Obviously that would be terrible, but little features like 2 player garage battles etc make a huge difference. This does kinda ruin it for me tbh :(

Last time I checked, a company only makes money by selling a game, not developing it! Therefore, from a game developers Point Of View you want to do the most you can to satisfy those who have put their hard earned money into your pocket & purchased your product vs. giving those same people only what you want to give them!

Therefore, since there appears to be a great number of people on this one forum alone who have certain concerns over what isn't in GT4, but was incorporated into previous verions and are now left out for one reason or another & not because of the limitations of the PS2, contructive criticism would actually favor PD in the long run if they actually listen to that criticism because even MORE people will purchase their next product!

J. Paul Getty, once considered the richest man alive in the early 1900's, once said:
There are always opportunities through which businessmen can profit handsomely if they will only recognize and seize them.

I agree ! it's not like were asking for anything new here.

Ok drop that driving simulator crap for a second. It's a game. Regardless of what you think, features like 2p battle are VERY important for most players.
Most of the people around here will spend alot more time with GT mode then with that ******* 2p battle thing ;)

I too will spend more time doing the GT mode, but I wanted to race MY cars against my friends cars. You see now? Pre set cars are crapola when you have a game with car customisation like GT4. It doesn't matter if I spend more time on one mode then another, what matters is that an important feature has been excluded.

I'll still buy Gt4 ofc.

hopefully everyone just had way too high expectations, as long as it has the same perfected driving model seen in other gt's im happy

It got hyped up to much while we were waiting for it to come out    know what i mean.

Yes. Let's bombard PD with letters describing how a minute flaw has ruined a perfectly good game. Let's ignore what's been done well.
That should get our point across.:)

Idiots.

You buy something, you develop an opinion on it during usage, and then you tell the manufacturer what you think of it, it's as simple as that. It has been done before, it will be done again. Where's the difference if it is a videogame or a box of cookies?

you summed it up nicely i think maybe everyone is over reacting?

That is my opinion, yes.
Par Examplé-

Dear PD,
My expectations were obsenely high.
I blame you

Yours Sincerely,
Mr X.

I'd rather say ultrabeat is overreacting with this statement, cause everything we ask is to write some words what you like and what you don't like about GT4, to let them gain a picture what needs some more work. Nobody asks you to snipe K. Yamauchi or blow up PD.

Like I said, this has gotten way too emotional.

How would you tell them how you feel about the game ?,
Send them a love letter perhaps might do it.......

I think there's a distinct difference between "Developing an opinion, and telling the manufacturer what you think of it", and whining/complaining.

Without even bothering to read this ludacrist thread, I long for the day when people learn to just shut up and be happy they have a game at all.

 👎

Exactly! And as most of the people are whining and complaining here, they should rather develop an opinion and tell PD what they think of GT4. What's wrong with that?

Ultrabeat, IS overreacting. 2 player garage battle is hardly a high expectation now is it.
That's the whole point of the post!

It's the minority spoiling it for the majority.

It's about friggin' time that we said something. I love GTPlanet, but this is still a fansite and Sony, as big as they are, won't pay too much attention from here.

So, let's contact them.
Flood them with emails over our concerns. We are the ones who make these companies, after all.
Here is my letter and you can send your letter of disappointment, concern, and or suggestion to them via this link:
http://www.us.playstation.com/contactus.aspx

At least we can go to sleep at night knowing that we've made a concious effort in changing the game for the better.

Dear Sony/Polyphony Digital,

Gran Turismo is officially the most anticipated game for the PS2. Period, no questions about it.

We've already dealt with and have accepted the delay of the online mode. That's not a ....

For the love of god just shut up. This is pointless and inane. It won't do a thing. Give it a rest, who cares.

Honestly I don't care about all these complaints. I have purchased the Japanese version of GT4, and I'm going to enjoy the game when I get a chance to play it. I didn't spend $70 on a game to sit there and worry about all the wrong things that go with it. I've played the GT games since they were first introduced, and GT4 will be great IMO. If you want things fixed, send Sony a letter stating things that you are looking forward to in GT5. Like some people on here have said, you may not even get through to Sony, period. 💡

It would be nice if we could give PD suggestions for the game... Live for Speed developers have a "Suggestions and Improvements" section on the official forum. :)

Who cares you ask!!!...well you don't as it seems but we the (MINORITY) do!
maby this thread is up setting to you, well gt4 is upseting to us 👎

we are not telling them to put new features in, we are simply complaining about a important feature that has been lost

So many complaints.. stop whining.

