza Motorsport may convert me. Thing that is also worrying is that a lot of people share my views so I believe it’s about time Sony/ Polyphony Digital started listening to it’s fans more.

Sincerely
Dan Bucsa

I understand that, I'm referring to native English speakers! If you're going to criticize and go to the trouble of contacting the game developer make sure saying what you mean to say. Don't use your when you mean you're; to when you mean too, etc. Buy a damn Strunk & White.
