I actually agree totally with this list. 👍 All the cars deserved to be honored.

Nice to see some people are still calling the Malibu crap. 👎

They wrote something similar to it, I adjusted it a bit. I believe their arguement was that it was close enough to the 356 that it often seems more like a "true" Porsche than the 911 at times...

I disagree. The Porsche Cayman has nothing to do with the Porsche heritage, it shows no sign of having any affiliation with the pedigree - none.

The Cayman's descendance series with the 914, 928, 944 and 968. It's a typical Porsche side project.

Now don't get me wrong, I think the Cayman is a good car. However, it landed itself in a stupid niche segment actually rendering the entire car DUMB. I will go as far as to say the existence of this car is entirely unjustified and hurts the Porsche brand. It feels like the result of an overzealous productline.

The Cayman is marketing. So when I see a journalist call it pure I get frustrated, because I'd love to be a car journalist, and I am not, and they are car journalists, and they're calling the Cayman pure, and it's dumb.

But yeah good car.

I dont really agree on that point. The thing about the Cayman is that it's the closest any "Side product" has ever been to the main product. (the 997.) But It's not the "Porscheness" of the car they are calling "Pure," it's the driving experience. It's you, the car, and the road. and the car talks. and the road talks. and you talk. and it's a very engaging conversation. That's "Pure" driving. The Cayman has been applauded for it's wonderful driving experience and incredible balance: especially compared to it's rear-heavy big brother.

Many think that the Cayman could easily outdo the 911 if given the chance. I'm not sure, but if I could put a Carrera S engine into a Cayman, could I actually have a better sporting car than a Carrera S?

But I might be shooting myself in the foot again.

I had heard that Porsche left the LSD out of the car simply so the 911 could still beat it around the 'Ring.

Boxster (245bhp) (1305 kg) (€ 62.680)
Boxster S (295bhp) (1395 kg) (€ 79.838)

Cayman (245bhp) (1300 kg) (€ 67.230)
Cayman S (295bhp) (1340 kg) (€ 86.437)

The Cayman is nothing more than a 7% better Boxster, rendering it useless as explained in my previous post. I'm not argueing its driving capabilities. I think it's a good car, but it's useless.

If you would install the 345bhp Carrera Coupe engine in the Cayman, you would have exactly that, a Carrera Coupe. It's that redundant.

It's been purposely marketed in between a Boxster and a Carrera Coupe. This flaws the entire design process.

The only other thing I can think is that the Boxster is seen as a girl's Porsche..

I dont agree with putting the Vette on their, thats one of those cars thats an unspoken winner. Besides, cheap? Yeah ok sure ill go buy one when the cops find my Sentra, ill just go trade it right in! I think the Fit should be on there, accord of course. The CTS i half agree with, i worked for Caddy and i liked the car. Its peppy, handles good and the brakes feel awesome, but the new look could use some changes and the CTS-V seems like a better candidate anyway snce its pretty much a cheaper vette with 2 more seats. The list seems pretty good ive done research on just about every car on that list and i can agree with 99% of what they say. I just wish the Altima coupe could have got some spotlight because those things, i cant say enough plus its the first year of production so it really would have been a nice moment for us Nissan guys.

Well, I don't think I'd go that far. Honestly, I love both the Boxster and the Cayman for the aforementioned "purity," particularly when put up against say a BMW Z4 or Mercedes SLK. More women may end up driving Boxsters than Caymans, but I don't think that should ruin the credibility of the vehicle overall.

I'd love to have a silver one with the cocoa brown interior and the 911-like wheels. Thats really about it... Apparently $62K for that form in a Boxster S.

A considerably faster and far better handling Carrera Coupe, though. Which I'm sure is why it is in the niche it is in (being far less powerful than the Carrera and more powerful than the Boxster).

I don't think, by women's car, that he meant the Boxster was the New Beetle Cabrio of the Porsche range (which goes to the Cayenne regardless). I think he meant the age old adage (that I personally loathe) that any Porsche that is not a 911 is essentially a car designed for people who couldn't afford/handle 911s.
