The prototype Mustang was powered by a mid-mounted V4 engine/transaxle Ford had developed for an FWD import fighter for the US market. I've always liked the VW EA 128 prototypes. They used the brand new Porsche flat-6, but detuned to 90 hp. Even so, both the wagon and sedan could do the ton. VW wanted to make an American sized compact but overshot the mark and ended up with a car that was mid-sized by American standards and threatening the Mercedes-Benz S-class. VW couldn't justify the development costs when the Beetle was still selling millions.

That bears a passing resemblance to a Lotus Europa.

Edit: Ferrari and Zagato badge behind the front wheel arch...

Niki Lauda with the Ferrari 6 wheeler prototype F1 car.

Taking inspiration with the Tyrell 6 wheeler F1 car. Ferrari experimented to see of they could also go with 6 wheels for their f1 cars.

1934 Voisin C27 Aérosport. Only one was ever made. Miraculously it still survives. There is a skylight in the roof of the car. The roof can slide back on rails making the skylight the rear window. One of my favorite cars ever.

The Pink Playboy Cars. Since 1964, Playboy has awarded the Playmate of the Year with a car. From 1964 to 1975 the car was painted pink. Many of them were repainted because they attracted unwanted attention from creepy horndogs. They were often sold, and the new owners would be unaware of what they had and so they would be lost to time. Here they are as they were originally awarded.

1964: Donna Marie, Ford Mustang. Fate unknown.

I always liked the buttress on the XJS.
Oh, me too. 100%. Honestly, it's half of the reason I could never own an XJS. Both the coupe and the convertible are so well styled that I'd regret not having the other. I suppose I could split the difference and have a cabriolet...yeah, no...I'd need one of each.