There are a few legitimate concerns in this thread and the rest is just over the top ranting which when you really stop to think about it is plain stupid.

The game is brilliant... it looks fantastic, the cars appear to handle better than they ever have before... it's such a giant leap ahead of GT3 it's almost not possible. Yes it has a few FPS glitches at the start of a few races which make next to 0 difference when you're actually PLAYING the game.. unless of course most of the game for you is watching the first few seconds before a race and then quitting...

The only two big concerns that are potentially a problem for PD with this game are Mem Card Battles/using garage cars in multiplayer races on LAN and... not being able to save multiplayer replays.

These are both very important parts of this series... they are so easy to implement and have been in every single GT version so far...

If these are left out down to a mistake then this is tragic as it means they may not ever correct this mistake. If they are left out deliberately then we can have faith they may at least add them in the Online version that will come in a years time or whenever.

Either way.. I do think it's a good idea to try and let PD know that there is high demand for mem card battles/garage cars in lan play and replay saves for these battles... these are probably the biggest features in the entire game. If you consider most of what people do in this game centres around racing other people and this is why it lasts so long these are hugely important.

I can forgive the lack of them in GT4 if they come in the Online version and that version appears soon. However, I can't see that version appearing very soon purely because they have to get Online working and if they've had so many problems with it they may spend a long time getting it out to us. This means playing GT4 exclusively single player for over a year... tuning cars for next to no purpose... it's gonna take it's toll on a lot of us. Whilst I probably anticipate this lack of multiplayer to affect my gameplay more than it actually will, it is a valid concern for all of us.

PD must know that this is one of the biggest features in their entire series of GT games... it makes me wonder why they'd just drop it. It's not a difficult thing to add... it would take probably a days worth of programming to do it... if that... considering they already have the basic code to do these things already.. and it is literally as simple as adding an icon to your garage for multiplayer races and letting you 'save' the replay that is already created everytime you race... it's not rocket science.

Given that it's clearly so easy to add these things it seems obviously deliberate that they are missing and should return in the Online version. However, the main reason we have for why these are left out is because of the Online mode itself.. and them wanting us to use Arcade cars online only... In which case this makes you wonder if it will appear in the Online version if Online play is the reason it's not in GT4. But then.. surely if it was the reason, given that it's so easy to implement anyway they could have just added it in GT4 before release without problem, knowing that Online play would not be in it.

So perhaps it does need a comment or statement from PD...

But most of the rants in this post are not necessary... who the hell cares about the bloody Lightning...

Compared to the lack of multiplayer replays and lack of garage cars in multiplayer, the Lightning is nothing... so don't even bother mentioning it.

Blah, blah.. I didn't even bother reading the last half of this thing...

This is like people complaining about the new Star Wars movies. Just because something doesn't meet up with your expectations is no reason to go on some sort of holy crusade about it.

While it is certainly feasible to offer a critique of a product, it serves no purpose to go overboard about it. You're concentrating on the negative... so caught up in the "bad points" of the game that you're completely overlooking the fact that this is the best racing game on the planet. No game can ever be perfect. Ever. Development has to stop somewhere, or the game will never come out. So it's only natural that there's one or two things that not everybody likes about it.

I also think this letter-writing campaign is premature. Remember, there are THREE versions of this game. Asian/Japanese, American, and European/elsewhere. And so far, only one of them has been released. A version that most of us can't even read. For all we know, all of these "problems" will be fixed in the subsequent releases.. the American game just might have garages in Arcade mode, and a Lightning with an FR drivetrain. And then you'll feel kind of stupid for complaining about it, won't you? At the very least, wait until the game is released everywhere, so you have a real final version of the game to critique.

Fine! Go! Make your own racing game! Good luck to you!
Think how many people you'd upset.

wow! looks like I'm the only one who doesn't care at all about the two player garage thing  good for me it seems! i'm going to enjoy that game a lot anyway....
